Hi everyone, seems I'm not getting thread notifications anymore!

tygr so that is for 2 rounds of ivf, so lots of drugs, 2 donors and aaaaaaaall the tests that the GP wouldn't do for me. And that is in fact at a discount price as I bought a special 2 round package from Access fertility. I made a saving of around £3.5k buying both together.

My first round before Christmas didn't work. About to embark on round 2 (starting on Thursday).

I'm glad I'm with a uk clinic that is close to me while I get to grips with how it all works. If this one doesn't work, I may well take a 2 wk break in Cyprus and do it there!

I have budgeted and planned big time, I'm full time employed in a senior position, and the nursery/childcare costs are what's going to cripple me, it's like having another mortgage for three years (till the 30hrs free childcare kicks in!) £1000+ a month!

kwick · 21/02/2017 20:03

pez mine is Fairy too Grin
However my hotmail has gone insane with phishing scams from the US and offers of hot sex...

caution please provide photos!!

stork what is money for if not to bring you joy?

Well that was an experience and a half. My bladder was way too full and even after a emptied it slightly, I was still incredibly uncomfortable in the 20 minute wait after the procedure.

I had to get dressed up in a hospital gown, hair net and socks which I wasn't expecting as well.

I've spent the rest of the day on the sofa. I'm having tummy cramps and brown spotting but I know the dr had trouble inserting the speculum as I was 'slightly' tense! Did anyone else have cramps and blood after?

Thanks for the tips Kwick, I have socks and slippers on my feet and sprinkled some cayenne pepper on my scrabbled eggs. Should I start the pineapple tonight or wait until tomorrow?

StorkAhoy · 21/02/2017 20:34

kwick I'm blessed that this is even an option for me. But it's good for me to do a monetary check every now and again!

kwick · 21/02/2017 20:43

cherry my first IUI was SO hard - I had raging thrush (sorry for TMI) and everything was painful!!! I did not cramp or spot but I think that can happen. Sometimes I wear a gown... I think that aspect is a bit OTT though.
Pineapple today if you can Grinand a funny movie.

stork I feel blessed too that I can still try.

I started looking at new donors but it started to hurt my head... no real rush. What I do need though is for the dollar to drop against the pound...

Karendvm · 21/02/2017 20:48

Cherry I definitely had cramps. That's why I always take the day off. But the end of the next day I'm much better. Remember no heat! I've never had to wear a gown. I think that's a bit over the top for what they are doing.

INeedNewShoes · 21/02/2017 21:42

Cherry - happy IUI day Smile

I don't think the spotting is anything to worry about. Brown is old blood so its probably just that the procedure dislodged a bit from somewhere.

Caution - it may well be the build up then drop off that often happens a day or two before the surge. Keep testing!

Pez82 · 21/02/2017 21:47

caution, have you always waited at least 4h before testing? FMU wouldn't generally give you a + as LH gets synthesised in the morning. You should keep on testing until the line gets darker, I've had months when it went lighter again before going glaring dark.

Snork, every time I type 'I' the predictive text suggest IUI. Only a matter of time before I send a message to someone and they ask what does IUI stand for Grin

Cherry, I also had cramps after my IUIs, especially the first one, all normal. Now just relax and enjoy the first days of freedom before the symptom spotting fever catches you 😖

I saw a really funny play tonight, wish I had another IUI done today as it would definitely have been good spasms!

Pez82 · 21/02/2017 21:51

Cherry, by the way, good pelvic muscles to only empty your bladder 'slightly'!!!

My 1st IUI I hadn't drunk enough so I had to drink more and get another scan to check the water had made this way down. The second IUI I was on then verge of exploding!

pickle162 · 21/02/2017 23:20

caution I love testing for LH surge.... fertile window is like 6 days so test throughout-I usually get something around day11 then lines die down but then usually day 14 that I get true positive on LH test so don't think it's not working :) I usually test at lunch time and about 5/6 and that's when usually get best results....& like pez says need to wait about 4hrs between wee to test which is why I usually pee in a pot so I can retest in case it was somehow an accident. I'm away on a course and I'm trying to test LH surger and temperature.....I thought trying to monitor LH whilst at work was hard-this is another level of planning. Temperatures not been bad but really trying to monitor this cycle to see whether I get the spike in temp to see if ovulation is likely happening

pickle162 · 21/02/2017 23:22

Eek and I got the urge to tell one of the ladies about that I was going to have fertility treatment and she said she is off on holiday for 3weeks and then she is having it too (altho married so different situation) we were in the pub so couldn't chat but she is going to knock on my door later so we can chat about it.....small world

witchmountain · 22/02/2017 00:09

Kwick hope your day was as restful as possible but with sufficient distractions. That kind of work situation is never simple. No hurry at all on the donor front, give yourself time. Likewise contemplating a switch to IVI Spain. It's still really early days, you can't expect to be straight back on it, you're human. Is it the logistics concerning you? Or just everything?! Maybe when it's feeling a bit less overwhelming you can go and have a no pressure appointment with a consultant there to see what they recommend and what they think they would do differently to help you, plus how you could maybe use the London clinic for scans etc as you said. Would you consider IVF and having embryos screened before transfer? (Just ignore me or tell me to shut up if it's too early to be thinking about that.)

Caution I only ever got my positives first thing in the morning and never again later in the day if I re-tested, so it really does just depend on the person. After a couple of months you'll work out what happens for you.

Cherry well done! Fingers crossed for you.

I get the fairy ads on the app and nothing else, I guess it can't access browsing history. I don't do a lot of browsing for laundry liquid!

witchmountain · 22/02/2017 07:36

Just noticed how full this thread is already. Is it worth putting the next one in the Donor Conception topic so it's easier for people to find?

Pez82 · 22/02/2017 08:50

So last night I came home to find out someone had driven through my front lawn to park their car in front of their house!!! WTF!!! This is the sort of thing that makes me really stressed 😩. I left a note on the windscreen this morning and if it's still there this afternoon I'm taking pictures of the damages!
Honestly how inconsiderate people can be!!

I think at this pace we can still go through another day or 2 until our thread is full again. We're very active ladies 😁

StorkAhoy · 22/02/2017 09:08

Hi all. I just wanted to share this with you all. Ive downloaded it for this round of IVF, but it can also be used for IUI as we all want successful implantation, no?
www.catchingrainbowsfertility.co.uk/lp/ivf-cheat-sheet/ivf-cheat-sheet.html

The meditations are lovely. and the cheat sheet is great! £7 well spent I think.

witchmountain · 22/02/2017 09:09

Oh yes, it's not about to burst! How weird and annoying about you lawn! You could start a parking thread Grin

kwick · 22/02/2017 09:56

pickle you are becoming a "contraband" pro!!!

witch good advice, thanks. My inclination is to stick with IUI - I mean it did work and is much less intense than IVF.

I am up and dressed - shopping and allotment with my mum today.

pez WTF!!! You need to start a parking thread.... pleeeeeeeease!!!

Thanks for the link stork

If you do not mind I will start new thread - but in a bit. Good suggestion about putting under donor conception

INeedNewShoes · 22/02/2017 10:34

Yes, Pez - you must start a parking thread. It will cheer Kwick up just a little to have an entertaining parking thread to read (no pressure Wink)

How are you doing today Kwick? I hope you're starting to feel slightly more able to face the world as the days go on Flowers

Its good that you're starting to think about getting things lined up for when you're ready to resume your Baby Plan. If Trump carries on the way he is, maybe its not out of the question that the dollar will drop against the pound!

tygr · 22/02/2017 10:56

Just seen the GP. Progesterone level was 27 - which he said was fine, only by comparing it to the post menopausal predicted level! He only gave me the figure because I asked to see. Even I already knew I wasn't post-menopausal.

Anyway, a quick Google says over 30 for definite ovulation but because my cycles vary by a few days, the test actually happened 5 and a bit days before my period started so may well have been over 30 if the timing had been perfect. So I'm not stressing over it and I think it does demonstrate the benefits of doing things with fertility specialists because the average GP doesn't have the specialist knowledge.

I just wanted to get a few things ticked off for reassurance and before spending money but I think I need to decide whether I'm going for this with a clinic now and then go for it.

Enjoy your day Kwick. It's chucking it down so no allotmenting here!

witchmountain · 22/02/2017 11:23

No hurry Kwick we can all amuse ourselves on Pez' parking thread. There has to be photos and diagrams!

Yes, IUI has worked, twice. I think gut decisions are the way to go with this stuff.

Allotment and shopping sounds like a great day. I want an allotment. The closest one to me had a forty year waiting list which has now been closed to new people. There are others over the border in Haringey and Barnet but given that I currently have a balcony filled with dead things due to lack of time, I should probably be realistic about what I could manage!

witchmountain · 22/02/2017 11:25

That post had a long gestation period as I went between meetings.

Tygr that sounds like good news? I think you're right about needing the specialists but at least it didn't throw anything horrible up.

CautionHormone · 22/02/2017 12:28

Thanks everyone - I'll continue testing today, I was just so confused because I didn't even get a line at all!

When I've tested before, I've always waited 4hrs to let the LH synthesise and "build up" - it says online you should wait at least 2hrs anyway and reduce fluid intake, so that's what I've done.

Kwick, how're you feeling?

Pez82 · 22/02/2017 12:37

Tygr, my GP said my TSH levels were fine when I clearly had hypothyroidism - just another example of the benefits of discussing test results with the FC Smile

I hear you all!! Parking thread on its way - as soon as I've created a diagram on PowerPoint to explain the situation 😁😁

Pez82 · 22/02/2017 13:34

Kwick, I've got a thread but I posted it in the wrong category (I put it in 'etiquette'!). I think mumsnet are trying to move it to the parking chat thread.
It's already gone out of control with so many people commenting!
So I'm not sure how you can find it Confused

kwick · 22/02/2017 14:36

pez please can you share the link?

witch our allotment is in Haringey - we had to wait 9 years. In the end we are not going today - my heel/foot is hurting and it is grim out there.

I did have a bath and wash my hair and had a splurge in Superdrug

Tygr result sounds encouraging Smile
