So near, yet so far! Holiday villa for those waiting TTC#1 having suffered mc

MamaPower · 09/09/2010 18:02

Hi all,

I need to take a holiday with some lovely peeps in the same position; I'm TTC#1 but had 2 mc's this year and now discovered my luteal phase is only 9 days (anything under 10 considered a defect) and probably the reason that I cannot retain a pregnancy.

If you have yet to be blessed with motherhood because mc has cruelly taken away your chance so far, then this is the place to retreat for some R & R whilst your body recovers.

Pull up a sun lounger, and lie back for some lighthearted banter and support whilst monitoring cycles or undergoing investigation and wash down the Vit B6, Agnus Castus, Progesterone and Clomid with a lovely vodka glass of sparkling spring water!!

thanks dachs can you also please slap me with a fish. I have committed the sin of ordering some ultra earlies off the internet. Promised DP I would not be doing this -have already hidden all the opks. Will have to be strong and try not to test early.

Thanks for sorting out the disco I am really enjoying the cheesy dancing and singing along.

MamaPower · 19/09/2010 23:07

ooooh is that the sounds of club tropicana I can hear?? gotta love the 80's!! Must confess was listening to the best of wham on my I-pod earlier, must dig out culture club too Grin That brings back some very very funny memories!

All this expensive South East house talk is concerning, we plan to move down there early next year and I had dreamt of buying something bigger than a Rabbit Hutch!!

Dachs glad you finally got some warmth, much needed it's turned pretty chilly!

Kat it's normal hon, I had to leg it out of a shop in the middle of Canary Wharf cause two women were chatting about their pg friend, and mama's and papa's was a spectacular crash and burn moment. All, I can say is, it gets easier, I promise Smile

Velvet once my body is sorted think I will have to take on your method of chilling out about ttc! I will actually delight in throwing away OPK and temping charts, it'll almost be a relief to just have fun without the SWI pressure!

Night all, have a good week xx

PS Wakari if you're lurking hope all is well x

Ah, house prices...I grew up in south Bucks, and my parents and a lot of my friends still live there, and the house prices are a bit terrifying. Still, my SIL lives in central London, and she has just paid exactly twice our house budget for a 2 bed flat (we are buying a 4 bed house with large garden). There's something to be said for rural with poor travel links :) The schools in S Bucks are good though, on the upside...

Wombat33 · 20/09/2010 10:50

I confess that the schools and 'family friendly' atmosphere are some of the main reasons we're trying to buy there, despite the current absence of DCs Blush. It's, ahem, forward planning...

On that note - smiley face on the OPK here this morning. SWI begins in earnest!

MamaPower · 20/09/2010 19:57

Evening my little 80's dancers!!
Just to say DH fully redeemed...got home to a massive bouquet of flowers with a lovely little note. Ah, love is in the air Smile

Wombat, happy SWI may it bring a BFP to this fred Grin

PS Owl you might sleep with your mouth open...I just don't sleep, been an insomniac for years...didn't realise this may affect temping!! Not looking good so far!

Velvetcu · 20/09/2010 22:37

Whoop whoop I'm loving the 80s vibe :)

I have to confess I'm OPKing this month just to make sure it is happening and fits in with the dates I'm expecting. And Kat - I have hidden mine too!!

As for SE rabbit-hutches, I live in Medway in Kent which is a really crappy place except for some little pockets. I live in one of them and I have a pretty decent sized house for what is reasonable for down here.

Am starting to plan my 30th birthday but having trouble finding a hall! I left it too late coz I wasnt gonna bother but have decided to try and stop feeling sorry for myself and get on with it.

kat2504 · 20/09/2010 22:48

velvet when is your birthday - hope you manage to arrange something really nice to celebrate. Even if you cant get a hall you could always go for a top night out somewhere.

Have indulged my poas addiction with an opk. Whyyy?? At least it wasn't a preg test. I was expecting a negative opk, I just wanted to indulge my need to dip sticks into a cup. But I got a positive. wtf??! I'm sure the result i had six days ago was positive enough. Feeling a bit annoyed that despite my best efforts have missed chance this month. Grrrrrr. Really must stop all this science nonsense until I have had three months of regular cycles.

Enjoying the disco, wearing my ra-ra skirt and singing along to Tiffany and Kylie. No drinks from me tonight I am trying to be good! Sending tropical fruits to snack on, served by dishy waiters...

owlshoes · 21/09/2010 14:50

Oh man. The insanity switch has been flicked. Woke up this morning with weird twingy feeling in lower middle. I am always dead good during 2WW until I get the first 'oooo is this a symptom?' and then I immediately go bat-shit mental.

Gahhhhhhh.

Pliz bury me in pile of feesh.

Fabulous leg-warmers, btw, nicks Grin

Kat tis normal to expect all manner of post-MC barking mad OPK results - hormones are annoyingly unpredictable things. On the other hand you might just have been gearing up for ovulation then your body decided to hang on and wait 6 days then give it another bash - stranger things have happened!

I had the worst shoes ever in the 80s - this is cos of the giant hands and giant feet problem. They were size 8 white leather sandals which I remember wearing with black tights when I was about 13. Dear god. No wonder I never had a boyfriend.

MamaPower · 21/09/2010 18:53

Owl I refuse to fish you, symptom spotting is fine...but if you start POAS then I'll find the biggest bugger I can to slap you with!! Grin Grin I was also the size 8 varietal but I'm also a tall bean and I am guessing you are too, every cloud Wink

Velvet when's the big 30?

hello people. feeling a bit miserable this evening - like it's never ever going to happen. Even madly symptom spotting I've got nothing. At all. Convinced this month's treatment has failed, and am reaching the milestone of 35 in two months and the closer it gets to that date the more depressed I'm feeling about ever being a mum.

I know it's daft, but I'm feeling like sobbing about the futility of all of it again, and I thought I was over that ages ago. Just feeling really really low.

Sorry to moan

Wombat33 · 21/09/2010 20:27

Oh Dachs. Don't give up hope. You wouldn't necessarily (or even probably) have symptoms yet even if it has worked!!

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 20:41
MamaPower · 21/09/2010 20:44

Dachs oh hon, don't be sorry for moaning that's what we're here for. Crap, I have written and re-written my response to you 3 times already, so in case this final version comes out all wrong, again, I am just trying to convey understanding but with a shed load of positivity, particularly because I know that you are already facing a battle with having to have IUI.
I am also rapidly approaching 35 (March) and it does worry me but at the end of the day until we know for a certain fact that our body's are over trying to be mum's then we just do what we can to try to make it happen and hope for the best. Also, woman have healthy happy pregnancy's and babies into their late 30's and early 40's, it's not a cut off, just a guide!
It must be hard going through IUI, we just have to accept a little help on the way...hell, I predict I'll be shoving progesterone pessary's up myself shortly Blush...whatever it takes!
You can and will find the strength to keep on trying because you really want it, don't lose hope hon, there's always hope and miracle's.
On a practical note, will you be able to have further IUI? Also, is there any reason why IVF wouldn't be an option?
Lots of hugs and love xx

Dachs lovely, there are a bunch of us about to hit the big 35 and I am absolutely adamant that we shall hit it with style and BFPs all round, oh yes. I know you're feeling shite about this and it is shite, and you've been through enough already without having to worry about age too.

BUT. Turning 35 does not mean that our ovaries instantly shrivel and our follicles crumble to dust despite what the newspapers like to tell us. Shedloads of women have babies in their mid/late thirties and forties and we will be among them.

Also, 'tis far too early for symptoms. Do not lose hope. I got no symptoms whatsoever until I was well overdue last time around. You might be the same.

MamaP Thankfully there are no sticks in the house and it's staying that way. And no, I am not tall. Damnit.

Nicks fab boots Grin

Velvetcu · 21/09/2010 21:32

30 in November and it's our 10yr wedding anniversary too!

I had size 8 white sandels too but not til around 91 i dont think.

Keep positive Dachs - we all know its too early for symptoms and that stress doesnt do it any good either. I know how you feel about the age thing - I keep getting told I need to hurry up and have kids and thats by my 15yr old students!

owlshoes · 22/09/2010 09:40

Hoorah for all the people with massive feet!

MamaPower · 22/09/2010 09:42

Owl...that made me laugh so much ya nutter!

OP posts:
owlshoes · 22/09/2010 10:50

Also, check out my comedy symptoms:

  1. Too much saliva
  2. Twitchy eye
  3. Random aches
  4. Felt sicky this morning
  5. Cried at Stevie Wonder song in the car

Of course none of these are to do with hideous amount of swimming pool water I swallowed last night whilst trying to Do Exercise.

Or indeed the total lack of sleep due to the aching from the exercise.

Or the slightly vintage paella I ate last night.

Or the fact I am getting PMT as normal.

The twitchy eye and the dribbling is particularly disturbing, especially for my work colleagues.

Velvet big congrats on the 10 year wedding anniversary, that fair warms the cockles, so it does Grin

MamaPower · 22/09/2010 21:56

I see your comedy symptoms and raise them with a sneaky boob prodding this afternoon, knowing fully well that it would have had to have been a bloody immaculate conception as dh away this cycle or a feckin miracle; in my head I was thinking last af was so insignificant maybe it was just a little implantation bleed blah blah blah!! Someone slap me!!

There's been a distinct lack of drinking this week

OP posts:
AuroraLeigh · 23/09/2010 11:35

Group hugs for all. Also a Victoria Sponge with whipped cream (I like to bake). Dachs, I have nothing helpful to say, but am offering you cake and hoping you feel better soon.
Wombat, hope the SWI is fun and productive :)
owlshoes loving the comedy symptoms!
mamap def need more drinking. Mine's a merlot. I'll bring the cake...

Ok, off to OPK now to see if the weekend away (actually Friday - Wednesday) can involve some SWI... Even though I know it's far too early. Sigh.

PS I too have big feet, and will be 35 in December, so I feel I fit the general demographic here!

Wombat33 · 23/09/2010 11:45

Have a fun weekend Aurora and thankks for the lovely cake. Ooh a glass of wine for me too please.

owlshoes · 23/09/2010 14:36

I am fully appreciating the volume of cake and booze this group provides, esp. delightful Vicky sponge mmmmmmmmmm. Grin

I am planning on making a 'Pimp My Snack' sized object over the weekend - if you haven't looked at that website you really must, if only to see the foot long twix. Tis like a vision of heaven on earth (if you are a greedy chocolate-troughing bugger like me).

Hoorah for the more big feet! Okay; so is there anyone in here who is not 35/35 with massive shoes? Wombat33 I'm looking at you here based on your username. Ah and Velvet is a spring chicken too I seem to recall :)

How early is far too early, Aurora? If it's 5 days or less beforehand then surely it's worth a bash.

You will all be disappointed I'm sure to hear that my comedy eye twitch and dribbling have gone. Clearly I am not upduffed this month. Boo. People are no longer avoiding me in the corridors though which is a plus.

Where is Dachs ? I hope her house is still in one piece.
