Anyone else right at the start of a new cycle? I could do with some cycle buddies.

I'm 32, cycle 5 and TTC first baby. Regular cycles of 27/28 days.

Feeling bummed today - I really thought this month could be our month after all the DTD! Had my first TTC cry yesterday. Is that pathetic after just 5 months?!

Thanks @blackfriars I do feel better with the sunshine thank you. I had a good cry last night too which helped. I'd been trying not to but I think I needed to.

Marleym28 · 21/05/2019 12:57

Oh can I join
In the 32 yr bucket too (nearer 33) and on cycle 4 ttc#1

Static smiley today (CD13)
DTD every other until today, will go to daily.

Is anyone else super tired from DTD? Lol
I know it's fun but I just need a rest 🤣

blackfriars · 22/05/2019 10:57

Hi @Marleym28 and welcome to the thread! Good luck with the fertile window - you're a little bit further along than me!

Today is CD7 for me, so going to get on with DTD every other day from tomorrow.

Question for you guys - what has your approach been on drinking, and has anyone made any dietary changes? I am just trying to stick within government guidelines on booze (though must confess I haven't managed this the past few weeks due to various family events etc.) and make sure I'm drinking lots of water.

I've seen people mention a couple of books on here previously about TTC/the science behind it....does anyone know the names of these/if they are any good?

Hope everyone is doing well :) xx

I'm trying to follow pregnancy guidelines re: diet. Not too hard to avoid pate and liver etc! Soft cheese trying to remember about. Otherwise my diet is fairly healthy so haven't made any changes. Was reading on another thread about the bad effect of caffeine. Might need to think about that one! I'm trying to cut back on booze, only 1 or 2 units, not every day. More than you are meant to drink but hopefully not too much!

Louise190 · 22/05/2019 18:07

@blackfriars there were loads of good reviews on the vitamins on amazon 🤞🏻

I'm CD6 today and the line on the OPK is one shade darker so LH is increasing 🙌🏻 I've been testing every morning as it's my first month I wanted to see the pattern. What's weird though is this cycle I've had cramping every day, even after AF finished!

Skyla01 · 22/05/2019 18:29

I'm about cd7 too. Hoping ovulation comes round fast! This is only 2nd cycle off the pill so hoping I'll be back to a normal cycle length. Going to DTD every other day from tomorrow.

blackfriars · 23/05/2019 09:13

So I'm meeting a friend (who got pregnant first month of trying and now has a lovely 10 month old) for lunch today and just found out she's invited my other friend who has got pregnant TWICE first month trying and is currently 5 months pregnant....totally fine and will be lovely to see them both but I had no idea this process would make me feel so scrutinised, and also a bit deficient weirdly?! Does that make sense?

Looking forward to going on v delayed honeymoon with DH next month and escaping everyone's watchful gaze for a bit! I'm probably being an idiot and nobody is actually thinking about it (apart from MIL but that's another story!) but it does feel like I need to excuse the fact that I'm still not pregnant sometimes.

Really wish I hadn't been so open about the fact that we were going to start trying straight after the wedding before we got married last year!!

Sorry, just needed a vent!

Sounds tough @Blackfriars - part of me thinks people like that give hope (if they can do it in one cycle then I can do it in several, right?) but at the same time there is the jealousy alongside the happiness at seeing their gorgeous babies.

I am Cycle Day ten and have just ordered It Starts with the Egg.

Dweebette · 23/05/2019 12:24

@blackfriars that's a tough one, I get where you're coming from though. I feel like a bit of a failure and a disappointment, even though it hasn't been long. We also got married last year but delayed trying as we had a daily wedding abroad earlier this year and I was worried about flying in the last trimester. If I had known it would take so long I wouldn't have waited. It's a complex emotion feeling happy for pregnant friends and sorry for ourselves at the same time.

I hope you enjoy the lunch regardless and hopefully don't feel too down about it all. I agree with @sleepyhead11, others can give us hope (except when they say things like "just stop thinking about it and relax", then they can do one)

Skyla01 · 23/05/2019 13:09

I hate that feeling of jealousy I sometimes get when I hear about pregnant friends. I try my best to be happy for them but at the same time can't help feeling down myself. I just hope that I'll have some news to share soon, but time seems to drag when you're TTC! Hopefully it'll be our turn soon. Doesn't help when other people are putting the pressure on too! I've only told 1 family member were ttc but only because I know they took a long time to conceive their 2nd so I know they understand the frustrations.

showmethegin · 23/05/2019 20:04

It's not even just friends. I feel like that little boy from the Sixth Sense, except I don't see dead people, I see pregnant ones; everywhere! Just underlines my frustration and makes me wonder why it hasn't happened for me yet.

mrsawhite · 23/05/2019 20:10

Not at all. We are cycle 7. So upset it hasn't happened yet.

Am CD 20. Can't even be bothered to symptom spot this month!

Good luck to us all!

Sleepyhead11 · 23/05/2019 22:17

I saw a bloody beautiful baby in the queue at Tesco today. I couldn't stop staring at him. Huge brown eyes, like I imagine mine would have as DP has brown eyes.

Louise190 · 24/05/2019 11:38

Fertile window starts tomorrow! 🤞🏻 for this cycle!

keeponsmiling2019 · 24/05/2019 12:00

Morning. After a very short and light AF on Sunday, on to CD6 for me today.
@mrsawhite- I too am getting sick of symptom spotting now. I've convinced myself so many times now that I'm pregnant only to get a BFN. I think when people says it happens for them when they relax, really I think it's just that we get tired of looking into every little thing after a while!

My twin sister had her first baby in Dec (the time I came of the pill) so needless to say I am very broody and try to not be jealous of her beautiful baby.

I have ran out of OPK so just going to trust my cycle knowledge now and DTD CD9, CD11, CD13 and CD15. Hopefully this will help DP feel a little less pressure!

Good luck to everyone for this cycle

blackfriars · 24/05/2019 13:25

Thanks for the support yesterday guys - I embarrassingly ended up having a bit of a cry at lunch when one of my friends asked me how TTC was going. I guess it was kind of inevitable as I've been trying to hold in feeling emotional about it....always better to cry it out! They were lovely though, and it's always good to chat these things through.

DTD yesterday on CD8 and I am feeling SO much better now we are back in the saddle (chortle). I think it's the week of AF and the few days after when you know you aren't pregnant and you can't do anything about it that feel a bit hopeless and sad.

@Sleepyhead11 - I'll be interested to see how you find the book! Please will you let us know if it's any good?

@showmethegin - I am seeing pregnant people EVERYWHERE too! Is it just that we are noticing it more now TTC? I swear half of London wasn't pregnant last summer!

Hope everyone has got some lovely plans for the sunny bank holiday weekend, and good luck for this cycle. What dates will everyone's AF be due? Mine is 13 June (also the date I am meant to be moving house.....sounds relaxing) xx

OP posts:
Louise190 · 24/05/2019 15:11

@blackfriars sometimes it's good to have a bit of a cry and let it out. My AF is due 13/06 also. Fingers crossed she doesn't come!!

Skyla01 · 24/05/2019 15:14

My AF is due on 13th too! Although this is only 2nd cycle so not sure how accurate that app prediction is. Hope I ovulate next week as I'm on holiday without DP the week after so could miss ovulation if my cycle is long this month.

@louise190 how long do you consider fertile window to be? Is it the 6 days before ov?

Louise190 · 24/05/2019 15:45

@Skyla01 according to Glow the fertile window is 7 days, including the day after predicted OV. I am using OPKs and monitoring BBT for the first time this month so that will give me a better idea!

littlelaury · 24/05/2019 16:08

Can I join please?

I'm 32 and on cycle 7, TTC#1. CD 5.

My cycles are regular 27/28 days but I have a fairly short LP and I spot for a couple of days before AF.

I get a bit upset/deflated every month when AF arrives but can't complain to my OH too much as I found out that it stresses him out and has an adverse affect when it is DTD time!

I've lost hope a bit really and feel like we just have to keep going now until it's been a year and we will be eligible to get some tests done to find out if everything's as it should be (...and then probably keep going some more).

Good luck everybody Smile

blackfriars · 24/05/2019 16:50

Hi @littlelaury and welcome to the thread :)

It's hard to strike the balance between sharing with your DH and not dragging them down with you isn't it!

I totally understand feeling a bit hopeless, but I always like this statistic:

"If you take women under 37 years old with no known fertility problems who got pregnant, about 45 percent of them will have conceived within three months, 60 to 65 percent within six months, 85 percent within a year and 93 percent within 18 months"

That's 20-25% of people who get pregnant in the 6-12 month window. Fingers crossed that's us! x

Skyla01 · 28/05/2019 13:29

I was wondering how you ladies are getting on? I'm cd13, no sign of ovulation yet (last cycle had 2 or 3 days of ewcm). Only my 2nd cycle after stopping pill a few months ago so I won't be too surprised if this is another long cycle. But was kinda hoping my cycle would regulate this month. Will keep DTD every other day and wait for ovulation... I think the not knowing makes it harder!

Wishing56 · 28/05/2019 13:42

Hi hope you dont mind me joining a bit late but i am similar dates to you all.
I'm cycle 6 of TTC #1. Today is CD13. AF due on 16-18th June.

First month using OPKs and took first one yesterday and had a faint line. App says ovulation due Saturday but have a feeling that the app isnt all that reliable hence why using OPK this month to try and pinpoint the dates better.

Fingers crossed for all these late Feb babies!

blackfriars · 28/05/2019 14:07

Hi @Skyla01 - I'm CD13 too. Had flashing smiley on clearblue digital ovulation test yesterday and today, but no sign of the static one yet. Judging by previous months I'd expect it on Thursday/Friday. I have FINALLY worked out how to log ovulation tests into my Clue app (doh) which has adjusted my predicted ovulation day to CD16/17 rather than CD15. Would be interested to hear if anyone else ovulates a bit later than apps usually predict! Fingers crossed for you that your cycle regulates this month - I had the coil out last November and it's so frustrating waiting for things to get back to normal - I sympathise!

DH and I managed to DTD on CD8 and CD12 (missed CD10), and planning to DTD every day now until three days after static smiley.

Hi @Wishing56 - welcome to the thread! You are in exactly the same place as me - CD13 of cycle 6 TTC#1! I'd definitely recommend ovulation tests - I've found it really useful understanding exactly what was going on. Let us know how you get on with them!

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 28/05/2019 14:29

Tbf I'm only cycle 2 with cycle 1 being 60 days long after stopping pill, so I probably shouldn't be trying too hard to predict ov this month. Could happen any time! Just impatient to know where I stand cycle-wise. I might start using opk in a month or two. Which ones do you use / when do you test? Fingers crossed for static smileys and ov by the end of this week!
