TTC first baby

Hello all! DH and I are TTC our first baby, I'm 31, he's 32. We've only been trying for a month so it is extremely early days but I'm so excited at the prospect.

DH may have some fertility issues (picked up on a scan) but I was pretty convinced it was going to be a BFP straight away as I had so many symptoms - but that shows how much I know! Blush

Is anyone else TTC their first baby? Please join and keep me company!!

Hi Ladies

I just joined Mumsnet today as TTC and wanted to chat with some like minded people!

Just started the dreaded 2WW (cycle 2 of TTC) and desperately trying not to think about all the early signs - can I taste metal, is that a menstrual type pain, are my boobs sore? Oh its so hard!

I'm 34 and DH is 33 and I recently had some blood tests as I was worried we were getting started too late. My AMH level is 'low fertility' so I'm hoping that a nice healthy egg and some super swimmers have met in the last few days!

Does anyone have an opinion of the type of exercise you should do or should avoid whilst TTC? Just went for a jog and wondered if that was wise?

Look forward to chatting with you all,

NJ x

Congratulations littlemiss!

Welcome nicjayne. I have no idea about exercise, I think as long as you don't suddenly start extreme exercise it's ok. But don't rely on me, I don't currently do much exercise anyway and I'm not planning on starting!

I'm mid-2ww and time is going soooooooooo sllllloooooowwwwllly

Littlemissimpatient · 05/05/2012 17:53

Thank youSmile
Yes I'm sure gentle exercise is fine if u feel light headed or too hot then stop.
I still went horse riding while ttc!

Pinkie29 · 05/05/2012 17:58

Welcome NicJayne Grin

I think moderate exercise is fine even encouraged? I remember doing an advanced spin class once and the instructor was 8 weeks pg and worked her butt off Smile

Can I ask what amh levels are?

Tomorrow is day 14 of my 2ww!

bugoven · 05/05/2012 18:28

Congratulations littlemiss. I really hope all will be fine for you. Shopping is brilliant fun for distraction and you should really treat yourself. I just had a day at Ikea getting lovely things and a little peek at the nursery section for "one day".

Welcome nj. I think any exercise that doesn't risk causing you injury is fine. Don't over do it as strains and injuries will be hard to recover from especially if you end up with morning sickness to contend with at the same time. A friend of mine ran and cycled well into her pregnancy without any issues.

pinkie and persuasion. Good luck for testing and turns out to be worth the wait. My wait is well and truly over for this cycle so back to hoping for next time Smile

NicJayne · 05/05/2012 18:50

Thank you for the welcome ladies! Its so nice to speak to people in the same situation as me - typically of my friends are popping out their babies left, right and centre!

Pinkie AMH is Anti Mullerian Hormone which is one of the hormones that they can measure to determine your fertility. The AMH correlates with the number of follicles in the ovaries. They also measure LH (lutenising hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) both of which are associated with ovulation and ovarian function.

Thanks all for the exercise advice - I'm trying to be good and do a bit! Have cut out alcohol, caffeine etc. as well. How boring am I!!! Will all be worth it :)

Fingers crossed for us all x

winkle2 · 05/05/2012 19:33

Welcome nicjayne!

Pinkie29 · 06/05/2012 11:27

Cheers bug, it's D day an feel like I'm waiting for an unwelcome guest!!

NicJayne is there anything they can do to increase the hormone levels?? One exercise I've bought a bike a few weeks ago but not used it yet, I know this sounds daft but where to go?? I only ever drive or walk somewhere if I need something lol this 'leisurely' cycle is new to me!

NicJayne · 06/05/2012 12:45

Thanks winkle2 :)

pinkie I'm not too sure I'm afraid - my hormone levels were ok, except the AMH which was in the 'low fertility' zone. They re-tested as it was odd that they were different, and it had gone up. They then re-tested again a few months later and it went up again! No real explanation but I'm convinced it was going up as my body was getting rid of being on the pill for 16 years. That was the start of this year. So, I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping to conceive soon!

Good luck to you x

Pinkie29 · 06/05/2012 13:40

Gosh that sounds complicated!

Well I think af almost is here Sad had a bit of pinkie brown discharge when I wiped, boobs are still tender tho which is odd for me. On the plus side I now know I have a 14 day luteal phase just hoping my cycle gets a bit shorter as this is the second 43 day cycle this year!

Happilymarried155 · 06/05/2012 15:23

Oh no pinkie :( its not over until it actually arrives!

Cd20 for me, I feel so tired I could actually go straight to bed now. Don't know why this is, I'm sure it's to early for any kind of symptom (plus I have been guilty of symptom spotting in the past!!) feeling abit anxious about my blood tests on Tuesday but at least I feel like I'm doing something!
Hope everyone is enjoying there Sunday, I'm off to fall asleep on the sofa!! :)

Pinkie29 · 06/05/2012 16:18

Check this out for symptom spotting:

www.countdowntopregnancy.com/early-pregnancy-symptoms/dpo-chart.php?dpo=14

Tells you what to expect each dpo, well been loo again and nothing there hmm! I did have a few drinkies last night so feeling a bit guilty and rough Sad

Pinkie29 · 06/05/2012 16:57

Very odd, just had a shower and noticed a very small freckle size red dot on my breast? Same colour as a strawberry birth mark and slightly raised? Have 2 on my stomach and another on the underside of the other breast? Blatantly I'm going mad!

Christelle2207 · 06/05/2012 18:09

Ooh that is odd. Perhaps a good sign??! Re spotting that could be good news. Mind you the last 3months my cycle has been very mean to me, had very random spotting, then nothing , then AF a few days later. Pretty sure I didn't have that before TTC. possilbly a CP? Either way, still fx for you.

Happilymarried155 · 06/05/2012 19:26

Oh my word pinky that site is really good, in sure I will be checking it everyday tho!

I wonder what those marks could be! How exciting?! When will you test? X

Pinkie29 · 06/05/2012 21:02

I showed dp the marks he was bemused, they don't hurt or itch do will just keep an eye on them, still no af boobs very sore and no further marks - tmi time, I put a finger in to check and just normal discharge? I'm trying to hold out in testing till Friday as I'll be 5 days late based on a 43 day cycle, great site happily married isn't it Smile

Christened I think ttc sends us all loopy, hopefully wasnt a cp for you, think that's why I don't want to test till I'm quite late

Pinkie29 · 07/05/2012 10:55

Think that's me out ladies Sad nasty rusty red visitor just now boo! Still very sore boobs and these odd red marks

32andready · 07/05/2012 11:32

Oh no Pinkie, sorry to hear that Sad

I'm still waiting for anything to happen, had another BFN yesterday and am now on CD37 and 18 DPO Confused Going to wait till Wednesday to see if AF shows up and otherwise test again.

Pinkie29 · 07/05/2012 11:52

Sounds promising will keep em crossed for you Smile

32andready · 07/05/2012 11:59

thanks Pinkie - I'm torn between feeling hopeful and trying not to get my hopes up in case it's nothing considering all the BFNs!

Pinkie29 · 07/05/2012 12:13

Ain't over till its over Smile

I'm now now trying to tell myself it's a big implant bleed I'm having haha, although a cousin of mine was 5 months gone when she found she was pg with her 3rd? Still had regular periods and all... It's official I'm insane!

32andready · 07/05/2012 12:24

ha ha!

I do know someone whose Mum didn't find out she was pregnant with her last daughter until she went into labour - she was in her 40s so thought she had been going through menopause!!!

Pinkie29 · 07/05/2012 12:27

That's crazy!! Imagine waking up to that one morning!

HermioneE · 07/05/2012 19:20

Hi all, can I join? My DH and I are TTC our first... first cycle for us. Yes I'm prompt at joining! Been unable to start TTC for a year as I have been unwell, so about a month ago when I was finally getting better I decided I was 'allowed' to join Mumsnet Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/05/2012 19:53

Hello, please can I join?

Have been hanging around on the 'waiting' thread, as we've been not trying, but not preventing pregnancy either.

Yesterday I mentioned to DP that I thought I was having ovulation symptoms, and he put a pillow under my bum after we had sex, so I guess we should admit we are officially TTC now.
