This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Hello please can I join? AF just arrived so next month will be month 11 of ttc our first. I am 34 this month and DH 37. Starting to feel a little worried now. Had a CP in June which was weird as it happened almost too early in the month.

Cycle around 30 days on average and progesterone test came back at 31.

Just all a bit Sad

Hello clue welcome to our very lovely friendly group Grin

I see you have already been badgering your GP for tests (i got sent away with a flea in my ear until reached 12 months!) If you don't achieve a pregnancy in the next few cycles there are other tests they can do for you and your other half.

Let me see... its been a year since I started tests! as well as the day 21 progesterone test I had bloods on day 3 to check for signs of pcos (lh:fsh ratio). They test you both for std's. The man will get a sperm test or 2. You will probably be offered an ultrasound scan of your uterus and ovaries and maybe a hsg where they inject dye through your tubes to check for blockages. I wouldn't worry too much about all those at this stage though it can take up to 2 years for normal healthy couples. I read somewhere about 98% will be preg by 24 months or something.

Hope I havent scared you by too much information. Any questions just ask as we are a fountain of ttc knowledge from both experience and googling far too much! And reassuringly we have had several recent bfp in here with very little need for much medical intervention :-)

How do you feel?

OP posts:
lildottie · 09/02/2015 22:47

honestly Vic stunned! and relieved that all the emotional turmoil was worth it. still a bit apprehensive as official test day not until Wednesday but there was no mistaking the line on the frer. dh reckons we're having twins! we have a scan at 7 weeks so will fond out then. I've been having symptoms since Friday - nausea, wind and weird muscle stabby feelings.

and remembering a convo we had Vic of 11eggs I have nothing in the freezer on the ethics front so food for thought maybe? x

lucieloos · 10/02/2015 07:38

That's brilliant news lil, I have been checking back hoping to see your bfp Smile
Im getting nervous now as we could possibly be starting our first cycle of ivf when AF arrives in March. I always thought I would still have 2 more tries naturally but I'm thinking of getting an endo scratch next cycle so it would mean we couldn't try. I am about to ovulate at the moment so this could be our last chance. I do want to go ahead it's just in some ways it's hard to accept it has come to this as well, a real mix of emotions, don't know if anyone else had felt this way?

Metalhead · 10/02/2015 07:41

Fantastic news lil, congratulations! I hope you have a healthy, uneventful pregnancy. x

lildottie · 10/02/2015 07:46

I definitely felt that way Lucie and so did dh, but it honestly wasn't that bad. I didn't have scratch so can't comment on that but our issues were with dh not me do we were quietly confident that if we got embryos we'd get pg.

Vic how's things with dhs smoking?

Mamama31 · 10/02/2015 07:48

Awh lil that is amazing!! I had a great feeling about this I really hope it all works out well and how wonderful if it is twins!!! I'm sure you can't wait ti find out, I'm so happy for you. Rest up and get DH to take good care of you (I know he will) after all your hard work and stress. Keep us posted please, this is fab news for this thread :)

Mamama31 · 10/02/2015 07:49

Lil what was DH issues? Sorry I forget. I am hoping that as I have concieved and had a child that ivf will also work for us.

Lauraqc · 10/02/2015 07:57

Brilliant news Lil congratulations! Have been checking in to see :) so pleased for you!

Argh well I've had a really bad night - left ovary pain and backache, so bad that I called GP out of hours service...he queried if I was preg...only ov'd on Friday according to FF. Did an ultra early HPT this morning just to put mind at rest before I go GP in a bit and saw the faintest hint of a second line - but I've come out of shower and its disappeared! Stomach is grumbling (but I did vom 3x last night) and got sore nipples. Let's hope I'm not just praying for symptoms and making them up in my head!

lildottie · 10/02/2015 07:58

good count but v low morphology and borderline motility but on the day his sample was in normal ranges. I swear it was the regular ejaculation before treatment that contributed, as his count went down. but he did 1000mg vit c from July and ditched all the caffeine. he also did high protein diet with me and lost a bit of weight as bmi was borderline overweight.

lildottie · 10/02/2015 08:00

oh Laura wow! talk about limbo! what test was it? my ICS have shown sweet fa except a shadow but frers clear as day

Mamama31 · 10/02/2015 08:07

Lil that's interesting, when you say regular ejaculation, how regular?? DH is also on 1000mg vit c amongst many other things....he rattles with vits haha! we are waiting on his latest sa result and I'm very interested to see what the result is since he started on all the vits!

Lauraqc · 10/02/2015 08:14

Interesting to hear about your DH Lil, mine has low count so low they couldn't tell motility...we're also waiting on second sample result Mama. Lil it was one of those eBay 10ml test strips, I didn't think anything would show at 4dpo anyway but got a bit of a shock and now I'm wondering if I imagined the whole bloody thing!!!!

lucieloos · 10/02/2015 08:26

Thanks lil it's good to know it's normal to feel this way. I think it's similar for us as in the majority of the problem lies with DH who has fairly low motility. My amh score was also borderline low but when I had my ultrasound scan last year she counted at least 11 follicles so I'm just hoping the same that if we manage to get some embryos from them hopefully we will be successful, we are having icsi because of dh's side

Mamama31 · 10/02/2015 08:26

Be careful laura I've had loads of evaps on those tests. Good luck I hope the doc can give you some clarity what's going on and that DH results come back good too. I am hoping for better morphology than 7% even though our specialist doesn't see this as an issue and we are hoping for less antibodies- last test was 20% but again the specialist said he thinks this is a red herring! Will be interesting to see if things are improved with all the vits!

Metalhead · 10/02/2015 08:26

laura not to put a dampener on things but if the line disappeared again after a few minutes it was probably just the dye travelling up the strip. I've had that a few times with the ICs, got all excited at seeing a shadow only for it to disappear again... Still, fx for you.

lildottie · 10/02/2015 08:37

mama I remember count had dropped from 88m previously to 37m but morph had increased from 3%/4% to 15%. can't remember motility but 12% sticks in my head, unless that was morph and motility was 15%. his prev motility was 4% then 20% so don't think clinic were worried about it but we we're icsi because of morph. on the day his sample was good enough for ivf so we had to choose. we did 6icsi and 5ivf. got 4icsi fertilised and 3ivf and one of each went back. I have pics of them!

I've never had an evap on an ic test. and when I have seen something on them it's stayed once dry and been bfp - either from trigger and now being pg.

Lauraqc · 10/02/2015 08:43

Thanks Metal I've never had that and would rather be realistic! Will see how I get on over the next few days, but fx!

Lil I'm so happy it's worked out for you, exciting times! Xx

Mamama31 · 10/02/2015 09:59

It's amazing isn't it lil! Seems SA's really are changeable also, and the vits must really help too. That's great you got to try ivf and icsi, such a miracle when you think how it all works.
