Had a search for a may BFP thread and couldn't see one (please correct me if there is!) so thought I'd start one..

curiousgeorgie - TTC #2 - Testing April 29th

Anyone with me?

OP posts:

craftygirl - we are on the same days of cycle! I plan to jump DH prob from the middle of next week onwards. Poor lad also works long hours but hey ho ... he is just going to have to find the strength from somewhere!

I did wonder about starting to poas (opk) this afternoon just to be 100% sure I get that surge when it comes. I am a bit neurotic and will be convinced I have had a freako month when I ovulated cd8.

The temp thing has completely passed me by. I just have images of hollywood films where the woman is sat on the bed with her charts all around her. I don't even know WHERE you take the temp.... armpit????? Mouth??? Nethers????

Frankly, the doubled over pain I get when the egg is released is enough for me to know when I OV. Had many a funny look as I whimper out loud in the street when it hits me.

Littlemisssnowshine - I sometimes get a bit of blood the day or two after period finished. But always brown, old blood. And just a tiny bit that I imagine just got stuck in a vaginal wall fold somewhere (TMI sorry!!). I don't imagine you need worry. There is no chance of bladder infection is there? Although if there was blood you would be in pain. Sorry to not be much help.

LittleMissSnowShine · 14/04/2012 21:30

ted - Dunno what you're supposed to be doing re: taking the temp, but i'm using the digital one i bought in boots for DS before he was born and sticking it in my mouth. I d/loaded the ferilityfriend app on my phone and i was recording my temp every day but my results have been all over the place and i'm not very good at remembering to do it before i get out of bed in the mornings so don't think my chart is going to be of any use this month so i've pretty much given up lol

Never had OV pain before, that must be a handy way of knowing when to jump your OH! laughing at mental image of your OHs ted & crafty wanting to snooze on the sofa after a long day at the office while u are waiting to pounce lol similar situation here too

I've had a lot of (sorry TMI) mucus-y action going on today, already starting to look a bit EWCM so I wouldn't be surprised if I OV a bit earlier than Tues, could be Monday maybe so will make sure to DTD again tonight and tomorrow just in case, hav to make sure all bases are covered Wink

ho hum, off to bed early then, it's a hard life!!

CraftyGirly · 14/04/2012 21:57

ted nice to have a 'cycle buddy'! well for this one anyway, I have no idea how long my 'normal' cycles are as I've been on pill for 10 years (stopped feb) so still waiting to settle down and only had one cycle since then.

I used OPKS from straight after stopping pill just out of interest really but I became a bit addicted to the novelty at first, then a bit frustrated that they were always neg, and when I got a positive on CD16 last month it caught me by surprise as I was so used to seeing nothing there and had sort of resigned myself to the fact that it was a waste of time! lol

Will prob start with them this cycle on about tues or weds which will be CD 9 and 10

I find it hard to know if I'm temping properly as well, I often 'wake up' several times to waking up properly, I think my body is used to the anticipation of the alarm going off, so not sure if i'm supposed to do it the very first time I'm aware of looking at the clock (which varies greatly) or the same time every day whether I've been 'sort of' awake previously to that? BTW I take my temp under my tongue lol, I dont really fancy trying to stick it anywhere else when I'm still half asleep Grin

Littlemiss I had light spotting this time after AF, on CD5. AF finished CD3, nothing CD4 then very slight amount of blood CD5 so it's prob just the tail end.

winkle2 · 14/04/2012 23:45

OMG tedmundo I just had a glue of wine with my santagen mum to be tablet!

Hai1988 · 15/04/2012 10:16

Was just trying to work out what a glue of wine was then Grin

winkle2 · 15/04/2012 11:17

Lol I mean glug! Must've been pissed when I wrote it :)

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/04/2012 14:00

glug...hicc!

winkle - was reading up the april bfp thread last night & u guys inspired me to...errr....do the winkle after DTD lol

CD12 for me today, couple more days of DTD and then...waiting....

AF would be due on 2nd May for me but I've decided (for the sake of sanity and ££!) to def not POAS until AF is at least a week late this time so going to change our list to...

wishfulthinking1 · 15/04/2012 21:02

Hi all- can I join in?
We're embarking on our first month of ttc! It's so exciting! I'm currently on cd2- it's the first time I've thought about ovulation and cycles since I did sex ed in school! Ive downloaded the 'period diary' app which suggests I'll ov on April 25th and AF will be due may 12th so I guess I'll test if she doesn't arrive by the 14th or something! It'll be our first baby- I'm 29 and my partner is 38.

I'm taking Folic acid and as I understand it we should dtd from cd10, every other day until cd 20, is that about right? I've been reading about temping/ ov sticks and pre-seed- is this something people do right from the start? Or only if they seem to be taking a while?

Fingers crossed for us all this month- its so exciting!!!

winkle2 · 15/04/2012 23:01

Lol littlemisssnowshine - what have I started?!

Welcome wishfulthinking! I think dtd every 2-3 days throughout your cycle is the best method as you don't know when you ovulate.

I don't temp but have started using the OV sticks. Been using them for the past few months to get to know my cycle. According to them I OV between day 16 and 18. If I don't get my BFP this month I'm going to ditch the sticks now I know whats happening with my body and cycle.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 15/04/2012 23:13

More swi today. Feel like I want to poas again.if my amazon order doesn't arrive tomorrow, I may pick up a cheapie somewhere and test on tues. However, if I have ovulated this weekend then I am actually now on the 2ww and will not need to poas until 30th April! Not sure what to do as I'm not sure what my body is doing this cycle!

CraftyGirly · 15/04/2012 23:27

Welcome wishfulthinking! I am on cycle 2 of TTC and started with ov sticks and temping straight away, partly because I was on pill for 10 yrs without a break and want to know what's 'happening' down there Grin and partly because I'm anal and once I take on a project I like to go the 'whole hog' so to speak Wink the ov sticks are fun to start with Grin the temping is becoming a bit of a PITA but I will persevere with it!

winkle2 · 16/04/2012 09:58

The sticks are annoying when you can't drink or wee for 4 hours beforehand! Which is why I'm thinking of giving them up if I don't get my BFP.

CD15 here so on a rest night - have dtd CD 8, 10, 12, 14 so far!!

curiousgeorgie · 16/04/2012 10:55

Hi Everyone!

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get a bfp this month... I had a problem with my phone and had to have it restored to factory settings so literally don't know what cycle day I'm on (what an appalling memory :p) and have only swi once (saturday just gone) so far...

Without my app i'm totally lost. I can't even remember what day my last period started so can't even start again in a new app...

Had a brief decision not to ttc this month (or for a while actually) so didn't dtd at all... then saw on fb that a friend of mine is pregnant and due the day I would have been had I not miscarried so cried my eyes out and DH said whatever I wanted to do was fine... so.. um.. did :p

No idea if I've totally missed my window, no idea when my 2ww would be... hmmmm...

Hope everyone is well xx

toobreathless · 16/04/2012 11:29

You never know curiousgeorgie , the one cycle you lose track/get hideously drunk/only have SWI once will probably be the month you get the BFP. Sods law & all that!

I will join you being confused though. I had implant out late march & no sign of a period. Just engaging in random sex & seeing what happens. Have heard of people getting pregnant without having period first but think its unlikely. If I did my LMP would be July 2010 before DD was conceived. How weird would that be?

Can someone explain what on earth this mucus thing is about? Have had a google & confused myself further. The egg white thing is that cooked (opaque) or uncooked (clear?) Grin

RightUpMyRue · 16/04/2012 12:13

toobreathless that would be raw eggwhite. If it looks cooked I would get some canesten or take a trip to see the GP Grin If it's slippery wet and lubracative it's good fertile mucous. If it's dry, sticky or creamy it isn't so good.

georgie just DTD every other day, if you can. You'll hit the right time that way whether you know you are or not.

That's my plan next cycle, conceive plus lube and every other day. Still waiting for AF but another BFN this morning so it's only a matter of time before she arrives.

Cejay8 · 16/04/2012 14:05

I'm only on CD7 but this month we've decided to DTD throughout the month rather than focus on mid month etc. This is what we did for DS so hoping it works this month! Wink

Sticklebricksuk · 16/04/2012 14:11

Hi all. I've been on previous buses and planes but skipped April as I seem to have a long cycle and was not due AF in April! I do recognise some names though
I've been off the pill since December and since then have had cycles of 22, 26, 38, and 39. I'd thought 38 was a blip initially, but seeing as the last one was 38 I think that might be normal for me?! So, with that in mind, I'm going to put my POAS date down as 8 May which will be day 39. After taking a relaxed approach for the last few cycles I've decided to be a bit more proactive this time around and ordered a BBT thermometer and a stack of cheap OPKs from Amazon. On CD17 today, and no positive OPK yet but I guess that's not too unexpected given the long cycle. Finding temping ok, not hard to stick to the same time and that, but temps are all over the place. Still, will see how it goes, and if I get the shift to tell me I've OVd. Currently panicking that I don't ovulate, don't know why, guess I'm just a worrier, there's nothing to suggest I don't just two best friends and a sister in law who've fallen pregnant by looking at their OHs while it's taking me and DH longer than I thought it might Another worry is that I don't seem to have CM ?!! But did raise this with my best friend, who said that she'd never noticed any either, so bit calmer about that one. May invest in some Preseed or Conceive Plus if we're not lucky this month and I've got a better idea of my cycle from the temping and that.

Sticklebricksuk TTC#1 - Testing 8 May

Dexidoo · 16/04/2012 14:14

Popped on to see how we are all doing :)

CD16 here of around 28 days
Am feeling massively pessimistic about things at the moment- ex-work colleague who I haven't seen in a while and she is pregnant- 1st cycle off the pill... very happy for her but also Envy
My original test date of May 1 is when I am 7 days late, seems like forever away

RIBS · 16/04/2012 16:21

Updating you stickle

curious, Dexi and stickle I know how you feel. My best friend has just become pg after trying for 1 month. Im soooo happy for her, but I do feel very Envy.

Ive got just over another 2 months before what would of been my due date and im getting really disheartened that its not working for me. Im 38 in a couple of months too. Everyday the ticking is getting louder!

I dont actually think the clomid is working. My 1st cycle using it had a 38 day cycle. My average cycle (lots of cycling going on here!!) before getting pregnant last year was about 5 -8 weeks. I thought clomid was supposed to sort you out so that you were 28 days. If its the same as last month DP will be away so I might as well just not bother. Buit I will obviously. I will have to have said pregnant friend have a go at me with the old turkey baster! (she would too, bless her little pregnant socks!!)

winkle2 · 16/04/2012 18:44

Georgie - sometimes not knowing is best as you can take the more relaxed approach. I agree with dtd every other day... Good luck!

Cracking up here re cooked egg white!!

winkle2 · 16/04/2012 18:48

I've got some of that conceive plus Rue - you have to stick it right up your rue-rue 15 mins before dtd! romantic NOT!!

RightUpMyRue · 16/04/2012 19:58

Romance died after about 6 months of trying, the bitter disappointment killed it off. We're heading up to 14 cycles now, romance is a very distant memory...

winkle2 · 17/04/2012 09:22

Aw Rue I hope it's your time soon :)

I'm still at the stage where I'm enjoying all the sex with hubby, it's definitely brought us closer together and improved our sex life - sometimes we could go for months without dtd! This is forcing us to do it (but in a good way!)

Hai1988 · 17/04/2012 12:10

Same here winkle

Cd11 here, due to ovulate on cd16 so dtd etd till cd 19 to be sure.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/04/2012 13:34

hello everyone! and welcome to new ladies joining :)

well, this month is my first go at figuring out cycles and stuff too wishful, so can't really offer much in-put into it, except probably buy a proper thermometer, remember to take your temp before u get up and enter your temp into your app or whatever straight away before u forget... in other words, everything i haven't been doing lol!!

agree with winkle, just dtd as much as possible, can't hurt, right? thats how DS came along and we weren't really expecting that because of my PCOS and weirdy cycles. and agnus castus, i think that sort of helped things along the last time so i'm dosing myself with those disgusting drops along with folic acid every day bleurrgghhh much rather have Wine

i had terrible hyperemesis and a generally pretty ropy pregnancy with DS for no apparent reason, but i did read somewhere that the pre-natal vitamins can sometimes help if ur taking them for 3 months before u get preg, which i wasn't doing the last time, so i've been taking them since Feb so i've got 2 months of pills and drops rolling round in me and hopefully they'll do some good.

nothing new to report, if my cycle was being regular then today would be OV day. haven't been charting temps but CM isn't really EWCM today, getting there...but not quite. so I'm thinking OV might be a day or two away yet, so will keep up DTD for a few days yet Grin
