New ttc no1 thread.

BTW if anyone knows where those no1 babies are I'd like to know! If I was a real detective I think I would have been sacked by now!

lets just buy it all! i think changing tables are a bit of a waste though, tbh. never used/needed one.

Millie26 · 07/08/2007 17:27

Going home now and realised that I have done nothing today at work

Got to be good tomorow and stop thinking about babies so much

Thanks for the chat guys - really nice! Have a sunny evening XX

nomoremagnolia · 07/08/2007 17:28

But it turns into a desk and everyone needs a desk

of course

mistlethrush · 07/08/2007 17:31

Hey - not fair - I was the one shopping in Ikea and choosing cot bedding for all of you!!! .

Of course, if we ever do get round to #2 it will have 2nd hand everything (or 3rd/4th etc)(ds outfitted largely from ebay, for sale links and charity shops - eg lovely Barbar Tshirt bought for £1.25 in ch shop)(they need so many changes and it gets rather expensive to have sufficient - I think we have about 12 or so pairs of trousers at present as potty training!)

I do look longingly at all the beautiful dresses, although its probably a good thing we have a boy, if dc had been a girl we'd have too many dresses as I'm sure that I wouldn't have been able to resist .

Stoke highchair great.

We had handed down moses basket then cot beside our bed. Highly recommend grobags - sometimes available at NCT sales: when the time comes, this is a great place to pick up things.

(You're probably all thinking that we're miserly and you'll be buying all new - but it soon adds up! I prefer to spend the money where I really need it eg car seats)

mistlethrush · 07/08/2007 17:31

(Oh, and we are going to get ds a tiny violin in the very near future: got to have something to spend the money we save on clothes on!)

scorpio1 · 07/08/2007 17:34

nothing wrong at all with second hand things! i just have a few things in mind for this baby... (secretly hoping is not my last!)

mistlethrush · 07/08/2007 20:13

You should see the piles of things our hoped for #2 will have ready and waiting. And if its a girl, she'll still be dressed in blue some of the time and wearing trousers nearly all of the time!

nomoremagnolia · 07/08/2007 20:37

Nothing wrong at all in getting second hand stuff, I'm anticipating it to be mostly clothes/toys etc as I can't see the point in paying full whack for something that might only last them a few weeks. My friend who has a 6 month old hardly managed to get her DS wearing every newborn outfit he was bought before he got too big for them. I intend to only buy some babygrows and sleepsuits in newborn/0-3months and let all the friends and relations buy the cute stuff! I'd want a new carset though for safety and if we got a second hand cot I think I'd want to buy a new mattress, but apart from that I'm more than happy bargain hunting! Intend to get maternity clothes that way too, or if not from somewhere like H&M where I won't spend a fortune. I do however know what products I want and have been watching ebay to see what a good second hand price is!

Nomore - with you 100% - had 2nd hand cot with new expensive matress. (ie one with the 'breathable' bit on top that you can zip off to wash). New car seats.

Never used newborn size. 0-3 months only lasted 1 month - only used vests, sleepsuits and cardigans. But then ds was a bit of a lump (10 5) - in hosp all the other babies on the ward had 'tiny baby' cries - ds prooved that he had a great pair of lungs even at that stage, sounded like a 3mo!

We're only now about at the right age change for clothes, although there are huge differences between sizes for different makes that you have to make an allowance for.

Best early toy - soft play gym (which can be collapsed) - soft mat with arches above with dangly things that can be moved about and swapped round to be in the best location. used from about 8wks - you could position ds under it and put one of the particularly dangly things with a bell in it where his arm would be thrashing about so that he would hit it. The mirror (not glass!) on one of the toys also fascinated him.

Morning All!! I've been bed ridden with flu so today is the first time I've ventured out of bed and managed to log on..

Gonna catch up quickly now - but big wave to everyone - I've missed you so much!!

Quick update - due to illness I very much doubt anything happened this month and temp drop yesterday and today means I'm waiting for AF today - so reckon I'm CD1..

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 11:55

Kensgirl - loving how you celebrated your anniversary! Fab!! We're on year 3 and already stopping making a huge effort - still write cards though . I assume your on hol now - hope you have a fab time and lots of BFP luck with the bding!

Poppy - not sure if you've gone yet - but hope you are very productive with whatever you are doing and hope to see you back here soon!

Nomore - thanks for thinking of me and starting new thread - you're such a sweetie!! How did the clomid treatment go? Did you feel ok? Got everything crossed for you for your 2ww! Totally with you all on the 2nd hand thing and not buying too much - seeing what all my friends are buying and not needing is a real eye opener!!

Milly26 - hello and welcome!

scorpio - huge congrats!! Really pleased for you - I know how down you were getting trying for this one..

graysongirl - Hello! Can't remember if we've met or if I just "know" you from reading your earlier threads but hello anyway

MT - how are you going? How cute is DS going to with a violin!!

Anyway I'm sitting watching the babychannel and they are doing ultrasounds - I want to scream at the telly - "I want one!!!"

Phew - it feels good to be back!!!

scorpio1 · 08/08/2007 11:59

thanks! still in a bit of shock, but having symptoms-sick, boobs, smells! im never ever going to moan about it though.

all i did different was relax! i seriously hardly thought about it, and we had sex whenever we fancied it . i also had loads of ewcm on one day, when we did it.

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 12:01

p,s, can we all have badges for our new detective agency club!?!

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 12:03

Scorpio - that's good news - I had tried that this month and thought I'd done everything right until this flu bug hit me! Was so ill had to go see doctor and he says there was very little chance of conception because my body was a "warzone" this month

Over the moon for you though- how many weeks are you now! Is DP well chuffed? When do you get your exam results?

scorpio1 · 08/08/2007 12:08

your flu will have triggered 'killer' cells in your body-i think the body goes in to basic 'reserve' mode, iyswim?

Exam results: 2nd highest in year, 72%

Overall grade for first year: B

so chuffed! that was a ton of stress though, doing that exam, etc.

I am 4+5 today [ickle emoticon] me and dp had 'agredd' not to test until weekend, but i had an odd feeling...BFP before dye even cleared i rang him and said

"you know that thing you should i shouldnt do? well i did and i am'

he was at work and was like 'seriously' and omfg and he is really huffed. said he forgets and then remembers and is so excited. last night he patted himself and said 'another victory for the super sperm!' . men!

scorpio1 · 08/08/2007 12:09

sorry supposed to be 'chuffed!'

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 12:10

Wow Scorpio - 72% - well done!! You must be multitasker extraordinaire!!

Lol at DP - men are so funny!

mistlethrush · 08/08/2007 12:41

Hi Toomuch...

Violin. We're bracing ourselves for horrible noise and him wrecking whatever we get for him - but all we want is for him to get confident holiding it (its a pretty stupid instrument to play in terms of our body shape when you think about it) and 'play' his volin like mummy plays hers (that would be good, but we're not expecting that immediately at least)

On the piano we're still at the loud banging most of the time stage, although he does have his moments when we experiment with just one or two notes at a time, and repetition of notes which I think is quite good (2.5). Not expecting great things, just want to encourage what there might be. He should have inherited at least some...

mistlethrush · 08/08/2007 12:42

Scorpio - well done at results - you can breathe a sigh of relief on 2 counts now!

Hope all goes well, keep in touch (can't remember if I've already said that)

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 13:09

MT - he's lucky to have such a talented and supportive mam! Maybe a pair of earplugs for the early days may be called for though

yes scorpio - don't forget us!!

scorpio1 · 08/08/2007 13:18

will keep popping back i expect im on antenatal April too if you want to see me!

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 14:05

hello and hello toomuch!

Only been ttc for two days and already seeing babies and pergnant people everywhere plus our sex life is completely different. Slightly feeling like we are supposed to be having rampant sex all the time.

Someone on another thread said to have sex every other day - every other day???! Baby making is quite a lot of effort isnt it?

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 14:12

Hi Millie - yeah sex is different now isn't it! I never know how much it enough and how muh is too much... if you see what I mean! I've been trying ever other day for most of the month and then every day for about 6 days when I think I'm ovulating.. although tbh we get a bit tired towards the end of the month and often have a week off before AF..

Not sure if what we are doing is the right way forward though.. especially since I have no BFP yet..

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 14:20

Toomuch I admire your stamina!

I'll try and step it up a bit. Might even lose some weight...

Are you ttc your first too? Have you been trying for long?
