This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

different clinics interpretation of the rules I guess.

I have blood test at 11 to check the pain I'm still in is normal and all being well I'll have one transferred.

Landy10 · 29/01/2015 11:00

Fingers crossed for your bloods being ok and transfer goes well.

lildottie · 29/01/2015 15:22

so 7 became 2. 5 were not good quality, one was grade 1 today and one grade 2. because less than 5 good quality we had option to transfer 1 or 2. We decided to go with 2 but we have none to freeze.
So i am now incubating a grade 1 IVF embryo and a grade 2 ICSI embryo. Guess i won't have to worry about the ethics of left overs then! Reminds me of the conversation we were having the other day vic i was so sure with an amh of 40 we'd have plenty of eggs and that we'd be guaranteed some to freeze, especially with dh's sample being in normal ranges on the day. But even with all that on our side we have no "spares". There are just no guarantees in this game

Mamama31 · 29/01/2015 16:02

Hi ladies. Mama31 here. Been awol for a long while- not much new to report apart from treatment wait is going to be 8 or 9 months from now. DH has had SA repeated though as Professor said he thinks the 20% antibodies is a red herring and he's not concerned about his SA at all but wants to do another to double check. Will have review in 3 months to decide on treatment then 6 months from that for treatment to begin- very long waiting times here.

But anyway enough about me, I literally popped on to say to lil, I am rooting for your little embys on board and will be praying for you and checking in on your progress. Really hoping for a pos result :) can I ask how you ended up getting half ivf and half icsi?

Metalhead · 29/01/2015 16:07

Everything crossed for you lil that those two beans are making themselves comfortable in there! Do you still have to wait 2 weeks to test, or is it just one? [clueless]

lildottie · 29/01/2015 16:08

Hi Mama good to hear from you! and thanks for the well wishes. sorry you still have such a wait on your hands!

We were originally recommended ICSI because DH had 3% morphology and 4% motility. Because his sample on the day was 15% morphology which is normal we were within the parameters for IVF so we were given the option to do all ICSI, all IVF or do a bit of both. We had a couple of small eggs so to give those the best chase we did 5 eggs as IVF - leaving them in the dish overnight gives the eggs time to mature before fertilisation but ICSI is a there and then approach. We did 6 ICSI because in our minds dh's bad results were still there so we wanted to do some ICSI as a back up just in case. As it turns out our best embryo is an IVF embryo.

lildottie · 29/01/2015 16:09

Thanks metal. They say to test 2 weeks from today but i'm planning to test daily from tomorrow to watch the HCG trigger leave my system so i know if it goes positive again its real!! Also feel i need to know if I have a positive that goes negative to know if there are implantation issues in case we have to do a second round (unfunded)

Mamama31 · 29/01/2015 18:14

Thanks for the info lil, very helpful. I'd love the option to try both as well, hopefully that will be the case for us when the time comes. Wow it's all happening for you now. Best of luck!! X

Landy10 · 29/01/2015 19:45

Great that you have 2 onboard Lil. Shame nothing to freeze guess it's what they say - it's a bonus if you get anything to freeze. You'll be spending a fortune on digi tests!

victoria401 · 30/01/2015 14:58

So exciting for you lil I hope at least one of your embies stick for you. How would you feel about twins though?!

Hiya mama nice to see you :-) Sorry you have to wait so long for treatment. Postcodes suck. Keep in touch yes?

How are you getting on landy?

OP posts:
lildottie · 30/01/2015 15:21

I have a stash of ICs for now Landy!!

vic its odd, before i was putting two back to give me the greatest chance of getting one and as long as I got one that was perfect, but now they are inside me I feel connected to both of them and I want them both to survive! 12 months ago i was totally against twins but now i'm ok with it.

Mamama31 · 30/01/2015 17:55

I think I'd be the same lil. Funny how things change isn't it? How are you feeling physically? Do you feel any different? Sorry I'm living through you as my treatment is sooooo far away!

Yes vic ill always check in here for good news, but I have found that I can live my life without obsessing anymore which is good. But do like to check in from time to time to see how you all are and to see if anyone else has got a little miracle! Take care ladies, praying for you always.

lildottie · 30/01/2015 18:35

not really any different mama, was quite tender and sore after egg collection but its finally easing off. couldn't stand for long for first day or 2. the idea of my husband cooking got me back on my feet tho!

Lauraqc · 30/01/2015 19:46

Aww Lil thinking of you lots, hoping for good news soon for you. I think it's a good idea to be testing and as you say you can notice the difference.

I'm beside myself today - had pink spotting last Friday and stabbing pains in ovary last Saturday (which I think possibly could be ov pains), then pink spotting again 2 days ago and then brownish spotting this morning. Quite crampy but no af as yet. As I'm reading this back I'm thinking I'd be saying 'you could be preggo' but I haven't tested (and don't intend to until as long as I can hold off) and I'm doubting very much that I am. I just dare not believe it. Need some MAJOR distractions tonight!

lildottie · 30/01/2015 20:33

try and put it out of your mind Laura, if ovulation was last sat/sun you need to wait at least 4-5 days before testing. and bfns are just distressing. um I realise my plan to test daily makes me a hypocrite! fx for you.

Lauraqc · 30/01/2015 23:16

Ha lil you've got a brilliantly valid reason to test daily so go for it :) this is a whole new world for me cos I think this is only my 2nd cycle where we had a bit of a shot at it! Been watching Pitch Perfect which has taken my mind off it all - can't promise not to test tomorrow though!!!

Well AF came but so did my next appointment for RFC thank god I had to chase them for it but it's here now. 9th of March that mean it's going to be 5 months from the last appointment so anoying.

Lauraqc · 31/01/2015 23:45

Something like af for me too today. If it's af its unusually light but hey I'm not complaining. If I get full blown af tomo that'll be a miraculously perfect 28 day cycle - a first for me!

Other good news - in our private consult the Dr said he thought DH had Y chromosome micro deletion but results arrived today which were clear! Yay! He's got a new sa appt next week after failing to deliver his one to the Hosp in time this week ha.

Hope everyone else is having a nice wknd.

Mamama31 · 01/02/2015 12:02

Tutsy that's a long wait, sounds like our time frame whereabouts are you if you don't mind me asking? what waiting times were you told at your last app?

Landy10 · 03/02/2015 22:14

That's good news about your test results Laura. One less hurdle and all that!

Lil - how's the 2ww? Impossibly slow I would imagine.

Victoria - have you made any decisions about treatment or are you just going with the flow for now?

I've started my stim injections. It took me about 5 minutes to stick it in first time (yesterday). Hubby was like do it or I'll do it, so eventually I did it. Tonight was much much easier! Bring on first scan next Monday.

Hope everyone else is going well!

Lauraqc · 03/02/2015 23:07

Great Landy you've started your injections - it gets very real from now I imagine!

Echo re Lil and Vic - how are you both doing?

Af never arrived for me properly so frantic googling over how heavy af could be and finally did a HPT last night which was negative. Don't totally understand it though. If it was af it came and went within 2 days. Now I don't know whether to take more soya isoflavone tablets as a start of a cycle?! Also - TMI alert - I've had a lot of clear cm yesterday and today. Have no idea what on earth is going on!

lildottie · 03/02/2015 23:47

hi all. I'm doing OK. trying to keep busy and it's not going as slowly as I expected. embryos are day 7 today so we are halfway there! dh keeps talking to them which is really sweet.

also thinking of you here Vic

landy that first injection is hard to wrap your head around isn't it! its a doddle after that though.

Laura hormones can fluctuate and cause AF length to change so if you had a negative hpt I'd say treat it as a new cycle. my afs changed over our 2yrs ttc as my hormones settled after the pill. they got lighter and shorter and some months id have a random heavy bleed again. it doesn't mean anything is wrong. my lining was always "perfect" at scans.

victoria401 · 04/02/2015 08:58

Hi ladies, sorry I've not been posting but absolutely nothing going on my end! Just another month of trying naturally! Need to jump on dh tonight again and then begin the 2ww....

Laura I can't imagine how frustrating it must be not to have proper cycles :-( I have no idea what to suggest about whether your light bleed was af. Er probably?! Sorry.

landy good luck with your injecting and scans! I think I'd feel the same bout the needles and be hovering over my belly for ages plucking up the courage!

lil that's so sweet dh talking to the embryos! Surely that must be encouraging them to stay! When is your official test?

OP posts:
lildottie · 06/02/2015 21:42

official test day is Wednesday Vic. started to imagine symptoms today lol!
