TTC First Month

Hi all! I’m new to this app - my husband and I have been married for a year now (I’m 22 and he’s 24) and we’re in the process of buying our first house. We’re so ready to have children - my body is telling me constantly that it wants Kids, I know I sound crazy lol but I want nothing more than to have them. I stopped taking the pill in August and had my first period on the 8th October - this is our first month TTC. Everyone we speak to is telling us that we’re too young and aren’t ready (which really infuriates me!) but it means we can’t speak to anyone about it.... so I thought maybe I’d post on here and see if anyone is in the same boat? I’m currently on the 1ww but I just don’t think it’s going to happen this month... I’ve been taking folic acid everyday but never knew until TTC that it can be a really long process!

Is anyone in the same boat/have any tips? Sorry for the long paragraph!! X

I bought a 5 pack of cheapy tests and a 2 pack of first response from amazon. Haven't used any yet (no idea how!) but will take the first cheapy one in the morning. I'm sure it'll be negative and I'll be spending the rest of the time until my period comes trying desperately not to take the remaining 6 🙈

NelleB · 03/11/2017 18:36

Correction BFN... wishful typo x

PickettBowtruckles · 04/11/2017 07:22

Yes I got up at 7am on a Saturday to test...

BFN. As expected but still annoying! No signs of my period either though which is annoying, I just want something to happen so we can move on from cycle 1 and try again!

kjhh · 04/11/2017 10:33

@NelleB @PickettBowtruckles same here girls 😩 don’t think this is my month at all, just want AF so we can try again! X

NelleB · 04/11/2017 10:46

@kjhh I am wish the next 2 weeks away! November will be our month x

PickettBowtruckles · 04/11/2017 13:15

C'mon girls, positive vibes for us all that we'll get what we want soon! ❤️

PickettBowtruckles · 04/11/2017 20:18

So I was disappointed but expected with the BFN this morning, but this evening I've properly got the strop on about it. I didn't expect anything different but now feel really gutted?! I know it's nothing and it's only the first month we've tried and tested so really nothing to be upset over compared to people who have been trying much longer but feel really disheartened now.

kjhh · 05/11/2017 11:18

@PickettBowtruckles @NelleB I know exactly how you feel 😩 I just tested again even though I knew it would be a BFN... and I’m actually really sad. Like you said it’s only the first month though, the good thing is it’s fun trying so we’ve got all that again in a couple of weeks ;) I’m just gonna chill out and try to enjoy myself, I think I’ll cry if I think about it too much 😩 xx

NelleB · 05/11/2017 11:40

@kjhh I hope you’re ok! I tested again this morning (BFN) as AF hasn’t arrived... hopefully we’ll all get an extra Christmas present 👶🏻🎄🎁

PickettBowtruckles · 05/11/2017 14:15

@kjhh it's strange how upsetting it is even when you know you're not isn't it!

I def can't let myself get too hung up on it though as was beginning to feel tearful yesterday which was mad!

@NelleB sorry to hear it's a BFN for you as well but fingers crossed for your Christmas prediction!

kjhh · 06/11/2017 15:01

@PickettBowtruckles @NelleB hi ladies 😩 so I tried to relax over the weekend and I’m trying to not put too much pressure on myself... could have sworn AF was coming last night, due on today, and nothing! Now I’m even more irritated because I know I’m not pregnant and just want another month to start trying asap! How’re you both getting on? X

Hiii

Please don't worry about these people telling you you're too young!

I'm 25 and ttc our 4TH!
I have 3 amazing boys.
We would like 1 more and then stop.
We wanted kids young so we have more time with them and are generally more able to run aroumf after them.
(Mum had her last at 43 and struggled a lot)

Ps love myself a good diy programme!

LostMyBaubles · 06/11/2017 15:07

And AF is nearly finishing so we will be on cycle 1 of ttc

NelleB · 06/11/2017 15:08

@pickettbowtruckles I have lost it completely. I’ve bought a thermometer and a chart... as well as the ovulation sticks. I’m in the same boat as you. I feel like the gods are laughing at us, no AF but no BFP. RAGE!

NelleB · 06/11/2017 15:09

@kjhh above... bloody phone x

kjhh · 06/11/2017 15:56

@LostMyBaubles hi! I’m so jealous of you 😂😂 I’d love to be in that position - my mum had me at 22 and I LOVE the fact that I have a young mum, I want the same for my kids. DIY programmes are so underrated!!

@NelleB tell me about it 😩 it’s torture, I feel like that stresses me out more!

OP posts:
PickettBowtruckles · 06/11/2017 16:09

@NelleB the rage is real!! I'm STILL not on and still no signs. I've got a night out planned this weekend with some friends where drink will be involved so going to test again Saturday morning if AF hasn't come, and if it's still negative (it will be) going to drown my sorrows for a night!

@kjhh had an okay weekend except for when I cried when I heard my cousin is pregnant Bought some conception vitamins today I'm going to start taking. I know they don't help actually getting pregnant but feel like I need to do something to encourage myself. Getting really annoyed with no AF and no BFP right now. I swore I wouldn't be that person that gets obsessive and it's month one and I am! 🙈 How're things going for you?

@LostMyBaubles welcome to the thread!

kjhh · 07/11/2017 01:01

@NelleB @PickettBowtruckles I had a drink over the weekend and actually didn’t regret it one bit, I knew this wouldn’t be my month so it felt nice to just relax a bit! I deffo understand, all the girls at work are pregnant and so excited and it really makes me feel like crap! Just wiped and (sorry for tmi) but AF is 10000% starting today... I’m kinda relieved cus I can start again but I’m super upset too :( I will say loads of people have recommended pregnacare which I am tempted to take! I’m just taking folic acid atm and trying to eat healthier just so I feel like I’m physically doing something xx

OP posts:
NelleB · 07/11/2017 07:06

@PickettBowtruckles Oh god yes! We need to relax, and a night out will help with that. I’m the same no AF another BFN again this morning... I can hand on heart say I’ve never wished for AF’s appearance more than now, and that’s for both of us!!
@kjhh i’m taking the seven seas folic acid as well as evening primrose oil (because I bought it for the dog, who won’t entertain them, and apparently, I’ve read somewhere, they’re helpful). Ahhh atleast AF hasn’t deserted us all! 😂 bloody stressful this business. I’m praying for twins xx

kjhh · 07/11/2017 10:19

@NelleB I’ve heard of seven seas, where can you get it from? I’d love twins, my mum had them so she reckons I’ve got a good chance too - I would love love love to have them first time round! Stressful isn’t the word 😩 NO AF THIS MORNING!!! I’m so angry 😂 xx

OP posts:
NelleB · 07/11/2017 10:23

@kjhh I got mine from Asda they were on 3 for £10 (bargain!) oh god! Mine hasn’t arrived either. It’s a nightmare this business. I’m on a 34 day cycle, hoping it comes tomorrow. My thermometer and chart has major arrvied as well £4 amazon! X

kjhh · 07/11/2017 10:43

@NelleB oh brilliant! I’ll pop round to Asda later and I’ll check out amazon too, thankyou! I’m literally going crazy now... so when I wiped there was sort of pinky watery CM.. assumed that meant my period was coming. After sitting here racking my brains I’m like could that have been implantation bleeding? Now I’m super on edge! Xx

OP posts:
NelleB · 07/11/2017 10:46

@kjhh OMG it could have been! Keep us posted!!!

PickettBowtruckles · 07/11/2017 11:03

@kjhh I ended up getting the Superdrug conception vitamins, £2.99 for 30 and they're on buy one get one half price so pretty cheap!

Just read your latest post as well, fingers crossed for you!!! Def keep us posted!

@NelleB I'm on CD33 now as well, still no AF symptoms! So irritated. Waiting until Saturday to take another test though. Just want SOMETHING to happen! I'll keep hoping for either AF of BFP for us both so at least we can be happy or get ready to try again 🙈

webster144 · 07/11/2017 11:26

Hi OP, I feel your pain! We are both early/mid twenties, and we feel the exact same waySad

We’ve been together 4 years, engaged to be married since the beginning of this year (haven’t set a date or even started planning) and in the last few months have started TTC because we just felt it was right for us. I fell pregnant a few months ago in September after our first month of trying, and unfortunately had a miscarriage at 5 weeks in the middle of October which was incredibly heartbreaking for both of us as I lead quite an active healthy lifestyle and felt devastated that I lost the baby.
We’ve been TTC since the bleeding stopped, but finding it incredibly hard as neither of us have anyone to speak to really apart from each other about our emotions and I totally understand how you feel. We are both quite terrified of judgment from people, my mum was incredibly supportive through the miscarriage as I felt I wouldn’t have handled it the way I had if I hadn’t told my mum and had her love and support through it along with my partners...but we are both scared of friends and family being incredibly judgemental if I fall pregnant again due to our age. We both have good jobs, with a good income and own our home. Neither of us are party animals and I would say we are very level headed mature adults. But still, I know there will be the odd friends and family members who will be quite shocked and will make comments such as “oh but you’re so young!” and “what about your job??” I would rather have kids sooner than later and put my career on hold as I have the rest of my life to give my time to my career. I have friends who had babies shortly after leaving high school...whilst we both studied our way through college and landed good jobs, we are both out of our “teen” years, so I don’t see how it couldn’t be a better time. I have found the person I love and want to spend my life with as I’m sure you have to, and what’s wrong with having a baby with them?! I can’t think of anything nicer!

The fact is, do what makes you happy, it’s your life! You don’t have to explain to anyone why you want a baby, or why you’ve fallen pregnant or why you’re trying to conceive. Don’t care about other people’s opinions, because I guarantee once that baby arrives everyone will fall in love and no one would dare make a negative comment! Age does not matter, it’s how YOU feel and when you feel ready! I have a lot of respect for the younger couples out there who have babies and can maintain jobs and a life, and I wish you all the best TTC** and hope you get what you wish for soon!!! Flowers

Lots of love xx
