Thanks all for the congrats. All feels a bit surreal. Last time I had felt ill for weeks before I tested, but tested about 3 weeks later than this. So waiting for nausea to set in. SBC Oh how I get the [henvy] thing!

jazzy it's so frustrating, all this slightly conflicting information. This month I did CBFM, temping and i/c OPK. All gave different info. We kept SWI until everything suggested I had actually ovulated.

nearly you only need to POAS when the machine asks you to. Nighttime wees seem to make no difference. Day 1 is the morning after AF arrives, as you say. I found it useful to make a note of what readings the machine gave me each day, and what days it asked me to POAS. I think on cycle 1 it asks on days 6-26, after that it should ask for 10 sticks. Once it has recorded your first peak (3 bars and an egg) I think it is automatically programmed to give you a 2nd peak day followed by all lows (1 bar) till AF next comes. So you can save money by not using any more sticks after you get your first peak. Sticks are way cheaper on Amazon than in the chemists. I have an unopened box if you want them I'll post them if you paypal £14 which is what they cost me.

iloveberries · 26/10/2011 12:45

hi folks, mind if i join this thread too?

I am TTC #2 and after an early mc/chemical preg and then nothing for a few months i have got myself a monitor for use this month as sex every other day (or more) for the month was getting really tiring for us and a bit like a chore so it's all new to me!

I'd appreciate any advice you pros have!

Thanks x

GarrottingItLaldy · 28/10/2011 15:46

Hi

Sorry to crash your thread but you lot are, by all accounts, the CBFM experts so would appreciate your thoughts on this scenario.

Used CBFM as per instructions for 3 cycles. I have relatively short cycles at 24/25 days. Each cycle, it requested approx 20 test sticks, about 18 of which showed 'high' readings. Low readings only showed for a day or so either side of my period. I've never once had a peak.

Any ideas why it didn't detect peaks? I know for sure that I ovulated.

MrsHocusPocus · 30/10/2011 19:22

Hello - can I join please? We have been TTC #2 since December last year and have been lent a CBFM by my SIL. AF due next weekend so will start then, think I understand what to do (e.g. follow the instructions on the machine) but am less clear as to how to use that information to help at the right times...

Keziahhopes · 31/10/2011 10:15

Garrotting - that sounds quite unusual, so I think I would phone the CBFM helpline and ask the company about it. The first month it uses all 20 sticks to get to know your cycle, but after that - especially with shorter cycles - it should ask for no more than 10. A typical month would start with low, progress to high (I had 27-9 day cycles) which can vary how long, then a peak, then down to high/low. I always stopped testing after first peak. On a 29 day cycle I tended to have about 9 low days then highs varied from 2 upwards to about 5/6.

MrsHocusPocus - I found CB machine took out stress of feeling need to have SWI all the time, so for us what we found worked was at first high SWI every other day (some manage every day but hospital told us not to as male fertility issues so better every other day at most) until got to first peak then stopped (some stop after 2nd peak). Some conceive on highs even if machine not show a peak - as sperm can survive etc etc.... First month it will need all 20 sticks, after that 10 a month (as no need to use sticks after peak!) if all ok. So at £14 a box from Amazon it worked out quite reasonably we thought (especially as IVF not work for us and we were saving for private cycle!!)

We found male and female fertility vitamins worthwhile - in fact IVF clinic recommended we both take them 3 months before IVF cycle (before then only I took them).

MrsHocusPocus · 31/10/2011 21:13

Thank you! We gave got the his and hers pregnacare tablets so that is good to hear! Right will await AF to get testing!

nearlymumofone · 01/11/2011 07:00

Hello.

Today was the first day (6) where I had to test as is my first cycle using CBFM. The result was High. Is that usual on the first cycle of using this? How can it detect that my fertiltiy is high without any other tests to compare it to (if that makes sense).

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick about it all!

I think on the month i conceived ds we only dtd on days 6 and 9 of the month. However since ttc #2 i've only started SWI from days 10-18 of the month. Maybe I should have been SWI earlier on?

Thanks for any advice

Keziahhopes · 01/11/2011 19:51

nearlymumofone - it may be it is a high day at day 6, we are all different - so worth seeing when your peak is... if it was me I would SWI!!

nearlymumofone · 01/11/2011 19:53

Thanks Keziah, we are gonna get on it tonight (even though I have awful headache and really don't fancy it!!! Grin

crystaltea36 · 02/11/2011 11:21

Hi everyone, I've newly bought a CBFM and have been using it for 7 days now. My cycle is about 25 days and I'm not sure when I ov but the CBFM says low at the moment, but wouldn't I be ov about day 12 on a 25 day cycle so shouldn't it be starting to read high to give you 5 days warning? I don't really understand it all! Someone said that you don't often get a peak on your first cycle, so how will I know when I'm ov? Sorry for silly questions! Thanks :-)

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 02/11/2011 11:33

Crystal the first month the machine doesn't know how long your normal cycle is so may not give you a peak early on as it is getting to know the readings for you. Have you monitored your cycle any other way before to know roughly when you ov?

crystaltea36 · 02/11/2011 12:38

Hi I tried the calendar method and that's all, I noticed the EWCM before but wasn't sure whether this was before or on or after the day of ovulation! I assumed it was always 14 days before your next period? Thanks

nearlymumofone · 04/11/2011 09:09

Hello- I need some advice please?

I'm on day 9 of my first CBFM cycle. Last night I went to turn it on before bed just to have a look at it (I don't have a clue why I did this). Anyway, it wouldn't turn on. There was never any sign of batteries low or anything like that previously. But I took the batteries out and fully recharged them over night. I then put them in (about 3am) and tried to turn it on- it wouldn't work. So I went back to sleep. I woke up and tried to turn it on, it came on and showed as day 8, but didn't show that it needed a test (I should be day 9 now and my testing window is 3.30-9.30am).

Is there a fault with a monitor do you think? Is this usual? I've pee'd into a cup and am going to keep trying to see when it says to do the day 9 test, if that makes sense.

Any ideas? Thought I'd ask you experienced guys before I phone up the help line.

Many thanks and sorry for the long rambly post.

sprinkles77 · 04/11/2011 13:45

nearly I'm not sure. It does sound a bit odd, but I have never removed the batteries before. Hopefully someone will be along in a moment to help. Have you looked at the CBFM website? It might have some info for you.

crystal this "14 days between ovulation and AF" is an average. You can look up the stats yourself on google, but IIRC you are most likely to conceive if this is 11-15 days. This is called the "luteal phase" (LP). Where you have a LP of less than 11 days or much more than 15 then it can make it harder to get pregnant. Interestingly I read that each woman's LP is pretty consistent, it is the first part of the cycle that varies in length.

jazzy283 · 04/11/2011 18:35

hey ladies hope you are all well just though id pop in to say hello and let you all know My BFP was confirmed this afternoon and i wanted to thank all you ladies for my CBFM support.

Hoping you all get your BFP very very soon xxx

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/11/2011 21:07

Congratulations jazzy! You don't know me at all, I only joined a few posts back, but it is lovely to hear and makes me feel positive about the CBFM that I am about to start with...

sprinkles77 · 05/11/2011 15:35

Hi Jazzy, that's wonderful news. I just read back to your post of October 24th and mine October 13th, Isn't it weird? Us both getting BFP in cycles where CBFM and OPK and charting all gave conflicting information! Vindicates us all in the obsessive watch for ovulation, and not giving up too soon.

jazzy283 · 05/11/2011 15:43

sprinkles i know i really thought i was out to as i had brown spotting for 3 days and i assumed that it was the start of AF but nope she never came congrats again to you we will have to keep each other going through our uneventful pregnancies xx

boba82 · 06/11/2011 17:04

Congratulations jazzy and sprinkles! Feel free to join us here along with other CBFM support group graduates. It's helped a few of us through. x

Congratualtions jazzy fab news, am starting to feel i might be the only one left on this forum..... Have not been tempting this month as wanted to chill out a bit but seem to have yet another faulty batch of cbfm sticks in that the dye on them just sort of runs and doesn't show lines - anyone else had this? I am now CD17 and worried it won't pick up a peak (having been high since day 9 - AGAIN) am losing faith in CBFM so will use cb ovulation sticks this month instead - off to the dr next week to have basic tests done as acupuncturist is concerned that I have endless high days before a peak every month Angry. oh and my "due date" from my m/c in March was last week so all in all not feeling v positive -

Sorry for rant!

HettyTurner · 07/11/2011 21:30

Hello! Just started using my CBFM, and wondered if anyone else has tried using it with PCOS? I know it says not to, but I've been taking met and been oving so I was hoping it would show it.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 07/11/2011 22:08

Hiya, I have pcos and it detects my peak. I have ridiculous cycles as well...I'm on cd 60 just now. Previous was over 100days!! Good luck!

Ps loup you arent the only one left I just dont have much to say!

boba82 · 08/11/2011 06:53
