'TTC after a miscarriage - new thread'

Well tried to add my bit to old thread and we have reached 1000 posts again!!
Chocolatepeanut, am so sorry for what you are going through, although you sound as if you are handling it well so far. Hope things aren't too bad for you in the coming days.
Rubles, sorry if AF does arrive, bloody bitch! My blood tests will be next week. DP sperm test threw up 'abnormal sperm' and he needs to go and discuss with the GP later this week although she did say it wasn't too much to worry about. Been meaning to start a new thread on this but haven't got around to it.
I'm looking for a yoga class to try and help me relax! Do think this whole TTC is stressing me out so much, I'm so conscious of age gaps, both our ages working against us, even worrying about if we do conceive in next couple of months as worked out it would be a July or August baby (my oldest is July born and is struggling bit with school etc). Part of me thinks it may do us all some good if I just stop ttc for a couple of months, then the other half panics about an even bigger gap, etc!!
How on earth do you all manage to relax about all this stuff??

Let's cross all our fingers and toes for Edie!

plummymummy · 19/01/2007 18:10

Hi everyone. Also hoping for good news from Edie. Thanks for well wishes re birthday and happy birthday to Lissie for sunday and belated to Duchesse for Monday. So sorry to hear about the malpractice you've suffered D4phne. I hope it can be resolved without too much trauma for you. Cazzybabs, my miscarriage lasted for 3 weeks (finished 2 days before xmas), then I got af on 6th Jan. I understand what you're going through and how much happier you'll be when your cycle gets back to normal. Catbabymum sorry to hear about your m/c, hope you find this thread supportive.

rahrah1 · 19/01/2007 18:13

Also hoping for good news from Edie. Crossing all fingers, toes and anything else that is hanging...

Catbabymummy · 19/01/2007 20:58

Thanks, plummymummy.
A question if I may, when you got your af after m/c, fopr those of you who had more than one, did your cycles settle straight away? Or were you irregular to start with?
I was just wondering whether this something I should be aware of when try to work out my most fertile period.

EdieMcredie · 19/01/2007 22:12

Sorry everyone I had to go straight to work after scan.

Saw the little baby and its heart beating!!!! It measures 2.6mm and apparently looks fine. It's not twins, they don't even think there was a second sac now-apparently it looks like a bit of bleeding, prob implantation.

We even have a photo!!!

Hormones measure at over 25,000 when the norm is around 10,000!!!

lissielou · 19/01/2007 22:16

cazzybabs · 19/01/2007 23:33

Congrats Edie, so happy for you
I have twin brothers, I was 5 when they were born, mum said they were hard work, but they were so cute. Now they are 27, and a pita, no that not that bad, just big sis talking

Lissielou - are your migraines normally hormonal (i.e. get worse in line with your monthlies)? I was the same when I was pg, had awful migraines, ended up signed off work they were so bad. Get to your gp and get him/her to give you codeine, it's safe during pg and I found it really helps as it helped me to sleep.
It's one of the things they don't tell you before you get pg, that hormonal migraines get worse with your rising oestrogen levels . Oh well, at least I'll be prepared next time, gp gave me a big enough stash of codeine to go into business

lissielou · 20/01/2007 08:32

they are def worse round af, but theyre also a side effect of my ads

fettle · 20/01/2007 09:12

Great news Edie! Hope you can start relaxing slightly now and enjoy being pg!

Take care
x

rahrah1 · 20/01/2007 10:15

Fantastic news Edie... although twins are great, it adds extra risk to the pregnancy. So it's good that the pregnancy is not high risk..

Really hope that you can now relax and start to enjoy everything...

Lots of love X

Mumpbump · 20/01/2007 21:03

Really pleased to hear that you got to see your baby, Edie!!! Lucky you!

Re: af after m/e, Cat, can't remember with the first one, but my first af after the second one was literally one month later with a further light bleed on my normal dates. Have no idea when to expect the next one so I imagine it sometimes takes a little while to settle down... Not very helpful!!

lissielou · 20/01/2007 21:15

sorry cat, only just looked at your prev post. my 1st was 2 1/2w later and stop start.
after my 2nd mc it was 6w later and v heavy, after my 3rd mc af was normal. after all 3 i was up and down for a good while, iykwim

plummymummy · 21/01/2007 00:24

lissie. Maybe you could swap places with your dh Fab news Edie - delighted for you. Catbabymummy, in answer to your question, I had two m/c's last year one at the beginning and one at the end of the year. Both times I fell back into my usual cycle.

fettle · 21/01/2007 09:29

Hi All

Been a bit silly - done a pg test a few days before AF due and it weak +ve. Now I'm terrified, I never thought I'd conceive the 1st cycle after the mc. I know that you are generally advised to wait at least 1 cycle, for dating purposes, but is there any other reason? My last mc at Christmas was so early, that I'm not going to tell anyone for a few weeks, even my family. But thank goodness I've got you all. I am so scared, I really hope this is a case of 3rd time lucky.

I think I'm also worrying a bit as my mc bleeding was much much lighter than a normal AF and I would have expected it to be much heavier. But as I had had a BFN, the EPU refused to see me and scan me, so I hope that everything was back to normal inside. I feel so stupid, I was so desperate to conceive again, but it took between 9 and 10 months to conceive the last couple of times, that I never thought it would work immediately this time.

Sorry to go on, just very very scared of losing another one. Also got quite bad AF pains, which I've had for a week now, so keep thinking AF about at arrive.
x

lissielou · 21/01/2007 09:37

the main reason youre advised to wait a cycle is for dating purposes, and once you have a bfn its classed as a complete mc. when is af due?

rubles · 21/01/2007 09:39

Hi Fettle, I've just seen this. Blimey there is a lot for me to take in here. I didn't know you had miscarried your last pregnancy as I haven't been around. So, so sorry.
But congratulations too...although I understand how scared you must be feeling. Do you have any other symptoms? I think the AF pains are a good sign - although they probably don't feel like it to you.

I have no advice, as I really don't know how people get through this after a m/c without being completely petrified. How do they??
Go and have a lie down, take a breather, hug and kiss your dd and try to bide your time until you can test again in a couple of days. Hopefully then you'll have a stronger line and that might help you believe it.

All the very best,
xxx

fettle · 21/01/2007 16:04

Hi Rubles - How are you? So good to hear from you, i've missed you. Are you feeling in a better TTC frame of mind, or still taking things as they come?

Yes, unfortunately, the first cycle DH got back I conceived finally, it was a mammoth cycle, I didn't actually ovulated until about CD43!! Anyway, at around 5 weeks pg, I started spotting, which turned to red bleeding for about 4-5 days, but never very much. We were away at the time, but when I got home, I did a pg test and it was BFN. So as Lissielou has said it was considered a complete mc, but just after the complications I had after my 1st mc and having to have 2 ERCPs for retained products, I was quite worried something might be left. However, I noticed EWCM 2 Saturdays ago and then my temp shift on 9th Jan, so amazingly my cycle seemed straight back into a pattern I've never really had before!!

Anyway, the BFP this morning is amazing as it took so long the last few times to conceive that it was shock first cycle round and part of me worries as it was a first-response test that it might be picking up low level hormones from the previous retained products, but then I wouldn't have had EWCM or a temp shift would I?? I take comfort Lissielou that my earlier BFN really did mean that I had a complete mc and maybe this is a real new pg.

Just going to see how next week goes, AF would have been due tomorrow or Tuesday, with spotting already, which hasn't started, so if still nothing by next weekend, I'll test again on Saturday and hope that it is stronger. It wasn't that weak, you could definitely see a line, but it was just weaker than the test line.

Anyway, girls thanks for listening to my rambling. feel free to ignore it!

take care
x

Catbabymummy · 21/01/2007 18:39

Oh, fettles, not surprised you are on tenterhooks, I'm still bleeding from m/c and am pretty scared about when I start trying to conceive again. I really hope it is good news, definitely would be best to wait until next Saturday before re-test. Wait will be very hard, but we're all here to help you through it.
Pardon my ignorance, I'm not familiar with a couple of the terms you've used. What do you mean by CD43? and EWCM? Ta!

ejt1764 · 21/01/2007 19:34

Sorry, have been over-run with work for the past week and a bit, and we have an inspection starting tomorrow ....

fettle - good news about the +ve - I hope it all goes well for you this time around ...

edie - great news about the scan ...

cazzybabs - af came back after 24 days after my 1stmc, but the second was a lot further on & I had complications .... anyway, then af didn't come back for nearly 7 weeks. it depends on the individual

catbabymummy - sorry to hear of your loss - I too decided to 'get straight back on the horse' (so to speak) straight after my mc - here's hoping it all goes well for you ...

d4phne - I really, really, really feel for you - I hope that things start to go well for you very soon.

Af due on Tuesday for me - I've started feeling really sick, but don't know whether it's because I'm stressed out because of this inspection - I can't wait til Tuesday! (or Friday for that matter - why, oh why did I go for ttc this month - haven't I got enough worrying to be getting on with?)

take care all, will try to pup in more often ...

ejt

fettle · 21/01/2007 20:17

Thanks for your support ladies - I'll keep you updated.

Catbabymummy, CD = cycle day, ie number of days since start of last AF and EWCM is egg white cervical mucus [the things we discuss on here!!]. You produce EWCM just before you ovulate and is a great sign of fertility. Look out for it!!!!

Catbabymummy · 21/01/2007 20:47
