thanks so much ladies, you are such a great support!
Feeling slightly more positive today, decided to ditch the thermometer and not temp this cycle, as it was adding extra stress. Specially because the situation needs to be so specific in order to temp, having a certain amount of sleep, not getting up etc. I was woken up lots of times by DD1 and the cat and getting stressed I then couldn't temp. So no more stress, just peeing on the CBFM sticks this month... :) of course when I think I will ov, I'm away to a conference for the weekend :( but hey, we'll see how it works out!

Happy birthday Fan xx
Blue good for pma though hard work but good on you. Xx
Razz we started testing 4 weekly at 12 weeks for both Groyp B Strep (high vaginal swabs) & E Coli ( MSU) ad Georgie died from EColi. I took my own swabs & MSU's printed the results for my notes & showed my consultant. I self treated once with a week of penicillin & the next HVS after that was negative but all the others were positive. I know GB Strep Isn t normally treated in pg ..& I didn t need the IV antibiotics as technically " no risk" as was having a section but there was no way I was taking any risks & my consultant was happy with that. I had IV penicillin pre op & Pheb's was on IV Gentamycin before her blood cultures came back negative 2 days later.I know there is a private Group Strep B test you can buy online for about £30 but again that is recommended at 36 weeks which seemed a bit late to me. Again, I know it's as no one treats group B Strep in pg but I'd rather take the antibiotics & worry about them. Good luck xxx

fanjodisfunction · 09/01/2012 09:28

Oh blue I really feel for you. I hope this is the cycle!
I have made a cake for work but several people have been rude about it. Its a sugar and spice cake and it doesn't look pretty but its very tasty, my favourite cake. I wish I could share it with you guys it would prpbably be appreciated more.

I havnt had a chance to catch up with the posts, I will try later.

Love to all

AngelGeorgie · 09/01/2012 09:38

Razzthe 4 weekly testing was part of my care plan we discussed at my follow up appt following Georgie's death.my consultant is fab & wanted to ensure everything was covered. Xxx

Whatevertheweather · 09/01/2012 09:39

Happy birthday Fan Definitely no cake for rude colleagues

blizy · 09/01/2012 11:24

Happy birthday fan, your colleagues defo don't deserve any cake!

Trickle · 09/01/2012 13:33

Happy Birthday Fan!!! Silly people don't deserve homemade cake mmmmmm

Blue - Sounds like a good plan, you could drive yourself mad with all this so easily, hope the lower stress brings more than just sanity ;)

fanjodisfunction · 09/01/2012 14:12

I agree blue maybe try a few months without the testing of temp, relax a bit more enjoy it (I know its so hard) its worth a try.

I had a wobbly moment earlier had to take a walk out the office. I have placed Ophelia collection tin on the counter at work and the refuse guys keep coming in a saying her name really loudly (they dont really know me different department) Ive not really heard her name said by other people before, its nice but also not nice.

Im feeling a little ill myself and Im not sure if they are pg symptoms or that I have another uti. Ive just bought some cranberry juice so Im going to start on that in a moment and hope that if it is a uti then Its over quickly. I feel very hot and I have had sensitive nibbles yesterday and a bit today. But Im trying not to read into it to much just in case its a uti. My stomach feels a bit like it could be a uti. Bloody body!

AugustMoon · 09/01/2012 14:40

Happy birthday Fan :)

spilttheteaagain · 09/01/2012 16:31

Happy birthday fan Smile Spice cake sounds delish, ungrateful buggers. Had to chortle at your sensitive nibbles though in the light of the rude cake receivers! Hope it's not a uti x

ciwi · 09/01/2012 17:01

Blue, good for you taking the relaxed approach. I honestly think it helps lots, fx for you this month x
Fan, happy birthday, hope your symptoms are pg related and not uti, when will you test?
Just a quick post from me as I have major cleaning to do, getting our bedroom plastered tomorrow so need to move all our things into the spare room and clean up! Scan was fine today, estimated weight now 3lb 5oz! He is also head down and back to front so being a good boy :) got the consultant tomorrow to see how things go from here.

spilttheteaagain · 09/01/2012 17:10

Wow 3lb5oz ciwi, that's amazing, and lined up nicely, what a good boy. I used to look up pictures of 30 week, 32 week babies etc when I was that stage and marvel that a baby just like that and that big was inside me Grin

Trickle · 09/01/2012 17:17

Just back from wheelchair services - no powered chair till I can't walk at all, this means once the rickety one I bought dies I won't even be abel to go look out of a window without asking to be moved :(

blizy · 09/01/2012 17:24

Ciwi - fab news! Sounds like you have a little Buddha cooking!

Trickle- sorry about the wheelchair.

Blue- the relaxed approach is the way to go, I have up using ov sticks I never ever got a positive and it was really stressing me.
We just swi very second day until af comes!

CheeseandGherkins · 09/01/2012 17:56

Had my 4d scan today and it was brilliant, some really lovely and amazing photos and she's head down :o She's grown at a higher rate though now and is around the 75% centile weighing about 3lb 10 at the moment already! Fluid levels are on the high side though at 24 so I'll be asking about that. Overall it was a really great experience and I'm glad of the photos and dvd to look back on regardless of outcome :)

Have ctg tomorrow and maybe more bloods so we'll see how things are coming along.

angel thanks for sharing that, definitely sounds like the best option for you both. Your recovery sounds really good too but it's a shame about the aftercare.

razz great news about section date

blue sorry it's af, I do hope that the timing has significance though xx

fan happy birthday, hope you're having a good one :) I love the sound of your cake! I'd definitely be more than happy with some!

ciwi glad your scan went well :o I think my little one is ROA at the moment, so head down but not back to back which she has been up until now and up the wrong way before! Hope tomorrow goes well at the consultant.

trickle that's not good :( are there any charities that could help you out?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 09/01/2012 18:18

Happy Birthday, Fan! We would totally appreciate your cake .

Cheese, your scan sounds great. You and Ciwi are really close in dates, aren't you? 3lb 10 and 3lb 5 are really close measurements. Bean was 2lb 8 last Thursday and I'm 2 weeks behind you two.

Trickle, boo to the horrible wheelchair-witholding people. Sad I hope something else turns up for you.

Blue, so sorry AF turned up. Hope this is her last visit for a long time.

Razz, glad your consultant agreed to the 37 week section.

Had a MW appt this morning - Bean was breech, hb fine, measuring 29 cm at 28 weeks, so everything seems good. 28 week bloods taken too. I got my MatB1 form so I can officially book my mat leave, hurray!

JugglingWithSnowballs · 09/01/2012 20:56

< Runs in, grabs large slice of sugar and spice cake whilst singing Happy Birthday to Fab, hopes there's some left for all, runs off >

JugglingWithSnowballs · 09/01/2012 20:57

Sorry, that's Fabby Fan obviously !

CheeseandGherkins · 09/01/2012 21:12

Too I think ciwi is a day ahead of me? Hope your bloods come back ok. How are you feeling now? Coming up to 30 weeks!

I'm so worried all the time now, it feels like Scarlett again with the fluid levels now too. Been sitting thinking this evening and googling...and obviously worrying. I really cannot imagine bringing a baby home, I can only see it not working out again in my head and that worries me too. I wish it were all over and she was out with us. I'm driving myself mad all the time now thinking all the time and worrying about everything. Every time she's quiet for 5 minutes I start to panic, she's really active mostly which is great but does have her quiet moments.

Finding it increasingly difficult to cope with this. Still been buying lots of baby things, have more or less everything for hospital now and for baby bag in some kind of vain hope that it'll make everything be alright which is stupid.

It's really odd as I think of all of you on here and I'm certain that all will go well for you all with you babies and then I think about me and just assume that it will go wrong.

Bluetinkerbell · 09/01/2012 21:18

Ladies... just some advance warning we will need to think of a new thread name soon! :)

OP posts:
JugglingWithSnowballs · 09/01/2012 21:24

It will be OK Cheese and gherkins
How great will that feel ?
Maybe you could try to imagine it going well ?
Do some positive, creative visualisation ?
Maybe get a counsellor or a friend to help you do that ?
Try to be your own best friend ... you say you can imagine everything going well for others ... can you try to imagine the same for yourself and this pregnancy ?
Lots of love to all x

razzdazz · 09/01/2012 21:44

cheese so pleased you had a lovely 4d scan experience. Can totally relate to your anxiety about things going wrong, guess we all can. I had not been doing too badly until the last few days when the nerves have really started to creep over me. Is it just 7 weeks that you have left now??
ciwi also really chuffed for you as well, hope you get your plan sorted out tomorrow......your little chunkster is growing so well!!
angel thanks for your group b strep talk, my consultant does not seem bothered about it at all Shock. One final question.....if I am still testing positive before my section will my baby have to have antibiotics when born?
too how nice to be thinking about mat leave.......I cant get too excited about mine as it will all be unpaid Sad, miss the smp by ONE WEEK!!
trickle I cant believe that you will not be able to get an electric chair even when pregnant, very cross for you.
fan Happy birthday to you (sings out of tune)........I for one would have scoffed your cake, hope you have had a nice day.

Whatevertheweather · 09/01/2012 22:05

So glad the 4d scan went well today Cheese If I get that far I'm definitely going to have one this time. Never had one before but I realise now how lovely it would be to have had a DVD of Erin alive. I'm sorry you are feeling so anxious, although I'm not surprised. Keep focusing on one day at a time. She is nearly 4lbs already that's fab. Erin was 4lbs 13ozs at 35 weeks and didn't seem like a teeny tiny preemie. Every day you can keep with this she is getting a little stronger and a little bigger. If you don't think you can manage to get all the way to 37 weeks discuss it with your consultant. They may well up your monitoring or try and help you in other ways. You have done fabulously well to get this far. One day at a time my friend xx

Ciwi yay for your little one all head down and a good weight. Good boy Smile

Fan hope your uti clears up quick. That's no fun on your birthday.

Trickle Angry you can't get a powered chair. I somehow missed your early posts - is it a pregnancy related condition that affects your mobility?

Waves to everyone else. Not much to report here. Katie is going on her first school trip tomorrow and I'm a bag of nerves as it involves walking to the train station, getting on a train to Portsmouth then a boat trip around the harbour Shock I let her go on all the pre school trips without batting an eyelid but this is her first since we lost Erin. I'll be happy at 3.15pm tomorrow I have yet to decide whether I will follow the trip at a respectable distance

ciwi · 09/01/2012 22:09

cheese i think what you are feeling is normal for people in our situation, I find it hard to believe things will be ok and keep wimping out of buying stuff. I suppose I am lucky in that this pregnancy feels very different now as I never got this far with Ciaran. I am not surprised that things that show up similar add to your anxiety. Could you talk to you midwife or consultant about how you feel? They may be able to come up with a plan to help you through the last few weeks. Just try and remember what happened last time is incredibly rare and the chances of it happening again are very, very small x
razz 1 in 3 people carry group b strep but it is very rare for a baby to get the infection, I think that's why docs don't seem too bothered by it. I carry it too and they are not even testing me for it this time, they just assume you still carry it even though you might not. The midwife told me the other day that I would have antibiotics in labour and the baby would be monitored for 24 hours once he is born for signs of infection. He will only have antibiotics if he shows signs of infection but I do want to discuss this with the consultant so I can assess the risk properly. Sometimes I wish I was just ignorant and believed everything doctors told me!
