Hi all,

Just wanted to start a thread for all of us over 35 just starting out.

I am: 36 (37 in Nov)
Cycle #1 CD 22

I've been 'prepping' my body for this for a year, lost weight, increased my fitness levels and been taking vitamins etc so I feel like I've been mentally preparing for this for AGES, as a result I'm finding the waiting game torturous! I've been tracking my cycles, 27 days average, and using OPK's - just started that this month. We dtd the day before getting a smiley face and then twice on the day we got one.

Are there others who feel impatient/worried like me because you feel time is not on our sides? So bloody stressful!

Blueberry1 always the way!!!

I went to see my GP in London about 7 months into trying and he said it was 18 months now wait for the NHS so to come back to him in February/March at the earliest!!! I've had fertility tests which I also went private for and so far so good.

You are lucky to have short cycles. Mine last 31 days normally, a painfully long time each month to wait!!

Sounds positive so I'm keeping my fingers well and truly crossed for you.

I'm on CD 27. Woke up last night desperate for a wee and feeling a bit nauseous. I started thinking 'maybe, just maybe' then made myself 'get real' and went back to sleep. I've had this before where I started to feel sick and my boobs hurt but I think my head was telling my body to do this in the hope it was pregnant. Cruel!

@SoozC phew

@petiteange - long waiting times & offering you 1st the cheapest option rather than what might suit you best is why my friend advised going private. She says she lost a lot of time with the NHS that reduced options available.

@petiteange - how are you feeling? It's difficult not to over analyse possible signs isn't it? Am driving DP a bit mad with such antics; he just wants brief daily update!

Now CD30 of allegedly 26 day cycle. No AF or sign of it coming, unusually clear skin (my mild acne always flares up pre AF) & swollen boobs. Consulted a pharmacist yesterday who explained that home tests don't always detect BFP until 3 weeks after ovulation as HCG levels can be too low. Based on my data, she advised doing another test on Sunday if no AF, and if that still BFN then go to GP.

@blueberry I'm ok thanks. Still staying positive. Just carrying on as normal. No signs of AF or any pregnancy symptoms so que sera sera!!

Fingers crossed for you. Very very positive signs so far Grin

@petiteange, that doesn't necessarily mean no chance this month for you as some women discover they're pregnant when they haven't noticed any signs.

Am trying not to be too hopeful to avoid huge disappointment (as DP keeps warning...).

blueberry and petiteange I'm thinking of you both and still have my fingers crossed.

I hate the wait with a passion, it's so consuming.

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?

I finally get all our wedding photos back so cannot wait as I've decided not to drink for the rest of the month and need a distraction. The bottle of Cava in the fridge is calling Smile

@iCoco wouldn't say exciting weekend, but quite busy as doing a park run tomorrow, need to start packing as we're moving house in 2 weeks, and have a lunch with DP's family (they're nice & laid back).

Enjoy sorting out your wedding photos; am sure there are amusing ones in there, you know like some Dad dancing shots, little kids pulling funny faces, and Grandma asleep after too much gin Grin

Meanwhile @petitange & I go back to incessant waiting & symptom spotting..

I'm having a weekend by the seaside in Broadstairs with some friends. Today we are going kayaking!

I did a test yesterday as I was worried about having a glass of wine last night. It was cycle day 29 (normally I'm about 31 days) and I got a definite bfn. It's still earliesh days but I've already pretty much got it in my head that it's another month of misery!! Looking ever more likely that we'll be turning to the specialists in October when we are back from our hols!!

Any news for you blueberry??

Morning ladies and happy weekend!

Getting AF and the BFNs sucked, but I did enjoy a few drinks last night Smile AF only lasted 2 days again - hoping it's still just body regulating after birth control and nothing to worry about.

I've also been considering getting private fertility tests - on the one hand I want to deal with anything asap, and on the other want to avoid stressing too much.

AF this morning (5 days late CD31). Boo Sad.

DP kept telling me not to get my hopes up as I would then be very disappointed. While I wasn't fully convinced (I'm 40 & TTC 6 months, 2 of which we missed most fertile days), I was starting to believe "maybe this time". Back to drawing board.

Enjoy kayaking @petitange.

blueberry I'm sorry, that sucks. Your DP sounds lovely, but I don't think they realise how much of a roller coaster this TTC. Sending you big hugs. CakeFlowers

Good luck with the packing, and enjoy the lunch with family.

pyjamas I'm exactly the same, I'd have booked a private fertility appointment this month but DH says wait. If we have no success be the end of Sept I'm doing it Smile

petiteange sorry about the BFN, hope you enjoyed some wine. I'm the same I see that stark white stick and just know. Enjoy the seaside. Wine

My wed pics are fab. Smile I have some unedited ones too so I was trying to learn how to photoshop yesterday, it was bloody hard work.

I got a very positive ov stick yesterday, I'm only CD13 so wasn't expecting it. Unfortunately my wisdom tooth has also decided to push through so I'm in absolute agony and cannot take my usual cure of ibuprofen. I was awake for half the night so my temp is not correct this morning. Angry

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, hopefully hangover free (or not) I didn't mean to drink lager on Friday but it was very nice in the sun, oh well next month I can try abstaining from alcohol

Sorry to hear about AF blueberry - and late too, what a bitch. Very hard not to get hopes up when late, but am sure your dp means well Smile

We'll be getting our wedding album soon too iCoCo! Can't wait Grin

I had a few too many last night and am being very lazy today - not beating myself up about it, am enjoying the relative relaxation before the OPK obsession starts up again this week!

Icoco - developing new skills, I see Smile
@pyjamas81 - hope your wedding photos are nice.

I've had a busy/productive weekend including a parkrun, a nice lunch with DP's family & some useful tidying/sorting and packing (4 boxes of books packed; a gazillion more to go.. ).

On the upside, I was able to share with DP the nice wine his family gave me as a birthday present, and don't have to do subtefuge re alcohol at my birthday dinner this week. Wine

Will have to stock up on OPK sticks again. Was hoping not to need to, but with cycle having gone from 25 days to 31 (!); I need all the help I can get Wink

Morning all,

Hope you all enjoyed your weekends in the sun with a nice glass of something cold!

ICoco hope you managed to get your head round Photoshop. I love photography and have had a play with Photoshop before. It's fun but hard work to navigate. Pleased your photos are good.

pyjamas I've started the private fertility tests just for peace of mind. I had my ovaries checked but I am still trying to push hubby into getting his test. Unsurprisingly he is not too keen!!

blueberry pleased you were able to enjoy the wine! Grin

I'm on CD 31 and normally my cycles are pretty regular at 31 days so am waiting for the inevitable, especially after the BFN on Friday!

Happy Monday

petiteange I hope AF is still absent but if it is going to arrive, hopefully it hurries up. I know as women tests for TTC are very invasive, but I don't blame your DH, I wouldn't want to give a sample either Smile

blueberry The wine sounds lush. Especially after all that packing.Smile

pyjamas it's amazing how much I had forgotten about our day until I looked at the wedding pics, enjoy yours when they arrive.

Photoshop is hard, but I've nearly cracked it, and I spoiled myself to a new laptop so was very happy on Saturday.

I got two positive ov sticks over the weekend and my temp shot up today, I suppose I'm now 1dpo. I will not symptom spot this month. Honest. I have a stable LP so I will be testing on the 28th. No more early testing for me!

I've just started the POAS cycle for this month but I'm just not feeling that motivated BlushI found out my SIL is 11 weeks pregnant- by 'accident' & her first is only 10 months old! It's just p**sed me off a bit & I'm not sure why but it's had the effect of making me want to stop trying for a bit.

No idea why I'm having these bizarre emotions, maybe I'll change my mind when I get a smiley face Confused

How is everyone else's week going?

Hi Elise - totally understandable emotions! This is all much harder than expected Confused

Am back to POAS again as well - got a low yesterday and a flashing smiley face today which makes no sense as am only on CD8! However, I got flashing smiley faces for about 12 days last month before getting a static smiley on CD19, so am in for another uncertain time I think Sad

I was awake for my second wee at 6:30am this morning....4 days late.

Going to test again this morning as this is all getting a bit odd now and have work leaving drinks for one of my team tonight so need to know if I can drink or go for the sly lime and soda!

Have a good day!

Crossing my fingers @petiteange

@eliseV yes how annoying. Although I often suspect some of those accidental pregnancies are less accidental than claimed....

@pyjamas, I have stocked up on OPK and will start POAS again on Saturday.

I checked with clinic change of cycle (from 26 to 31 days in 1 month!) and was assured this was almost certainly cycle going back to pre-pill norms & nothing to worry about. Was advised to start OPK testing as if cycle still short to avoid missing ovulation.

hi all

petitange fingers crossed for the test

elisev big hugs regarding the SIL. It's really normal to feel like that, a smiley face makes it all better Smile

pyjamas fingers crossed for a flashy smile, it's so frustrating when you have a long window.

blueberry1 I agree about accidental pregnancies, although I can see myself saying that too, especially at work Confused
Great news about the cycle returning to normal.

I'm on 4DPO, had no symptoms, although my temp is higher than the last 6 months. It's probably the aftermath of my wisdom tooth pushing through, and I'm trying not to obsess.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun. Have a good evening.

Hi ladies, so I did a test at this morning and got a BFP. I've been a bit in shock all day as I never expected it and thought I was definitely going to get to October and see a specialist. The funny thing is that this morning DH finally had his appointment (after 2.5 months of me pestering him) to get his juice checked Smile I know there's still a long way to go so am very much still preparing myself for the worse and will just worry now for the next 10 weeks!!

As far as symptoms are concerned....I really had none apart from a late period. My boobs were normal, my skin is the same. I did fall asleep at 10pm the other night but even that is not unusual for me. I've been crying a lot at the Olympics but that is also normal pre-AF and actually in general as I'm very emotional anyway.

Also, this month I did the OPK's and got negatives and only DTD 4 times (one twice on one day - big push for me Grin).

I'll stay on the group as I'm still convinced it's not actually happened, or that it won't stick!

Have a good evening.
