Ttc number 2!

Sonnet18 · 05/08/2016 20:10

Hello! Anyone thinking of ttc number 2? I have a 6 month old baby and don't want a big age gap between babies. AF has been a bit erratic over the past few months but DH and I have decided to make next month the first month of ttc. Anyone else sort of in the same boat?

Yes, it seemed ridiculously short! Will see what next month brings then may make a visit to doctors for advice (could be a simple hormone imbalance easily corrected with something? Who knows) haha, I don't know anyone who got pregnant first time around!! Yes, I'm the same- looking forward to having the second one and then forget about periods etc!! Would maybe want a third but I do think I would be more relaxed about when and if that happened! Here's hoping we all get what we want over the next few months!

I don't think doctors take luteal phase defect as a serious thing. I mentioned it to my doctor when I was spotted at like 7dpo and she just said it would be fine because the fertilised egg would tell my body to stop a period. I was like yeah but surely the egg has to implant to do that and if there's no time for that to happen I'm not going to get pregnant and she just dismissed me! Since going I've had a Google and a lot of people have said the same thing!!

Vitamin b6 is widely regarded as being successful at extending your luteal phase. It delays ovulation for me though so I'm trying vitamin c this month as there have been some studies that seem to say that works too! But like I say, it's different for you when you've only had a few periods!

I know a few people who got pregnant first month!! Angry haha!! Yeah fingers crossed we'll all get our BFPs soon. I should be in the TWW in around a week or just over all being well!

Sonnet18 · 08/08/2016 10:48

Oh I may have a look at vitamin b, thanks for the tip!
Oh gps are notoriously dismissive aren't they?! They really don't care!! Hopefully I won't need to see mine- I'm looking for a 30 day cycle this month as that's the average of the two cycles I've had plus that was what my old cycles were prior to baby.
I'm nearly 30 (actually very, very nearly...!!) so still plenty time!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 08/08/2016 10:49

I had a very very very faint positive on an internet cheapy and then double checked on an FRER which came up fairly strong considering I was only 9dpo!

I'm 30. My birthday is January. So I'll be at least 31 by the time we have another one!!

I know a couple of people who got pregnant first month of trying. But I think they were just very lucky!

I had a few cycles with short luteal phase last time round. I went to GP about it. She took pity on me and gave me a 'Day 21 Progesterone Test'. Everything came back normal and I think we conceived a few months later.

Ovulated Saturday... Fed up of waiting already!!

What days are you guys due to test? I'm going to have a go next Monday or Tuesday. But it's reeeeeeeeeally early...

MmmMalbec · 08/08/2016 12:18

Yeah they can be a bit shit can't they Sonnet. But I went because I was having mid cycle bleeding one month and she sent me for blood tests and a scan so that was really good. DH also randomly got a sperm test off the back of that, so if my luteal phase sorts itself out then everything is fine with us and it's just a case of waiting it out! Oh how nearly is nearly? I'm 8 days off being 29!

Oh that's reassuring about your luteal phase righting itself..I'm not sure what to shorten your name too, maybe fuckingtuna haha! Absolute killer the TWW isn't it. I usually find I'm ok for the first week and then go a bit crazy after 7dpo ish! I'm hoping to ovulate within a week so it's a good while off for me yet, booooooo!! That's good your FRER was very dark at 9dpo. Reassuring that you can conceive with a short LP as well!

Sonnet18 · 08/08/2016 13:09

Haha! I'm one day off being 30...birthday is tomorrow!! Oh your gp sounds quite decent- that is good that they were fairly thorough with both of you.
Wow! 9dpo is amazing for a positive! I waited until I was one day late I think. I won't be testing anytime soon- my period is just finishing so still a good while for me yet!

OP posts:
MmmMalbec · 08/08/2016 13:16

Ooh exciting!! Are you doing anything much? Yeah she was really good with the tests. DH having to have a sperm test was a bit crazy but fortunately the mid cycle bleeding didn't return last month so hopefully we don't have to get a referral anyway.

I'm going to wait until I'm late every month to test. I can't bare BFNs or squinter or anything, even though I love to look at other peoples! Let's hope for a fast month for you then!

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 08/08/2016 13:28

We were slightly concerned it was twins since I'd had a positive so early. Thankfully (in my opinion) it was just the one :)

Oh! Happy 30th for tomorrow Sonnet! I hope you have something nice planned.

I am incurably impatient!! I've honestly never been cool about anything in my life Grin

MmmMalbec · 08/08/2016 18:18

Yeah I'd be horrified if I was pregnant with twins. One baby is hard enough!!

Me too. So unbelievably impatient and I can't stand anything that I want and can't just directly get. TTC is not my friend Angry

PurpleHaze1 · 08/08/2016 18:51

Hi ladies

Can I join? TTC #2 and also 29 so figure I'll fit in! Grin

DD is 25 months & this is our 3rd cycle of ttc #2. Super impressed with you wanting to take the plunge again so soon!

I think my cycles are all messed up after pregnancy, bf then the implant. I've been using OPKs this month & am yet to get anything close to a positive. I'm CD16 of a 28 day cycle. So I'm either not ovulating this month or it'll be quite late & I'll have the short luteal phase problem too Hmm Or it is possible I've missed the surge. Been dtd as much as possible just in case!

Love the name fuckingtuna ha ha!

MmmMalbec · 08/08/2016 19:35

Welcome Purple! We are making a right little group now!!

When did you have the implant out? Hm, do you usually have other fertile signs to coincide with the OPKs? How long did it take you first time round?

Haha me too. I have respect for people who can just come out and boldly say fuck Grin

PurpleHaze1 · 08/08/2016 20:02

Had the implant removed at the end of May malbec (another great name!). Since then I've had two cycles of exactly 28 days which I thought was great & meant my body was back to normal but the negative OPKs are making me less optimistic! Will just have to wait and see I suppose. Are you temping? I think I'll try that next month if I don't get a BFP this month as I'm now a bit worried I'm not ovulating & temping should confirm that.

I don't want to get thrown out the group when I've just joined but DD was conceived while I was on the pill! I genuinely have no idea how it happened, just a total fluke! I know we were so so incredibly lucky. Please don't hate me!

Dazedandconfusedtoomuchpeppa · 08/08/2016 20:51

Hi everyone. We have just decided to TTC #2 and September will be our first month. I'm 29 and would love to be pregnant again before I'm 30. Started using OPK strips for the first time and think I'm addicted to POAS Grin .

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 08/08/2016 22:28

Lol - feeling really chuffed with my super-sweary nickname now Grin

Nice to see our little group is growing!

Maybe we need a group name.

I'll go out on a limb and say 'fuckingtunas' is probably not suitable in this instance...GrinGrin

MmmMalbec · 09/08/2016 06:09

Purple you might just be missing the surge? Have you seen an increasing dark line? I'm temping to confirm OV this month because of my progesterone test and also because I want to be totally sure what's going on with my LP. Can be a bit hard to be entirely accurate with a toddler though I think! And yes you can fuck right off with getting pregnant on the pill AngryGrin

Welcome dazed! How old is your kid?

Haha yeah perhaps. Out of curiosity, where the fuck actually is the fucking tuna?

Should we recap on stats? I've already lost who everyone is!

Malbec
28 (for another week)
DS is 19 months
On 4th cycle TTC but 2 mega fucked up cycles and one where I only came back from holiday without DH on OV day. So it's probably more like cycle 1 FFS!!!!

PurpleHaze1 · 09/08/2016 06:21

I'm hoping I'm just missing the surge malbec. Time will tell!

Ha ha! I know, I'm a fucking asshole. Who does that!? Let's never mention it again Grin

DD has been up since before 5 this morning. Unfortunately not totally unusual. Thank F for Peppa Pig!

Welcome dazed Smile

MrsY87 · 09/08/2016 06:35

Hi everyone, can I join? we are ttc #2 and I'm also 29, ideally would love to have no 2 before I'm 30 next summer so time is ticking on!

We started trying in March but haven't had any luck yet as my cycles seem to be quite short 22-25 days and opks have told me I don't ovulate until around day 15 so I seem to have this short luteal phase problem too Confused I'm quite new to this ttc thing as were incredibly lucky with DD and conceived first cycle .

It seems a few of us have a potentially short luteal phase, anyone trying anything to lengthen it? I've been reading up about acupuncture so wondering about giving that a go!

PurpleHaze1 · 09/08/2016 06:41

Hi mrsY I think malbec mentioned B6 didn't work for her but it's supposed to be great for lengthening your LP. I've no personal experience of it though.

How old is your DC?

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 09/08/2016 06:49

I don't know if Bridget Jones ever found the fucking tuna Sad

My stats:

I'm 30
DS is 18 months
1st Cycle
Ovulated on 6th
AF due 21st

Last time I got pregnant month 9 after using the clear blue dual hormone detector OPK. But they're fucking £20. And I'm not invested enough yet to pay that kind of money :)

MmmMalbec · 09/08/2016 06:57

Welcome new people!

Ah pre 5am starts are the bloody worst! We use night garden and twirlywoos for entertainment!!

Yeah b6 gets good reviews. It worked for me with DS but since then it's messed me up. But I think I'm in the minority!! I'm trying vitamin c instead. Some study reported a 53% success rate in improving LP. It's generally supposed to be good for fertility too. I'll report back in a few weeks!! I've also been having a bit of reflexology. Largely because I really enjoy it but some people have had success with that. Depends if you believe in all the alternative therapy stuff I guess!

Ah yeah Bridget Jones!!! Yeah I've often looked at the clear blue tests but way too expensive!!

PurpleHaze1 · 09/08/2016 07:01

I bought the CB dual hormone tests last month & have been having a nightmare with them! Basically, both cycles (July & August) they've gone from low fertility straight to peak fertility on CD9 of a 28 day cycle! I'm convinced the device I had was faulty or my cycles are seriously fucked up! Anyway I spoke to CB & have sent it back to them for tests... I love pissing on a stick...and pissing away money it would seem! Hmm

PurpleHaze1 · 09/08/2016 07:05

Recap on my stats:

Age 29
DD is 25 months
3rd cycle
Ovulated - F knows!
AF due 20th August

wherethefuckisthefuckingtuna · 09/08/2016 07:15

Ah purple that's annoying Sad good on you for sending it back. Hopefully they send you a couple of new packs for your trouble!!

So... With DC1 - when did they arrive? On due date? Late? Early?

DS was 3 days early. I was convinced he'd be late for some reason!

MmmMalbec · 09/08/2016 07:33

That's really weird isn't it. Hopefully they'll send freebies definitely! You're supposed to get about 4 days of high fertility aren't you before peak?! Something like that anyway?!

DS was 4 weeks early. But I had pre e and had to be induced. I'll be consultant led this time. Bit shit but lots of free scans at least! Lucky that DS was 3 days early. I'd have hated to go over!

Anyone else loathe being pregnant?! It really wasn't my friend last time. I'm hoping for better this time.....

MrsY87 · 09/08/2016 07:49

Hi Purple, thanks I might look into B6 too, keen to give everything a go.

DD is 22 months so not too much younger than your DD. Ideally we wanted a 2 year age gap but work meant we delayed ttcing for a bit so hoping we will end up getting lucky soon and end up with around 2.5-3yrs...What age gap are you all hoping for?
