Couldn't stand a Fred with only a couple of posts left so I filled it up!

Here is the 13th installation of the Just Shagging saga. If you're a bit lazy relaxed in your approach to getting upduffed, come over here for a natter!

Fred rules;

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share Brew and Wine with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo;

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce Envy in other posters).

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in!

Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

Contraband = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly opk's or temp charting. They are Contraband Shock Wink

Quark - try not to stress. If I was you I'd play it down. When/if she asks why don't you just say that you are putting TTC and talking about it on the back burner for a bit because you're finding it stressful and that you're just going to see what happens. That way you'll hopefully avoid all the questions because she will back off once she knows you're stressed about it.

Another good way of fending off questions is to ask loads of them yourself so she doesn't have a chance to ask you, but you can only hold out with this method for so long I find.

Have some good fending off one liners too like 'Well, we'll see . . .' 'Who knows, eh?' and 'All we can do is hope for the best', etc. and then put them on a loop if she won't give up. Grin

Hope this helps.

Hi Quark I have been having similar problems with fending people off. I am moving house on Valentine's Day so have been using this as an excuse for the last 6 weeks. Do you have anything similar (sorting out finances, settling into a new job, etc.) that you could use to put people off for a few more months?

Shagging every other day at the minute, moving house in two weeks and due to POAS 19th February Grin so hoping this month will pass quickly and the TWW won't be too awful!

Quark, Bear's advice is spot on. I need to listen to this advice too. I've realised I give out too many mixed messages. One minute I'm saying things like 'three children is quite enough'...the next I say how I'd love another but our house is too small/we're getting on a bit/a fourth cs is risky etc. All of which have elements of truth!

I do know though that it's best to be quite guarded about who you do tell the truth to. When TTC #3 I told way too many people as it took longer than I expected and I got bored. But in the end this made the pressure ten times worse.

I too might POAS sometime after Valentine's day. I think it's unlikely that I'll need to as we've only DTD twice. I'm not convinced I've even ovulated yet and DH is out playing rugby tonight so will be in no fit state later on!

hi froggy too scared to test, Im having a very weird time, no spotting but lots of light cramps, some quite viscious cramps an some stabbing type pains fuckin hurt tbh all very new and different to my norm, may just be a wtf cycle! But im hoping. My lower abdomen is a bit puffy and tender too.
Im going to try and hold out till Friday, then I'll either have AF or she'll be due and I'll be more likely to get a BFP. I hope anyway.
My OH is sure cramps mean Im not preggo, he's probably right as spotting last week and a few clots cant be good but I just have this nagging feeling.

no will power im a wuss, every BFN brings me down and makes me depressed, im trying to keep my positive mental attitude as long as possible lol....deluded arent I! Blush

No cleo, I had cramps that meant I was certain af was on the way....identical pains. Looking at all my dates now it seems I must've had implantation around 9dpo of 10dpo. I even tested on those days so no wonder I got a bfn. Even if u get a bfn in fri, it doesn't mean ur out! My only other symptom really was burping, lots!!

Report
MotherOfCleo · 30/01/2013 22:01

I really hope so frog I dont get cramps normally and this month Ive had heaps of them ever since about 8/9dpo, also the clots are totally out of character and by now I would expect spotting but they've stopped....as I said wtf cycle lol

Report
frogchops · 30/01/2013 22:02

So how many dpo are you?

Report
MotherOfCleo · 30/01/2013 22:04

I also had an unmistakable metalic taste and excess salivation at 9/10dpo.
I'm currently 14dpo, AF due on Friday....I seem to have a slightly long LP.

That is good then hopeful and excited for your BFp Smile, i'm still a bit crushed after getting AF, I was so sure i was up duffed, but no not for me this month, i feel like my body was playing a really mean trick on me Sad also found out that one of my pregnant work colleagues won't be coming back after she has her baby so that has made me extra Sad

Report
MelodyHarmony · 30/01/2013 22:36

Oooooooooh Cleo I can't help feel a little bit excited for you. I don't want to get your hopes up but I know exactly what you mean when you say you feel preg (I definitely had that feeling with DC2, I didn't really have any symptoms to speak of but just felt different). I've never had any implantation or other mid-cycle bleeding so I can't help you out with the spotting. And all of my pregnancies have had the sort of cramps I get in the week running up to AF. Not the horrid, heavy cramps when AF is imminent but the twingy ones.

Hold out, don't test too early. And don't let these pom pom waving early testers cajole you into testing before you're ready Wink

MotherOfCleo · 31/01/2013 10:34

Stand down guys AF got me. Sad

How can I have a crazy metallic taste and excess salivation for 2 days at 9/10dpo really unusual cramps all month and then not be upduffed......a serious wtf cycle. Sad

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 31/01/2013 14:32

Hello all - not much to report, 14dpo, 2 days until AF due, had some light brown spotting, but a weird cycle - have been farting non-stop and burping like nothing else, but REFUSE to get hopes up, as am sure AF will be along presently...
Sorry to hear of those who were hopeful and got BFNs/ERTD. Feb is V-day month, so surely that makes the cape super-shiny/sticky (ewwwww), right?

Rockchick1984 · 31/01/2013 15:13

Sorry Cleo Sad Is it possible you had a chemical pregnancy? I don't know a lot about them but like you say, it's a bit weird to have all those symptoms then nothing! Other than that, I had a list of symptoms as long as my arm one of my early months of trying but turns out I had a virus so was seeing pregnancy symptoms when it was actually just unwell!!

Nothing much to report here, still full of a cold so trying to hibernate - not so easy to do with a toddler getting bored of the same 4 walls!!

MotherOfCleo · 31/01/2013 15:58

I do wonder rock i wondered if the metallic taste was triggered by the egg trying to implant and then the spotting was it not quite making it? May well be fooling myself, I just dont get how I can have 29 years and never have that odd taste....but then have it only for it to mean nothing. Sad

Grrrr, plus I just read on a website that most couples actively trying for a baby will get pregnant within 3 months.....pllleeeeaaase, as if! Angry

Report
MrsBri · 31/01/2013 18:27

Cleo, it really isn't 3 months, it is 6-12. That website is totally wrong.

Sorry ERTD arrived :-(

Report
MrsBri · 31/01/2013 18:29

And...if it really was 3, the turnover round here would be greater too, wouldn't it? So logically, it can't be right!

I know mrs daft huh! I was hoping for a comment box on the website so I could complain lol

Hi All,

Nah - that's definitely wrong Cleo. The NHS website says 84% will get pregnant in their first year and 92% within two years. Although frustrating and annoying, those odds are soooo much better. I hate it when websites display ridiculous stats like that - it puts undue pressure on people who are TTC. Hmph.

Cleo - sorry to hear about ERTD. I have been convinced I have been pregnant on a couple of occasions now and been wrong both times. It's really sad and frustrating when you feel like your body is playing tricks on you. In reality I suppose you or I could have been in the very early stages of pregnancy and it just wasn't right somehow so the body rejects it. I read somewhere that lots of women do get pregnant but there are so many variables needed that often the body expels it before it's had a chance to implant properly. You'll never know for sure though, so it's best to just put it behind you I think. Sad though it is.

Also, you have to remember that in any given cycle two fully functioning people only have that 20-25% chance of conceiving, even if all is working and they do it at the right times. You could see this as depressing and daunting, but on the other hand, it means that we're all still okay, right? And we're just having to work a bit harder for a bit longer to get our BFPs. We still fall in the normal range though. Hope this helps Cleo. Here have some Brew.

I think I am ov'ing soon everyone, so got my cape on and it's flying in the rather strong breeze! I did an opk looked at my CM today and there's a faint line quite a lot of it. Told DH not to drink very much when out with friends tonight so we can get it on when he's back! I'm on EOD but really had to make an effort the other night as I'm back at work and have to leave the house by 7.15!!! Feeling a bit frazzled by today, but now have a bit of time off. Phew!

cleo sorry the ERTD got you Sad

The odds do seem sometimes stacked against us, did any one watch the great sperm race show, (i may have the name wrong) it had people acting out how we conceive it was scary how much everything had to line up absolutely right, before you had a chance of conceiving a baby and even then it wasn't a given thing, and yet we all stand a good as chance as anyone else which kinda makes me happier about the whole thing.

Sorry i rambled Blush
