Ttc number 2!

Hello! Anyone thinking of ttc number 2? I have a 6 month old baby and don't want a big age gap between babies. AF has been a bit erratic over the past few months but DH and I have decided to make next month the first month of ttc. Anyone else sort of in the same boat?

Malbec completely get why you don't want to test early. That sounds like an awful time for you. And a horrible disappointment :(

I'm having 4 first response tests delivered off Amazon tomorrow. Really need to put them away somewhere until Monday at least!!

MmmMalbec · 12/08/2016 07:31

Oh it was. I had completely been broken by all the crappy cycles and I was a mess that day of the second BFN! Fortunately I got pregnant two months later so not that long to wait. Even though it felt it! I started temping too so I knew how when AF was due for sure!

How much are they from Amazon? I bought a pack when they were on offer for £6 at asda and they're just sat in my drawer mocking me at the minute!!!

loztredders · 12/08/2016 11:48

Yes Malbec. I got pregnant 3 times each on the first try before so very easily! Unfortunately lost two of them but that's not been related to the shorter than average luteal phase.

Last month I obviously didn't get pregnant but I'm not worried about my short luteal phase anymore.

MmmMalbec · 12/08/2016 12:54

Oh that's great news that your LP hasn't caused any problems in conceiving. Mine is usually only 10 days but I've had a bit of spotting before AF starts this last couple of months so I'm hoping that goes, but I was also paranoid about 10 days not being long enough. Sorry to hear about the miscarriages though. Hopefully this is your month xx

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 12/08/2016 15:05

Malbec that's a bargain! I paid £7.20 per pack of two (50p discount when buying 2x packs of 2)

MmmMalbec · 12/08/2016 15:07

They were on offer last time I went as well, so keep your eye out if you go!!

Sonnet18 · 12/08/2016 20:26

Hi everyone! Wow- loads of new people! Welcome! I'm gutted not to be in club 29 anymore...officially in my 30s...anyway- moving on!
How's everyone getting on? I'm on cd8 of a god knows what cycle length with ridiculously short luteal phase so chances of it happening this month are slim to nil!! This is our first official month ttc number 2- it's quite daunting!

Yeah lots of new people! How was your birthday? It's strange when you start isn't it. I don't think I actually wanted to get pregnant for the first few months!!! Took me a while to get my head around it anyway!

Sonnet18 · 12/08/2016 21:10

It was great! Thanks! Drank a lot of prosecco and ate a lot of food!!
Yes, all the two week wait and worrying about ovulation etc is so frustrating! I'm thinking it may be a while yet for us so don't think I'll be getting too stressed out or taking it too seriously at the moment

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 09:35

Sounds amazing. Prosecco and food are the best!! Hopefully you'll be one of these people who gets pregnant without trying really!

Is anyone due to test soon?

Sonnet18 · 13/08/2016 11:16

Here is hoping! I'm not even in my fertile week yet so I've got plenty time! What about you? Anytime soon for testing?, x

OP posts:
MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 11:35

I'm in fertile week now so got a while left to wait too. Just feel like I've got zero chance this month for some reason!!

How old is your child again? Lost track of who is who!!

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 11:40

Oh sorry you're the original poster aren't you with the 6 month old?

loztredders · 13/08/2016 11:51

I'm 5dpo today and tests have just arrived in the post. Got 10 on amazon for 4 quid just cheap ones but they had good reviews.

I usually just one step but last month z couple had really noticeable evap lines which gave me far too much false hope so won't be buying those again!

Aw Malbec just try to have sex as much as possible and then you'll go into the 2ww knowing you've done all you can!

Sonnet18 · 13/08/2016 11:52

Yep, she's 6 months old. Ideally I would like 18months between babies! X

Which tests did you get Loz? Yeah that's the plan. We kind of missed our chance last month with me being away so I want to make sure we cover all basis this time! It's my birthday on Tuesday which is roughly when I'm expecting to ovulate so hopefully I might make a birthday baby Grin

Oh well that gives you a few months doesn't it sonnet. Have you thought whether you'd like a boy or girl?

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 13/08/2016 13:28

Hello all!

Well... The first response tests are burning a hole in the drawer in my bathroom. Twiddling my thumbs while DS is napping and trying to ignore them. (By twiddling my thumbs I mean sitting down with a coffee whilst it's actually still hot!!)

7dpo today. Going to test on Monday. Which is still stupidly early. That and I'm not hopeful for this month either.

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 13/08/2016 13:51

Just seen the first response tests are £6 for two at the moment at asda!

Thanks for the tip Malbec

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 15:17

9dpo isn't too bad where! Ah glad you found the FRERs. Not too bad for £6 are they! Why don't you think this is your month then?

Does anyone else think being more tired from having a child already isn't going to help with conceiving?! Everything I read about TTC says how vital sleep is to conception Angry

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 13/08/2016 17:48

I don't know. I just don't have any feeling that it might have happened. And it took a while first time round, I just don't think I catch easily.

I'm quite lucky with DS as he sleeps 7-6:30 most nights and I have to get up for work anyway 3 days a week so I don't struggle too much. Now.
He didn't sleep through until he was a year old though Sad and he was a terrible sleeper until then too.

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 18:36

Yeah I don't think I do either Angry hope it's not too much longer though. TTC takes its toll I think.

Ah that's really good then. My DS is hit and miss. We've had a lot of teething recently and currently he has a cough too. Feels a while since we had consistent good nights Sad

Will you post your tests?!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 13/08/2016 19:03

I can't remember how long it took for you to conceive DS? Was it a while? :(

It's shit isn't it. You spend your whole adult life avoiding pregnancy and then when you do want to get pregnant, turns out, it's really bloody hard!!!!

I'll post the tests if I'm even remotely unsure :) love a good squinter!!

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 19:07

Well no it wasn't really a while. But I had some shit cycles coming off the pill so it felt like ages waiting to try properly. I actually got pregnant second month of normal periods. So really I should say my body likes to fuck up when I want to TTC. That seems to be what's happening this time too Angry How long did it take you again?

I know. It's hard to get your head round not getting pregnant when you're actively trying after being so paranoid about accidents for so long isn't it!!!

Ooh can't wait then. I love a good squinter too!!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 13/08/2016 19:40

Oh absolutely. And must feel as well like you can't even begin trying until your cycles even out. Which, when you've decided to try, must be so frustrating and upsetting.

Took us 9 months to get pregnant with DS. I had basically given up hope by the time I did fall pregnant. I was just counting down the months until it had been a year and I could go back to GP for testing.

That said, I was undergoing testing for MS for a large portion of the time we were TTC. So I'm sure the stress didn't help!

Funnily enough, got my formal diagnosis 5 days after I finally got my BFP. Must have been the easiest MS diagnosis my neurologist has ever given! I was still on such a high from finding out I was pregnant, I didn't give a toss when he told me! Grin

MmmMalbec · 13/08/2016 19:56

That's exactly it. First two cycles I had spotting at 7dpo and AF at 8/9dpo so that was never going to turn in to a BFP. Last month the spotting started at 9dpo and AF at 10dpo. So I'm praying I'm heading in the right way. Just feels like we've put all the effort in to try and gone through the start of the horror of the TWW for literally fuck all!!!! So annoying!

9 months must have been a bit of a slog. Yeah sure the stress can't have helped. Did laugh at not giving a toss though!! Does the MS affect TTC at all?
