This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Best of luck for Tuesday Lil! Let us know how it goes. That sounds weird re the leaking protein - is it cos you've been so good at eating protein there is too much down there?

Metal - sorry about the BFN had them too many times myself and it's always a let down even when your are expecting it!

victoria401 · 24/01/2015 21:46

All getting exciting lil, good luck for Tuesday hun x

Sorry for the bfn metal, when is af due?

'caught' dh smoking again. Not a happy bunny :-(

Does he think I was f-ing born yesterday or what?! Does he think I'm stupid!?

Got home today to whiff of smoke so went up to dh and sniffed his beard (as you do) and yes smoke. Confronted him, he says no definately not, he 'swears on his life' that he's not been smoking. I decide to let it go...

Bear with me... This morning I was sorting the washing basket and put back a few items that needed hand washing etc. This evening I decided to remove them too from the basket. I found one of dh's work tops right at the bottom,it def wasn't there this morning. So I stick it under my nose. Absolutely no doubt now, cigarettes.

My mind drifts back to earlier in the week when I noticed my sequin hand wash only sparkly top on top of the washing basket, when I know it was at the bottom, and I jokingly asked dh if he'd been rummaging in the dirty clothes! Now I know why! He was burying another cig smoke covered item!

Confront him again, no he's not been smoking. Tell him about the t shirt. Oh guess what, he admits it this time. I'm angry he's been smoking, angry that he's lied to me and angry that he hasn't kept to his half of our bargain. He was to give up smoking if I gave up drinking for Jan. I have, even though its been tough at times with all the crap news. Don't know what to do...

OP posts:
Metalhead · 25/01/2015 07:43

That's annoying vic, especially the fact that he's been lying to you. I guess he was probably ashamed that he'd caved in and smoked again? Has he cut down at least, or is he still smoking as much as ever? Well done you for not drinking anyway.

AF not due until Tue/Wed for me, but a BFN at 11 dpo has always meant not pregnant in the past so I know I'm out.

Lauraqc · 25/01/2015 21:24

Hey all, been away this weekend with barely any signal. Vic sorry to hear your DH hasn't kept his part of the bargain...that's not very fair at all is it.

Welcome to the newbies, and hope your journey with us is short, in the nicest way!

Lil bet you're really excited to get cracking now! Brilliant!

Metal I'm facing researching places next month and really need to start reading up on places...

So I started with the soya isoflavones this cycle, and have been dtd at all the right times. I think I ov'd a couple of days ago - had spotting (which I never get) on Friday and then really weird pulling/period pains yest and general discomfort in right ovary area. Had a glass of wine but didn't fancy it. Today I feel drained and just crap tonight. I'm wondering if i actually ov'd earlier than I thought..? Got a BFN on Friday but am now living with this awful 2ww which is kind of a new experience for me cos of the lack of cycles...!

lildottie · 25/01/2015 22:59

vic i'm angry and upset for you! I can't believe he went back on your deal and then lied to your face! I'd kill him! But agreed, well done you on the not drinking. That's not easy with all this added stress.

landy the protein thing is something to do with my ovaries responding so well apparently Confused

Trigger shot done. Nerves starting to kick in but definitely still excited! Just wish I didn't have a mountain of work to do this week!

tutsyflower · 26/01/2015 20:12

Hi Ladies
Its been a while from I posted I haven't felt very positive lately with no hope because im not showing signs of ovulation and have had CD 21 done twice with the results 3.0. Whaiting on my second fertility testing appointment whicg we will get the results of DH SA also.

Well im feeling quite hopeful today my last 3 cycles have lasted 40 days so far and we DTD round about time ovulation should have happened if it did at all. CD 36 today took pregnancy test BFN but we its been 10 from the ovulating slot so I have hope this month. :)

lildottie · 26/01/2015 20:18

tutsy are you having test done on cd21? if you have a 40 day cycle you should have test cd33

victoria401 · 27/01/2015 12:59

I think that test should be called the "luteal phase progesterone test" or something instead of the precise day 21 test as GP's and worried ladies alike can get confused!

11eggs and dhs sample in normal ranges today! will hear tomorrow about fertilisation.

Metalhead · 27/01/2015 15:49

Great news lil, fx for good fertilisation rates!

AF cramps are ramping up here, I expect she'll be arriving in full force tomorrow. On a positive note I got accepted for a volunteer job today, so that should give me something else to focus on.

Lauraqc · 27/01/2015 19:54

Everything crossed for you Lil!

So DH had his sa test today (after the hospital lost his last sample in November) - he spent 20 minutes trying to get parked and was told at 10:05 am that the clinic was now closed. I could scream. We've got our follow up appt with the consultant on 18th Feb - now DH is going to have to get another day off work and probably we'll have to postpone the appt. Just fuming.

lildottie · 27/01/2015 20:15

oh Laura why is the system so useless?! annoyed for you. maybe go together next time so one of you can stay with the car? that was what we did.

victoria401 · 27/01/2015 20:27

Omg, you're not at my clinic are you? Parking is shocking there! I can't believe this has happened to you Laura. I hope you can get another sample in before your appointment. Not that he should have to. Closed at 10am?!

All sounds good *lil, can't believe its all so close to the big day! I have everything crossed for you!

OP posts:
Landy10 · 27/01/2015 21:53

Lil - 11 eggs so exciting! And you've got your DH into normal ranges?! Do you think it's all down to lifestyle/diet? Are you feeling ok post collection?

What a nightmare Laura. That is seriously annoying. Is your hospital near a bus / train route? We always take the bus to the hospital. Did he just need to drop off the sample?

Lauraqc · 27/01/2015 22:31

So so annoying, I've only just allowed him to peck me on the cheek tonight! I know it's not entirely his fault but I can't help but feel he's let the team down.

It's Bedford Hosp Vic...I can't justify both of us having the day off work to just drop the sample in, and also I've had to take loads of leave with my dad going into permanent care and having to keep some spare in case he gets worse...none of which is conducive to having stress free sex!!!

The silver lining may be that I get a few extra weeks to keep losing weight for that elusive

victoria401 · 27/01/2015 22:31

Did he actually have an appointment time slot? Our clinic has a drop off car park, 20min parking max or maybe he could hire one of their rooms?

Yes lil how did your dh improve his guys? I know you've been eating differently, has he too?

I'm.cd9 today and I feel ovulate-y weirdly. Crunchy bubbly belly. Hopefully not! Still getting over my uti and don't want to damage my tubes again by dtd!

Good luck tomoz lil! X

vic we've both been doing high protein low gi diet for about 4 months. Dh hasn't drunk for 12 years and has never smoked, and he has cut out caffeine almost completely in the last 6-8 months too. He's also been doing the 1000mg a day of vitamin c, as well as fertilaid vits. He did the fertilaid vits over the last 3 months as they are so expensive so he used what he had left spread over the 3 months before ec scheduled. he's also lost about a stone in weight in the last few months and got his bmi back into healthy range. he was only slightly above the magic 25 but who knows what difference it has made.

We have 7 embryo's as of this mornings phone call. 4 from icsi and 3 from ivf. they will call tomorrow with update. won't know when et is until they see what the embryos are doing. could be tomorrow, could wait to see how they are doing.

victoria401 · 28/01/2015 15:29

Great embryo count lil, fingers crossed they keep dividing! Are you having one or two put back if you can? Or do they only put 2 back in older mums?!

Dh's bmi is 30 point something which makes him just obese Angry he needs to get more active seriously. But he can't even walk up the stairs without huffing and puffing for 10mins after! I run up the stairs always! No way am I getting fat and out of breath! My bmi is a perfect 22.

Had a dream last night that I had a toddler girl called lizzie (not on our list of girls names)

OP posts:
Landy10 · 28/01/2015 16:01

That's interesting regarding your DH sample improving through healthy living. My DH is doing high protein with me too, although he is still having one coffee a day and I am off caffine completely. he's also been off the booze since 1 jan but does have a stag night to attend before I will have egg collection but he has been so good and has always had good samples so I am not going to complain about that one. I'm just paranoid he did good samples before and then it's going to go bad for some reason!

That's great you have 7 embryos! Exciting/nerve racking few days ahead for you!

lildottie · 28/01/2015 18:18

depends on number of good quality embryos on et day. if 5 or more they can only put 1 back under hfea rules. if less than five we can choose to go with 1 or 2.

kept busy today so the wait isn't too bad so far!

This is a lovely read :-)

lildottie · 28/01/2015 19:14

so true! even the bit about ivf not being that bad.

Landy10 · 28/01/2015 22:05

Cute story and rings so true.

Lil - have you read that on the hefa website about more than 5 embryos? I looked but couldn't see it. I would be interested to read it - if you have a link could you post please?

lildottie · 28/01/2015 22:06

no it was what we were told at clinic. its to do with hfea trying to reduce multiples.

Landy10 · 29/01/2015 08:58

That's interesting cos at my clinic they say if you have 3 or more embryos they only put 1 back due to guidelines.
