Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also known as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit), or PIATLH (Tea light holder), PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage (Self explanatory, who wouldn't?)

ROC = Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like Something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing A Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Ghost jizz/goat jazz - When the amazing foof sucks up all the jizz - achieved when coming at the same time/nearly the same time.

Ain626 · 25/06/2015 22:14

I have just sort of read the last couple of days worth of stuff... Haven't gone back any further though...

But...

Congrats sock for the exam passing

Hello to tea

And loving the country/just scene that seems to be playing out before my eyes.

So... Appointment tomorrow. Is with the gynecologist specialist. Other than asking what THEY can do and what I can do to make ttc more likely I don't really know what to ask about. I'm pretty sure I'm not ovulating. I've had one (day and a half... 3 days if you include spotting...) bleed in nearly a year. I am overweight, but I am working on losing it - currently about 20lbs down. Not much considering how long I've been trying, but its in the right direction. I'm on metformin, but not convinced it's doing much/anything. Been taking it since November, it doesn't really seem to ba having any real effects.

I am really bad at things like this... Confused What can I realistically ask? What tests (if any) can I ask for? Can I ask for provera to bring on a bleed? Possibly clomid to try and make me ovulate?

I'm really hoping I just don't get the 'you need to lose weight' answer. I know I do, and I am trying. And it is frustratingly slowly coming off...

I wonder if I can say 'it's my birthday, can you please give me clomid/other drugs/miracle for my present. Thanks'.

pretzelpieces · 25/06/2015 22:31

Good luck tomorrow ain. Sorry I have nothing more useful to add! Thanks

SockQueen · 25/06/2015 22:45

Good luck Ain - hope they're sympathetic and give you some helpful options.

lildottie · 25/06/2015 22:51

ain what is your bmi? in my PCT

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 25/06/2015 23:53

It's been quiet here lately, except for just country's split personality playing out for our entertainment of course.

I am presuming they'll want to run tests first ain but I think the next step after metformin is clomid. What dosage metformin are you on? That may need to be increased.
well done on the weight loss so far by the way!!! 20lbs is fantastic, especially with pcos. I know how mush of a slog it is just to lose one pound!! But they say symptoms should improve with just a 5% weight loss, so keep at it!!
Have you ever had tests for insulin resistance? If you're still showing signs of that it would be a good indicator that metformin needs to be increased. I second lils suggestion that you get referred to a dietician with pcos experience, but whilst waiting for referral I'd stick to a low gi, low sugar diet. Don't have too much cows milk (some studies say hormones in don't help, though I'm unsure how much hormones get passed through! !!). Add cinnamon where you can as it's good for reducing blood sugar levels. As is exercise. Not sure if you're doing any exercise at the moment but regular exercise is really good for lowering insulin levels. Once you lower the insulin levels, the pcos symptoms should start to reduce, and you should start to ovulate.
Big hugs and Flowers let us know how it goes! !!

Cold – my DH always asks about sticks as he can’t remember where we are in the cycle.

Ain – you are not horrible you are a lovely person having to deal with a crappy day, listen to Lil regarding what tests etc you need, she is very knowledgeable.

Second – Welcome,

Speaking of Carrie-esque moments. Does anyone else use those cup things; they can go horribly wrong if you don’t hold them level whilst taking it out.

Tink – Not glasto but I am missing out on going to Wimbledon this year, mom and I used to go for finals weekend as a girls weekend away since I was about 13. So missing it. She is forcing my dad to go with her now I have left the country J

NFMW – today is CD 1 so I am all go for the tubular recanalisation next Wednesday. Which means more of the antibiotic for the plague that I do not react well to. The upside is that I will be sedated and don’t have to take the cervix medicine so hopefully wont be sick. And more importantly as I defo wont be pregnant by august I can have the kobe wagyu beef steak from Tender in the Luxor in Las Vegas, this is where we had dinner after we got married last year. It is the best steak I have ever had and they cook it medium (which in the UK would be classed rare) so having when pregnant is not recommended.

CountryGal4 · 26/06/2015 06:39

Boom queen lil has spoken! ain the only thing I can recommend is just taking your time and ask any question that comes to mind no matter how silly it seems.

Nfmv 1 dpo wohoooooo! Actually managed to ice. Temp shot up like a beaut this morning!!

5hell · 26/06/2015 06:58

ThursdayLast · 26/06/2015 08:26

Good luck today ain - I didn't understand 99% of lils advice, but it sure looked good!

NFMV - no news

lildottie · 26/06/2015 08:49

ain bear in mind I went through the fertility process with different issues so I'm not totally clued up on the pcos side of things. cold seems to know what she's talking about on that front though so hopefully between us we've covered it for you! good luck, let us know how it goes x

SecondCupOfTea · 26/06/2015 08:57

ain I'm afraid I have no advice, but I do wish you the best of luck in your meeting today.

Discussion over dinner last night, went something like this...

Him: I've been having a read up about conception.
Me: Oh yes?
Him: Yes, it seems there's something you should be having everyday.
Me: Sex?
Him: Can't remember what it's called..erm...oh! Cod liver oil, yes that's it, cod liver oil.
Me: Do you mean folic acid?
Him: Oh yeah, I meant folic acid.
Me: And sex.

Got my portion of sex yesterday. Forgot to take my folic acid.

Tinkfromlovejoy · 26/06/2015 09:35

ain good luck, if you've lost 20lbs (good work) you need your bloods retesting.

Depending on what trust you're in you'll be provided with different support. Make a list of your symptoms eg:
Acne and ask for referral to dermatologist.
Or hirsutism, ask for laser ( some trusts may still offer this) (( I got both of these referrals about 12 years ago))
You may or may not get the referrals but it's worth enquiring.

Re your missing period. Short of sending out a search party I don't know. Wink I've always suffered the other way and had extended, heavy bleeds. I'm not sure if a chemically induced bleed will, in turn, induce ovulation. I thinkin your shoes it'd be the clomid I'd want, rather than progesterone??

You can do this! Waves Pom poms Smile

SecondCupOfTea · 26/06/2015 12:43

Meh, I can't access the spreadsheet (used Opera and Chrome and both times get an error).

Double meh, my internet test strips didn't arrive in the post today even though they're not due until tomorrow at the earliest

Triple meh, I can't test for at least another week so god knows why I'm annoyed they are not here!

MyBlackCat · 26/06/2015 12:57

Good luck ain I got an early morning jizz bomb so doubled our chances this month. Also had all my blood tests and scan results back which show I am normal and functioning correctly Smile DH has to do sperm analysis now but not sure when he will be able to do it.

In more exciting news, next weekend I am off on my holidays, I'm a bit of a book worm when away and tend to get through a book a day! A number of threads back there was a good discussion on books with some recommendations but I can't find it.... So does anyone have any book recommendations for my holidays - open to anything, with the potential to read 8-10 books when away I am happy to mix up the genres.
