Hi all! I’m new to this app - my husband and I have been married for a year now (I’m 22 and he’s 24) and we’re in the process of buying our first house. We’re so ready to have children - my body is telling me constantly that it wants Kids, I know I sound crazy lol but I want nothing more than to have them. I stopped taking the pill in August and had my first period on the 8th October - this is our first month TTC. Everyone we speak to is telling us that we’re too young and aren’t ready (which really infuriates me!) but it means we can’t speak to anyone about it.... so I thought maybe I’d post on here and see if anyone is in the same boat? I’m currently on the 1ww but I just don’t think it’s going to happen this month... I’ve been taking folic acid everyday but never knew until TTC that it can be a really long process!

Is anyone in the same boat/have any tips? Sorry for the long paragraph!! X

In total shock!!!

TTC First Month
PickettBowtruckles · 28/12/2017 12:09

Congratulations @wendykennedy !!!

Things going okay-ish @NelleB Currently day 33, had the strongest OPK I've had ever last night though but was cramping?! Added another pic (cause you guys haven't seen enough of my OPK sticks yet 😂) Had to use the ring to get it to focus but the test line is much darker and a bit thicker than the control IRL. Way darker than anymore so either I'm totally out of whack and ovulating 30 days in which I can't imagine is good or as suspected, I still hate OPK's and can't understand them 😂

How're you feeling?

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas!

NelleB · 28/12/2017 15:26

@kjhh oh I really hope it all works out for you. It's just a bump in the road xx

NelleB · 28/12/2017 15:28

@PickettBowtruckles wow 30 days. The positive is that you are ovulating though! Which is great. I'm not sure if it being so late is bad. Just make a baby lots 😂

I'm ok thanks, I've decided to give this SMEP a go and see if that helps the next one to stick. I have started taking all kinds of extra vitamins to make sure I'm doing everything possible x

PickettBowtruckles · 28/12/2017 15:52

@NelleB I'm just a bit confused as I thought I had a positive OPK on CD19, tested over Christmas and all BFN only to now look like maybe CD19 was negative and this is positive as it's much darker and thicker than the one on 19! Trying not to talk to DH about it too much as he thinks I'm focusing on the OPK's too much so thanks for your girls advice!

Good luck with this round to you!!

cupcakesandglitter · 28/12/2017 16:19

@Wendykennedy omg congrats!!! What a lovely surprise x

@NelleB yeah I'm gonna keep ploughing on and try and get more fit first so I could do with a couple of months :)

@PickettBowtruckles omg 😂 are all the OPKs the same brand? I wonder if it's a problem with the sticks? Or maybe you're overovulating idk is that a thing? X

PickettBowtruckles · 28/12/2017 19:17

@cupcakesandglitter all the same brand but different batches. No idea if over ovulation is a thing but have heard you can get a positive OPK but not actually ovulate and then another positive late in the month when your body tries again? The timings would match up a bit better if I did ovulate yesterday, assuming I had a 'average' luteal phase I'd be due somewhere between CD42 and CD48 which is long for a cycle but my last was 51 days and was hoping they'd start to shorten slightly so seems more probable?

NelleB · 28/12/2017 19:35

@PickettBowtruckles I used the same ones last month and using them again. They did show my ovulation on the correct day if that helps. Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 28/12/2017 19:38

@PickettBowtruckles hm :/ are you measuring temp? Maybe try that too and see if that matches with the OPKs? X

PickettBowtruckles · 28/12/2017 19:52

@cupcakesandglitter no I've not been temping but think I might have to start next month as this OPK stuff is getting confusing!

That's good to know @NelleB The positive yesterday is definitely way 'more' positive than the one before so hoping I was wrong before and I'm not out this month, but also don't want to get my hopes up again.

PickettBowtruckles · 29/12/2017 19:36

Struggling a bit today. Had a family get together and quite a few family members will small babies. At least 3 separate people asked when we're going to start trying! I don't want to tell them so just give some vague 'oh maybe next year' answer while inside I'm like FFS just get pregnant already! 😂

NelleB · 29/12/2017 19:56

@PickettBowtruckles I am completely the same. The only help I have for myself is literally looking at every other human being and thinking 'look at all these successful pregnancies'

cupcakesandglitter · 29/12/2017 21:35

@NelleB @PickettBowtruckles snap ladies - since my SIL gave birth a month ago I'm there all the time... I love my nephew to pieces but I want to cry every time I see him

PickettBowtruckles · 30/12/2017 11:11

Glad it's not just me ladies! Last night DH was talking about babies as well which just makes me even more broody 😂 Am trying to keep my hopes up that the positive OPK a few days ago was 'real' and we're back in the game meaning I'm due to test around 9th January so trying not to loose hope until then 🙈

xLeanne128 · 31/12/2017 19:07

@kjhh I keep reading this thread. Im 23 too been with my now husband over 7 years, married this year, ttc #1. How are you getting on xx

Karigan1 · 31/12/2017 19:10

You’re ready when you’re ready. I’ve known crap older mums and good younger mums and vice versa. It’s the person and their personality that makes the difference not necessarily age. You’re married in a stable relationship so why not.

Good luck :)

NelleB · 01/01/2018 14:33

I am so hoping that this time next year we will all have tiny babies. This is my fertile week 🙌🏼

PickettBowtruckles · 01/01/2018 15:43

I so hope so @NelleB

I'm due to test around the 9th/10th January but am already confident it'll be another BFN. I have a lot of exciting things happening feb/march/april so am trying to keep optimistic with at least I'll be distracted. Baby dust for you this week!

NelleB · 01/01/2018 16:14

@PickettBowtruckles oh I have everything crossed for you! I am trying to have a positive mental attitude, see and believe and all that ha x

PickettBowtruckles · 01/01/2018 16:20

@NelleB you too! 2018 is going to be our year! ❤️

dancingunicorns123 · 01/01/2018 16:44

@kjhh I am 18 and DH is 21 and we got married in October and I found out I was pregnant in December!

cupcakesandglitter · 02/01/2018 13:38

@PickettBowtruckles I'm broody all the time 😂😂 @NelleB this time next year I'm hoping we're all mums and talking about raising rather than making them 😂

@xLeanne128 hi! I'm getting on okay, can't wait to start this new job so I can start BDing again 😂😂😂

@dancingunicorns123 omg congrats!!! Such a blessing 👼🏼

Ps ladies I've changed my name because I have a feeling I will have family on here...

dancingunicorns123 · 02/01/2018 20:07

@cupcakesandglitter thankyou! I'm so excited!

PickettBowtruckles · 02/01/2018 22:02

Feeling a bit crampy in bed tonight, was going to do another preg test tomorrow following my continuous positive OPK's, turned to DH and said maybe I won't need to do a test as feel like AF is on the way, for him to say 'maybe they're pregnancy pains not period pains'. I love that man but I could've poked him right in the eyes! Almost certain I'm not pregnant and he's only trying to be nice but noooo don't say things like that because my emotional self gets excited and then disappointed by it!! Anyone else feel themselves going slowly crazy? 😂
