'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Well I would print off this article and show it to them!
"The effect of emotional support, supplemented by ultrasound in early pregnancy gives `success rates' of between 70 and 80%"
I would say that was pretty significant!

lissielou · 27/01/2007 22:12

thats a fab article. my gp is v good (thank god) but still think that the medical profession forgets about the emotional aspect of mc

rubles · 27/01/2007 23:39

Good luck for Monday UKI - I think you'll be fine by the sounds of it.
We must be in synch you know, because I was going to post on here about the value of TLC to recurrent miscarriage sufferers after having just read it in Lesley Regan's book.

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 00:03

Hi catbabymummy. The brown discharge is normal. I had that for about a week following 2 weeks of red blood when I miscarried. It should mean that it's coming to an end soon. How are you?

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 00:08

Interesting article Uki - thanks for link. Both of mine have been around the 7 week mark.

Catbabymummy · 28/01/2007 10:44

PLummymummy - I'm actually feeling okay! Thatks for the reassurance about the discharge, it stopped again and have been discharge free since yesterday morning.
Had a scary moment, work up at 5pm, had an awful nightmare that it was a few months from now and dh had died not long after miscarriage. I was very upset in the dream and then when I woke up, dh wasn't in bed beside me, thought he gone to the loo but he wasn't so I started shouting for him and he had had insomnia (he had a tooth pulled on Friday and the pain in his jaw was keeping him awake) and was downstairs. Was so relieved when he came back up.
Despite that, feel positive, me and dh bd'd this morning, and none of the soreness from last time... yippee!

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 11:15

dh decided on natural analgesia!! Did it do the trick? Glad you're feeling ok (upstairs and downstairs!)

cazzybabs · 28/01/2007 11:26

My period started today - which was kind of (had a little cry in the bathroom) because it means I really am no way having a baby...

but must stay postive because it means can re-start trying to TTC again!

lissielou · 28/01/2007 11:28

help!!!!

lissielou · 28/01/2007 11:29

so sorry cazzy

Catbabymummy · 28/01/2007 11:50

aww poor Cazzy, big hugs to you...

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 12:34

Sorry about af cazzy but at least you can date your pg when it happens. Lissie don't worry about the couple of beers - v unlikely to harm pg. Do you still feel pg? I heard HCG can stay in body for 2 weeks post m/c. I didn't test as I didn't want to see a +ve knowing it was -ve! Would be nice if dr was wrong. Do you have access to early scans?

lissielou · 28/01/2007 16:37

got scan on tues. didnt have this with my previous mcs has anyone else had this?

lissielou · 28/01/2007 17:08

dear god, someone stop me. just googled bleeding in early pregnancy, completely ignored the mc sites, and only went onto the sites announcing, i bled heavily with all 7 pgs and i have 8dcs.

just want to know now

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 18:31

only 2 days to wait. Hope it's good news.

lissielou · 28/01/2007 18:54

thank you, so worried.
what if its retained products?
do i have to take a bag with me?
should i test in the morning?
am i going totally loopy?

fettle · 28/01/2007 19:58

Hi Lissie

Poor you! I hope it is good news, but it could still be old hormones left. How much did you bleed? I didn't bleed as much as I thought I would with my last mc at 4.5 weeks just before Christmas and I had a BFN on 28th Dec. I know I then ovulated again about 11 days later, as I noticed EWCM and had a temp shift on 8th Jan, therefore, I'm pretty sure that my BFP on friday is a new pg.

I did worry that my first weak BFP a week ago was left over hormones from mc, but the fact the re-test on Friday was so much stronger and my boobs are so sore, I hope it is a new pg. I had some mild spotting yesterday, so scared I'm going to lose this pg as well, but I suppose that's par for the course once you've had miscarriages. hopefully my GP tomorrow will be understanding and arrange a scan as early as possible.

If yours does turn out to be retained products, unless there is an emergency I wouldn't think that they will keep you in immediately to do the op. With my 1st mc, I had to have 2ERCPs and in both cases I had to wait at leasts 3 days after being told I would need one. However, it won't do any harm to bring some things in with you, just in case!

I do so hope that it good news for you.

Take care
x

plummymummy · 28/01/2007 20:32

Hi Lissie, I think you normally get a bit of notice if you need an EPRC. Just to warn you (don't mean to make you even more anxious), they won't always do it even if it's what you want as it depends on the size and location of the retained products. That's if it is retained products, as obviously we are all hoping it's a healthy pg

lissielou · 28/01/2007 20:33

it wasnt nearly as much as prev 3mcs prob not as bad as an af. not many cramps either, just backache. BUT.... bfp is def much stronger than tues, or even weds.

how many w do you think you are?

lissielou · 28/01/2007 20:33

did anyone get a bfp after mc then?

ammylovesbabies · 28/01/2007 20:35

Could it have been a multiple pg with loss of one foetus? Any scans up to now or first one on tuesday?

lissielou · 28/01/2007 20:38

well, thats what i was thinking, we have twins on mums side.

tbh they werent even going to scan me then but i put my scary head on and threatened a sit in with media intrest, along with a negligence case for my pg/birth with ds

fettle · 28/01/2007 20:41

Hi Lissie

I think I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. My bleeding before Christmas was red bleeding for about 5 days, but wasn't anywhere near as heavy as normal AF for me. But as I'd had a BFN, the EPU counted me as an early mc and wouldn't scan me as it would have been complete. There were some clots and tissue while I was bleeding, but no pain really. I was worried that I may have some retained products, until I noticed the EWCM and then had a definite temp shift a few days later (my temp had dropped following the BFN, another sign that my mc had been complete).

Hoping there will be no complications from having conceived so quickly after last mc.

Oh, I hope it is good news for you. Sorry, I can't quite remember all your details, is there any chance this could be a new pg?

Take care
x

ammylovesbabies · 28/01/2007 20:44

lissielou, negligence? what happened?

That word makes hospital staff shit themselves

Catbabymummy · 28/01/2007 20:45

Lissie. I too go for my scan on Tuesday. So I will be with you in spirit. I'm hopeful for no retain products too, I pretty sure i did have a complete miscarriage.

Okay, ladies I think I might need a reality check here. The main bulk my m/c occurred between the 14th and 17th of Jan. dh and I had unprotected sex on 23rd Jan. We just got back from church, and started feeling nauseous. Managed to get into the house in time to throw up. Now dh was driving normally, but was typing on his mobile. That sort of thing doesn't normally make me feel sick. When I fell pg first time around I actually started vomiting only a few days after dh and I bd'd around my ov date.
Is there a chance I might be pg? Should I tell them at the hospital before I have my scan? Will they slap me and tell me not to be so stupid? Please help!!!!!
