Hi cheeky

the monitor doesnt guarantee you will get pregnant, just maximises your chances or conceiving by making sure you do it at the right time! i got pregnant both months i used it; however, i already knew i got pregnant easily (i got pregnant first month we tried but it was a T21 pregnancy and we chose to terminate); the reason I was using the monitor was because the termination messed up my cycles and i had no idea when i was ovulating and very little inclination to have sex....(the romance of babymaking...). i got pregnant in november using monitor, but had a MC 4 days after BFP (so hardly counts as real MC), then got preg again in Dec, which has stuck (still terrified of what might go wrong).

has your OH been tested? if you have been trying for 3 years its unusual that you havent fallen pregnant yet and as well as the monitor you should definitely be pursuing fertility tests. have you been referred to a specialist? im sure after that length of trying you should be entitled to a referral. make sure you hound your GP for it!

keziah So sorry to hear you've had more bad news and hope your mum is feeling a bit better. What a shock. You are way overdue some very good news and good luck.

cheeky I've had 3 BFPs from the CBFM in the last two years and I am OLD. Sadly, first two (which happened very quickly) failed. But I swear by it. The CBFM takes a cycle or two to learn your body's rhythms, but after that you should only be poas maybe 10 days every month. Have you considered charting as well?

Congrats molly - the thread we keep referencing is here Smile Really looking forward to all the other ladies on here moving accross as well!

hubbylove Sorry to hear about the MMC - its an awful experience. My body took a few months to settle back down after my mmc and erpc so it may well be that. But I also think when you're ttc you become so zoned on your cycle that small variations seem very significant. I noticed through all the months that although I thought I ovulated on a specific day, it would be more accurate to say 'around a specific day'. My cycle lengths varied a bit as well, and some cycles were heavy and some so light I wasn't sure if they even counted. Of course, in my head, all these variations were monumental. I think your body is probably settling back down, and I don;t think (but am not an expert) that it necessarily means you can't get another bfp at these times.

Keziahhopes · 04/05/2011 23:08

Hi Cheeky good financial argument for your dh is that it is much cheaper than private fertility treatment and sadly as you already have one child the NHS will not fund any treatment!

The CBFM has not helped me get a bfp but that is because we have learnt there are male factors etc preventing it. NHS IVF failed, off to private treatment, ouch! But CBFM has helped give me my life back - I know when is the right time to conceive, it has taken the stress out of the last 2 years!

hubbylove · 05/05/2011 07:57

Hi

Just an update - went to doctors as concerned about mid cycle bleeding (my advice is do not try and self diagnose on google...) and was advised if it happens again then to come back for a swab... i asked whether they bleeding may have mucked my cycle up as the CBFM hasnt shown high fertility let alone peak and he said he didnt know how it worked... ? i said ok taking the monitor away, any reason why i havent ov yet, could be due to the bleed? he said LISTEN i dont know how it works. Went away feeling rather embarassed and pleadged to only ever see my own doctor and not a locum who has no paitent interest, even when speaking about my mmc (which takes me a lot to have to do still) he looked very bored.

so i am obviously non the wiser! day 17 and not even a high yet... grrrrr

Chocciechip - i think you are right, im back to noticing everything like i was when we first ttc... sympton spotting like a hawk and worried about everything... need to chill out and get a grip! bit worrying when something happens that has never before occured.... im sorry you suffered a mmc too, losing is bad enough let alone not knowing about it until the scan... am terrified of the thought of having that scan now... that beauitful experince tainted.

ANYWAY on a happier note congrats to the people with BFP's! i got mine the first time after 2 months with the CBFM....

hubby what an insensitive bas*%rd! Some people really shouldn't work in the medical profession. You should complain about him.

Hey gals,

I've been lurking for a while to see how you're all getting on and keeping up as best I can- this thing moves so fast!

Am listed on your BFP list as we conceived back in January but suffered a missed miscarriage at 6.6 weeks:((. SO, after several weeks dusting myself down I'm waiting for AF so we can start all over again. I've only managed to get up to date with the first few pages of this thread but ElmMum your initial post could have been me, feel really lucky to have DD but she keeps asking if we can 'get a baby' and I just feel like with every month my odds are getting shorter.

Got preg first month with CBFM last time so am really hoping it works again as quickly but its whether it sticks I suppose.

boba82 · 05/05/2011 17:21

clockspotter I'm so sorry to hear that Sad Best of luck this month. x

Hi all - sadly have started having an early miscarriage today :( was really miserable this morning, but am trying to be philosophical about it and tell myself it was only our second month trying (and only 1st month with CBFM). I have a job interview tomorrow, though, which I could really do without :(

StormBird · 05/05/2011 19:43

Oh Molly I am so sorry to hear that! I hope you have really good support in RL. BIG HUGS to you............

XXXXXXXX

Keziahhopes · 05/05/2011 22:01

clock so sorry to hear that.

Molly so sorry of your early loss too, and tomorrow's bad timing. Hope all goes ok for you. Your philosophy is good - you can conceive, it didnt' take long - but it doesn't take this loss away (((((hugs)))

well today is day 2 of new cycle for me. Will do stats another day - too tired today.

chocciechip · 06/05/2011 09:13

So sorry molly. x

Hello

This is my first ever post so please forgive me if I don't use the correct abbreviations and acronyms. I'm new to charting and fertility monitoring too and I was wondeirng if one of you would be able to give me some advice. My husband and I are ttc for the fisrt time but have been unsuccessful for several cycles now due to PCOS (which I alreday knew I had before ttc).

I've just purchased a clear blue fertility monitor and plan to use it when AF arrives (unless I get lucky and find a bfb when I do my next test!) but I have a question - it says in the insturictions to use it on the fisrt day of your period and I wanted to know if spotting counts as the first day or is that when you start bleeding properly? I know this probably sounds really silly to you experienced charters but I honestly don't know where to start.

Thanks so much for your help.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 06/05/2011 16:09

Hi Daffodil - day one should be your first full day of bleeding. But if you were to set day one as your first day of spotting, just make sure you do so every month so the data collected is accurate, or the machine will ask you to use a stick too early or late in following months.

Molly and Clockspotter, so sorry to hear your news

StormBird · 06/05/2011 17:31

Clockspotter sorry hun, I missed your post yesterday. I'm very sorry to hear your sad news.

xxxxx

fr00tbat · 06/05/2011 19:30

Sorry to hear clock and molly, x
Advice from the floor (once again)! Ovulated D18, normal LP 11 days.
BBS really painful from 5DPO
Temperature dip 7DPO
Spotting 8DPO-9DPO
Feel rough - just like the witch coming to visit - but still have 3 days to go - this hasn't happened to me before. DOes anyone else have a luteal phase which has changed?? Am pretty sure am not PG - just very concerned now that LP has shortened and am going to start AF early - it has just added to conception worries.
Am all of a dither this month....I just wish she would stop taunting me and arrive so I can have a bloody drink!

KnackeredCow · 06/05/2011 20:42

Cd 20 today , no high or peak yet.... Usually high from cd9, peak varies but never had lows fertility for this long... Any ideas? I had a week of brown bleed a week after af... could that have mucked up cycle???

Molly - hope you ok x

Ilovekittyelise · 08/05/2011 13:50

clock sorry to hear about your MMC. if it's any consolation i had an early MC (like 3 days after the BFP) the first month of the monitor, conceived again 20 days later (again thanks to CBFM!) and now 5 months along and hoping everything continues to go smoothly (as you already know from having a daughter the fear doesnt get any better!)

fr00tbat WHOOP WHOOP (said quietly and cautiously LOL!).....a lines a line, let us know when you next test (ok you posted at 7am and its now 2pm, you could have got through 10 by now)....treat yourself to a clearblue digital...its wonderful to see it in writing xxx

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 08/05/2011 14:06

fr00tbat congratulations!

hubby I had a cycle with just lows, think my hormone levels were just low that month and cbfm couldn't work me out, it went on the next cycle to give me my first peak at the 'normal' 14 day mark - I'm sure it'll just be a blip.

Cycle-wise for me I am 7dpo and have the most painful boobs ever, but putting this down to needing a new running bra at the moment - trying not to symptom spot but have also had mild cramping (putting down to doing the running) and have been quite hot flushed (putting this down to the weather!). Have never been pg before so have no terms of reference for my body - everything I have felt the past fews days could be a sign of pg according to lord google! Grin

Fingers crossed for everyone x
