TTC First Month

Hi all! I’m new to this app - my husband and I have been married for a year now (I’m 22 and he’s 24) and we’re in the process of buying our first house. We’re so ready to have children - my body is telling me constantly that it wants Kids, I know I sound crazy lol but I want nothing more than to have them. I stopped taking the pill in August and had my first period on the 8th October - this is our first month TTC. Everyone we speak to is telling us that we’re too young and aren’t ready (which really infuriates me!) but it means we can’t speak to anyone about it.... so I thought maybe I’d post on here and see if anyone is in the same boat? I’m currently on the 1ww but I just don’t think it’s going to happen this month... I’ve been taking folic acid everyday but never knew until TTC that it can be a really long process!

Is anyone in the same boat/have any tips? Sorry for the long paragraph!! X

Pickett when is AF due?

FirstTimeMum that’s a nice story Smile good luck with your pregnancy

I’m so excited to see that BFP but also really scared. I’ve been pregnant before and had hyperemesis with it so I know that’s waiting for me. Sad

anewjourney · 10/11/2017 15:21

Sorry, meant FirstMum

PickettBowtruckles · 10/11/2017 15:30

@anewjourney No idea, AF is taking her own sweet time to spring a visit upon me. I'm current on CD36. Had the withdrawal bleed when I took my contraceptive patch off but nothing since, so no idea how long until it's going to come back properly. I don't want to leave it too long before going to the docs as we want to TTC but equally don't want to waste their time if they're going to tell me it can take a while for cycles to come back! :(

kjhh · 10/11/2017 16:24

@FirstMumToBe that’s a lovely story, congrats!

@PickettBowtruckles I know the feeling, I’m getting super emotional about it now but more pissed off than anything. I know how you feel with doctors.. keep being told “it can take months for your cycle to settle” - seems to be the generic answer!

I just want to know if I am or not so I can start planning again!

OP posts:
PickettBowtruckles · 10/11/2017 17:23

That's exactly what I want @kjhh

To be honest I'm 99% sure I'm not pregnant and that's fine, but can I have a period so we can try again?! So irritated. I think I'll give it another week or two and then go to the doctors to see if anything can be done to sort it out.

NelleB · 10/11/2017 17:30

@PickettBowtruckles AF is 7 days later here, this is cycle day 37 for me so hopefully yours will come within the next few days too. I have enjoying crossed for you. I have a Doctors appointment booked for Tuesday as I am the same as you and don’t want to leave it. I’m seeing it as being proactive as much as people say ‘don’t get stressed!’ It’s so hard not too. X

@kjhh I have been exactly the same, we’re only emotional because we want it to happen. It’s not a bad things. Some might say they were overthinking but so what... 3 weeks!!! Jesus Christ. Somebody will have to tie me up. The generic responses are so grating. You feeling telling them to shove the advice. X

I’m hoping by next week somebody on here will have had BFP and we can have some joy 😍.

kjhh · 10/11/2017 19:14

@PickettBowtruckles i know! I know I’ll be a bit upset when AF comes BUT I’d rather have it than just have nothing and BFNs!

@NelleB I don’t think you can overthink it, I just think the people who say that are the ones who either don’t want Kids/got pregnant on their first time trying/not trying. It’s so irritating! The nurse said to me today “stop worrying and have lots of sex and have fun”.... of course I will keep having sex, and it’s always gonna be fun but I’m not doing it for the sake of it? It’s not going to distract me?? Irritating!! X

Totally agree @kjhh i’m happy for those kinds of people who are able to get pregnant without he stress however I will be extra happy for anyone who is really trying there best. I don’t half a agree with it being irritating playing this fertility game, however WE WILL GET the best reward at the end of it all. I’m currently sat with my first fertility chart out... who needs a night out 😂. Where’s the wine?! X

PickettBowtruckles · 10/11/2017 21:50

I'm laying in bed now convinced I'm having period cramps and hoping I'll wake up in the morning to AF. I'd rather have a BFP but AF is progress right now 😂

PickettBowtruckles · 10/11/2017 21:52

(Forgot to add, I also bought 2 bottles of wine in Tesco tonight ready for tomorrow night so when either AF or BFN comes I'll get drunk and be sad for a bit and then hopefully move on!)

kjhh · 10/11/2017 21:57

@NelleB going out on a Saturday night is a myth 😂 I’d rather stay in and baby plan!

@PickettBowtruckles omg! I’m so stressed and I need a bottle glass of wine to sort me out, but I can’t until AF comes! Hopefully AF comes for you tomorrow, have a drink for me too 😩 x

Okay I’m going CRAZY. So I’ve had nothing all day (still no AF signs - cramping, boobs etc) but I’ve just wiped and it’s slightly thicker browny discharge, sort of how it looks and the end of my period. I just want a normal period now - how am I gonna know when I’m ovulating?!!!! Irritated 😩 x

NelleB · 11/11/2017 20:07

@kjhh have you been using any of the apps? I’ve been using clue and ovia to track. I’ve also put my data into fertility friend, online. Two have provided the same ovulation dates as well as the other giving me slightly different. I’ve just gone for the week that covers both with the most fertile day being 30th (from the data I’ve collected since August). My CM was the same as yours Wednesday and Thursday and then AF came yesterday. Hope this is helpful. I’m trying to find the best times of the day to do OPK! Xx

kjhh · 11/11/2017 20:11

@NelleB yeah I use Flo :) oh that’s good to know! Hopefully mine is coming too then! I’ve had it since Monday... if it doesn’t come I’m not sure what to input for AF 😩 xx

OP posts:
NelleB · 11/11/2017 20:26

@kjhh I just put ‘none’ on the ovia one, but the clue one understands that if I put nothing, then it didn’t happen. The clue one has less options but seems to be more reliable. I have no idea what I am doing really, they could all tell me pigs are flying and at this point, I’d believe them 😂

kjhh · 11/11/2017 20:32

@NelleB I completely get that 😂😂

OP posts:
PickettBowtruckles · 12/11/2017 11:36

BFN as expected yesterday so went out with my friends. Drank a bit too much, and feeling worse for wear this morning! Now on day 38 of cycle and still nothing. Feeling very frustrated about it this morning :(

NelleB · 12/11/2017 14:45

@PickettBowtruckles you never know your relax and drinks might help with stress levels and AF may arrive! I hope so anyway...

peterpanwendy · 12/11/2017 16:39

Hi OP, I’d like to join the chat! I am 23, partner is 24, we bought our first home earlier this year and are now both desperate for a baby but worry that people will tell us we’re too young! (No one knows we’re TTC so no ones actually said it yet!) we both have very stable jobs so nothing to stop us but it’s still daunting! I hope it works out for you, I completely get what you mean about not realising how long it would take, I was convinced it would happen in the first month for us but no :( onward and upward :)

kjhh · 13/11/2017 01:22

@PickettBowtruckles I’m on day 35 now and finally AF has come!! So there’s hope... how many days past OV are you?

I feel like maybe the fact that I’m trying has made my body play tricks on me 🤔 AF is super light and abnormal with no pains or anything.. onto the next month of trying 😩 I agree with @NelleB that stressing about it definitely has an impact!! I’m just gonna chill out this month and carry on as normal!

@peterpanwendy hi! It’s nice to see so many of us are in the same boat! Yeah people are so quick to judge even when you’re sensible and have everything (financially and emotionally) sorted, people will ALWAYS give their opinion on why it isn’t the right time... unfortunately I think the right time is whenever our bodies say it is! Xx

OP posts:
PickettBowtruckles · 13/11/2017 10:26

@kjhh no idea how many days past ovulation as wasn't tracking as it was the first month since contraception. We used Ovia as rough guide but no guarantee. My body is definitely messing with me. Everytime I think I'm getting AF twinges I'm like yes, perfect it'll be tomorrow and then I wake up to nothing 😩

NelleB · 13/11/2017 12:07

@kjhh mine is 35 days too! It was longer than before BC. Hopefully AF comes today xx

Emelene · 13/11/2017 13:52

Hi ladies, it's my first month too.Smile My husband and I are both 24. I have been struggling with vaginismus for over 12 months but with therapy we are much better and actually able to DTD now. We've decided to TTC but it's important for us not to have too much pressure so we are just seeing how we go, trying to take a "it'd be nice if it happened" approach.

AF due 29/11 (but variable after coming off the progesterone only pill in August) so we will see! Fingers crossed for you all! Xx

NelleB · 13/11/2017 17:41

@Emelene ahh good luck. I hope this is your last AF, if she comes ha x

kjhh · 13/11/2017 19:54

@PickettBowtruckles snap! And now AF is here all my signs have gone?? No cramping or anything, I don’t feel like I’m on at all! This is evil 😂😂

@NelleB same here - I’ve never had cycles this long at all! Hopefully it does, then onto the next month 😊

@Emelene it’s nice to enjoy it for what it is, it takes a little pressure off... I don’t have the patience though, I thought I’d be okay and just chilled out (if it happens it happens) but I’m actually soooo upset! It’s harder than you’d think 😂😂 xx
