Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
6. And the presence of symptoms.
7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.

10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Hi everyone

Back from holidays in Ireland. Siblings and parents very excited. I am starting to mental slightly 12 week scan on Monday so trying to stave olit off till then! Nothing pee se has gone wrong just running scenarios through head! I deserve haddocking.

When at home I caught up with best friend there who is pregnant and due end of october same week as my mc. She didn't want to tell me over the phone. I did have a little cry but it is easier having this bean although that my have started the mentaling.

One of my team at work had 12 week scan on friday so she is all happy and excited and she was put forward a week.

Congratulations to all the new comers sorry no name check as on phone.

LAFF - I posted on another thread to you but just noticed you on here - think pregnancy brain is confusing me?!! Anyway just wanted to say with regard to the pessaries - I know a lot of people who have used them vaginally have had problems so I used the "rear entrance" each night just before bed and have to say didn't really have any problems at all. It's not as bad as it sounds - maybe its worth a try? The things we have to do eh? Good luck xx

Hi mattsmama thanks for the advice. I'm on the PROMISE trial and the pack specifically says to take vaginally (profound or not :-) I've decided to use a pantyliner to try and manage the discharge. I could call up and ask if I could take it via the back passage instead, but that is quite an embarrassing phone call to make! I will ask them at my scan in 6 days!

I appreciate everyone's answers as it isn't so easy to ask around about this in RL!

You could maybe drop it into conversation whilst also sidling up to people and asking them whether they've heard of a profound vagina LAF...? Actually if I wasn't pregnant at the moment I was intending to try to find my cervix as it is not something I have looked for before, but maybe that's because am so profound.

Enough of the profound vagina already.... Back to the discharge. Like Mattsmama I know of people who have been more comfortable with the back way. But front wise is working for me ok! I forgot to ask you, are you definitely doing it at night? I had one incidence when I sneezed and felt it almost pop back out but other than that it's been ok

Is anyone else bloated? I really look about 6 months pregnant by the evening at the moment. I don't think the Steroid Starvation (ie am eating every half an hour) and the cake addiction seem to be helping but I definitely have a tummy.

Mattsmama you are a fellow steroid buddy aren't you? How are you getting on now? Hope all is well.

well having been having major freak out times the last few days and so have booked a scan in - they had a space at 12 today so thankfully it only gives me about 2 hours pre-scan stress - eeek. I think it's because the doc was insisting I'm 10 weeks and I think I'm only 9 and so now I just need to know.

freelance i am incredibly bloated, it just progressively swells more and more through the day and by the end have serious tummy action
I have even had to go and buy maternity tights as my normal ones just put too much pressure on it

well I'm back and all was fine - dh tried to tell me I had to stop freaking out but like that's ever going to happen :o

measuring exactly as I should be for 9+1 today so quite confident with my dates which does make me feel a little better. I went to the fetal medicine centre and they were lovely, I even had a bit of a giggle when she was laughing about the size of my bladder squishing my little bean. scan was external so no worries there for me either.

Glad your scan went OK Stitch and what a relief to get it so quickly. :)

My CBD tests arrived from Amazon today so I just went and quickly did one (thought I had managed to avoid POAS today, but no....) and it confirmed 'pregnant'. Weirdly it put me at 3+ weeks rather than 1-2 or 2-3 as I was expecting having only ovulated 2 and a half weeks ago.

Still I don't care. presumably I can't have too much HCG?

freelance I have to take the pessaries twice a day, 2 in the AM and 2 at night. I don't know if I have cyclogest or the placebo. Sometimes I am superbloated. I popped out of my shorts a couple days ago. I don't seem to be too bad today, but I am wearing Spanx so no one will guess that anything is up!

LAF I can't wear my spanx anymore as it hurts too much by the end of the day!

Stitch that is great news about the scan! You must be so relieved. Biscuits that is also really good about the test. If I had some in the house I would be using them too. Ah, I didn't realise you were taking double the pessaries I am. I only pop a 400mg in at night and it's ok. I have noticed it's a bit creamy (TMI!) and slightly stronger smelling than normal.

Spanx? I would be choked! Luckily I have a few size 12 dresses hanging around as my tens are starting to get tighter on the tummy.

Love the "profound vagina" remark! Oh the mental images!...I was told during labour with DD when my MW was trying to break my waters that "You're very strong in there; your husband is lucky!"....

Not "feeling" strong movements anymore! It's very unnerving because I can hear the hb and strong movements with the doppler. I may have an anterior placenta I think. I'm also feeling so HOT all the time, and getting out of breath just standing cooking or doing the washing up. I am not complaining and I love every twitch and niggle and horrible pregnancy symptom at the moment!!
I'm also going to London for the first time since my bump protruded next week and the ultimate test of how big it is, will be if someone offers me a seat on the tube! I can't wait to test it out!

OK, I do belong on this thread now. I had a mental moment last night/this morning. I decided I had to POAS again. My guise was that I was cleaning out the bathroom drawer and the CBD stick and packaging was in the way. I ought to get rid of it to make space for the panty liners....Who was I kidding? I totally freaked out that maybe my HCG levels haven't gone up enough and I'd still be showing 1-2 weeks pg. I tossed and turned all night about my dilemma. If I knew that was the case, I'd wait for the pg to end. Did I want to know that? Should I know that? Should I just be happy that I'm pg? Of course, OMW wrestled control away from sane LAF and tapped me on the shoulder and said, take the test again. It did tell me I'm 3+ weeks. I could have cried tears of relief. I'm 5+4 today. My scan is in 4 sleeps when I'm 6+2. One day at a time, driving myself crazy.

I totally understand still poas Laff - I'm not far behind you at 5+2 ish and it is a really daunting time isn't it? I don't feel like I should be described as a pregnant person rather just someone with some bfps!

Have you worked out your '5+4' just based on your LMP date? Just curious....

Yes biscuits I am looking at my dates from LMP. If my baby bean is nearly 3mm at the scan with a hb, I'll be happy. I've never had a scan where the sizes are consistent with my dates. Maybe 4th time is the charm.

Good luck with the scan LAF - hope you can find yourself something to occupy yourself for the next 3 or 4 days and that they don't drag toooooooo much.

May I ask at what stage you can have an early scan? And how do you go about booking one? Thanks x

biscuits it depends on how your EPU works, some need a referral from your GP and some you can just go along yourself and they will scan you, my last pg they scanned just because I was a bit anxious (no pain or bleeding). That was at St Georges in Tooting at just over 6 weeks.

Otherwise you can have one done privately and there are lots of places that do them - where I went yesterday they will do early scans from 7 weeks and I just rang up and the booked me in right away.

I had a mc first pg and the EPU then said I could go back if pg again and they would scam but I think at the time they said any time after 8 weeks but then it would be instead of your 12 week scan. When I was pg again (with DS) my 12 week scan wasn't going to be until 15 weeks so the epu scanned me that time. We've moved house now though so will be under a diff hospital.

Would the epu pick you up even before you've done booking in with the midwife? Oh, no you said GP might need to refer you.

Oh I am rambling rambling rambling!!! Just need to get through the next few longest weeks of my life.

Biscuits We got an early scan, spoke direct to EPU who just asked for GP referral which she was happy to do - I had one at 7 weeks because I had an ectopic last year and the scan was just to check everything was in the right place.

LAF I'm with you on the POAS, I used about 3 a week for the first month!! It seems very few people are consistent with dates at the early scan, I was put back a full week, but at 12 week scan jumped up 5 days again.

Milky I know what you mean about feeling hot, DH is complaining because I have to have the bedroom window open all night at the moment just to keep cool.

Freelance I bloat up too, especially in the evening, I can't finish my dinner without undoing buttons

I need to concentrate on something else and stop fretting about early scans and stuff. I've just booked m,y booking in appointment for 3 weeks time (seems early to be booking it but am away next week and don't want to have to wait ages for one if i leave it too late, and I know they won't obviously get my paperwork going until i;m booked in and don't want to have to have my 12 week scan late)

Enjoy HP Lily - you might need to take your own toasted teacakes though - they're not normally on offer at the popcorn stand thing :)

i used about 4 CBD, 8 FR and numerous cheapies in the first couple of weeks but then I do have a serious POAS addiction. I actually have a nice photo of 4 FR tests lined up to show the increasingly darker line that I can go back and look at if I need to feed my addiction. I'm quite confident with my dates as I used OPKs so know Iwhen i OV'd.

lots of ligament stretching today but not stressing too much as scan yesterday was good so have no reason to think anything will go wrong (jumps back into happy zen bubble until 12 week scan)

I went to EPU before any booking in, at my hospital they seem quite unrelated so they don't not give you a scan at 12 weeks because you have had an early one?

Not really much else to report here I am bloating for England at the moment. Trying to keep myself occupied till Monday. I have friend's picnic on Sunday so will be trying to be inconspicuous in nnot drinking at it as although I have reached the mystical 12 weeks don't want to jinx anything before the scan.
