Anyone else right at the start of a new cycle? I could do with some cycle buddies.

I'm 32, cycle 5 and TTC first baby. Regular cycles of 27/28 days.

Feeling bummed today - I really thought this month could be our month after all the DTD! Had my first TTC cry yesterday. Is that pathetic after just 5 months?!

I think it's fmu, that's what I'm planning to use anyway. Easier than cheapie opks when afternoon testing is better I think.

Wannabemummy22 · 14/07/2019 22:29

How is everyone getting on this month? I'm 10 dpo and I think AF is just around the corner.

Peachyx2505 · 15/07/2019 07:54

Hi everyone

@Wannabemummy22 I'm around 14dpo AF due Wednesday. I think she's also going to turn up here. I've no symptoms at all. How about you? Xx

Skyla01 · 15/07/2019 09:05

Hi, I'm cd17. Have had 2 days of flashing smiley on cb digital. Hoping that means ovulation isn't too far away although I haven't had any fertile cm yet. I'm hoping that AF stays away for both of you ladies!

Wannabemummy22 · 15/07/2019 12:17

@Peachyx2505 I had some stomach cramps a few days after ovulation but that's normal so didn't really pay any attention to it. Also had an increased appetite but think that was because I was on holiday. Still keeping fingers and toes crossed though.

@Skyla01 CB digital sounds pretty easy to use??

Skyla01 · 15/07/2019 18:05

@Wannabemummy22 yes it seems to be so far. Use fmu which is most convenient for me rather than afternoon. The results display is very clear. Just hoping my flashing smiley turns to a static smiley to = peak fertility / ovulation. I think occasionally you might not get a static smiley in a cycle so I'll be happy if it works for me.

Peachyx2505 · 16/07/2019 08:33

@Wannabemummy22 are you going to test? I've ordered some to come today.... haven't ordered any in a few months! Don't know why I did really 😂

@Skyla01 Fingers crosses for your static 🤞🤞

It's a year ago today I had my op to remove my cysty tumours along with my left ovary and tube.... not sure whether it's a good or bad omen 😂

Skyla01 · 16/07/2019 11:47

@Peachyx2505 hope your AF stays away. Sorry to hear about your operation. Amazing how quickly the months go by when ttc to conceive, I find that anyway! At the time of your operation did they say anything about ttc / fertility going forward?

Wannabemummy22 · 16/07/2019 13:18

@Peachyx2505 no I'm going to hold off and wait and see if AF arrives. Since coming off the pill they have been a bit all over the place so don't want to get my hopes up.

Peachyx2505 · 16/07/2019 15:08

@Skyla01 my consultant said at the time that it should not affect my fertility in any way, but you can't help think that it will when someone has been prodding around with your good ovary! I was facing the probability of a hysterectomy, so I'm so grateful she managed to avoid that. DH and I were always in two minds about whether to have another, but as soon as that choice was out of our hands we wanted another!
I've had regular periods since, opks are picking up a surge around the same time of month (when I've done them) and my temps indicate I'm ovulating so hopefully it will happen eventually 🤞

@Wannabemummy22 that's very sensible. The last few cycles I've just waited to. It's easier in a weird way. I doubt I'll test either unless AF isn't here by Friday! 🤞🤞 xx

Peachyx2505 · 17/07/2019 15:48

Well af is here.... again 🙄 on the plus side... wine tonight 👍

Wannabemummy22 · 17/07/2019 17:00

Sorry to hear that @Peachyx2505 here's to next month!!

Wannabemummy22 · 17/07/2019 17:01

@Peachyx2505 out of curiosity do you stop drinking during the 2ww?

Peachyx2505 · 17/07/2019 20:31

@Wannabemummy22 nah not really 😂 if we're out for whatever reason I'll still have a drink, but won't drink at home unless it's been a particularly bad week..... but I always have a bottle of wine in ready for af 👍
DH is a bit gutted this month wondering why it's taking longer this time 😕 not helping a that a family member has announced a pregnancy...

Skyla01 · 17/07/2019 20:36

@Peachyx2505 sorry to hear about AF. Enjoy the wine!

@Wannabemummy22 I've been drinking quite a lot during TTC! Well, I don't go on benders but might have a couple of drinks if I'm out. This ttc might take a long time, plus I won't be drinking once actually pregnant so want to enjoy my social life while I can!

Wannabemummy22 · 17/07/2019 21:41

@Skyla01 @Peachyx2505 I've been doing the same. A friend has said to me don't change your lifestyle until you get the BFP but seeing as it hasn't happened I was thinking of staying off the alcohol.
Always hard when someone close to you announces. Just keep thinking positive and next month will be your month!

Peachyx2505 · 17/07/2019 21:46

Plenty of people get pregnant when they've been drinking so I don't think it has any affect 😂

Due some luck over here for sure.... onto cycle 7....

Wannabemummy22 · 20/07/2019 08:56

Started spotting yesterday so think AF will be here today. Cycle 13 now and wondering whether to give up trying and just leave it down to fate.

Skyla01 · 20/07/2019 13:10

@Wannabemummy22 don't give up! Although I know all the cycle tracking and DTD can be exhausting. Are you trying for number one? Sometimes people take a break for one or two cycles then get back on. Have you thought about going to see your Dr and getting fertility investigations? Most people don't have any reason for not get pregnant, but might be worth getting checked out after a year of ttc?

Wannabemummy22 · 20/07/2019 18:26

@Skyla01 yes baby no.1. I went to the doctors at 10 months had some tests and everything is fine so far now we have to wait 2 months for DH to have his tests. I know it's not that long away but we've already been waiting so long!

Sunshine8888 · 20/07/2019 23:18

Hello I have just read through this thread and recognise some names. I’m on cycle 2 CD3 today and have ordered CB ovulation sticks for this cycle. Last cycle was 45 days and just hoping this one will be shorter! Really surprised at how light AF has been (seems to have stopped on day 3) - I was expecting it to be awful being first one off the pill. Off on holiday end of next week so really hoping DH and I will have plenty of opportunity to DTD (although whether I’ll be ovulating is a different story) but 🤞🏻

Skyla01 · 21/07/2019 10:22

@Wannabemummy22 sorry you guys have been trying for so long. It must be frustrating. Do you find the cycle tracking etc tiring? Maybe could relax the tracking a bit and DTD for fun. It's a good idea to get the ball rolling on investigations, although it's likely there won't be any issues. I would just keep the faith, it will happen for you. I can imagine it sometimes feels hard to keep going every month though.

@Sunshine8888 hiya! It's a bit of a guessing game coming off the pill. Sometimes takes a while for things to settle down, but everyone is different. I'm cycle 3, cd23, eighth day of flashing smiley- not sure if cb is going to get to peak for me. Your situation is hard not knowing if cycle will snap back to "normal" length, or if you'll be in for another long one. If you DTD a lot then you can't go too wrong!

Sunshine8888 · 21/07/2019 11:17

Thanks @Skyla01! I think we have spoken on a different forum, if I recall you have had long cycles since coming off the pill but they are getting shorter each month? I may not use the CB sticks this month now as have read it’s best to have at least two natural cycles. I think I’ll just DTD every 2-3 days and see if I can monitor any CM/cervical changes this time. Then if hopping onto the September bus I’ll start using the sticks!

Skyla01 · 21/07/2019 13:23

@Sunshine8888 it is definitely worth waiting a few cycles to see how things settle down. I've been a bit impatient! My 2nd cycle was a bit shorter (down to 44days). Not sure about this cycle- I don't think I've ovulated yet and am cd23 so might be a similar length. The best ttc advice is really just to DTD as much as possible. The main use of tracking is to know when to DTD, but if you are doing it anyway it doesn't matter. I'll see how I get on the rest of this cycle but not sure using opk helps me much so not sure if I'll use them again. I try to watch for cm changes, but that can definitely give conflicting information too. But maybe I'll start to see a pattern emerging so I note it down in an app.

Wannabemummy22 · 21/07/2019 20:38

Thank you @Skyla01 I do find it tiring and quite stressful if we are away when ovulating and can't DTD as I don't like to waste any time. I've stopped using ovulation sticks and just DTD every 2/3 days after AF. I think that will be the best approach going forward.

Welcome to the group @Sunshine8888 when I came off the pill I also had AF for 3 days. My cycles used to be 28 days and I could usually time it to the hour but not anymore. I can range from 28-34 days.
