So near, yet so far! Holiday villa for those waiting TTC#1 having suffered mc

MamaPower · 09/09/2010 18:02

Hi all,

I need to take a holiday with some lovely peeps in the same position; I'm TTC#1 but had 2 mc's this year and now discovered my luteal phase is only 9 days (anything under 10 considered a defect) and probably the reason that I cannot retain a pregnancy.

If you have yet to be blessed with motherhood because mc has cruelly taken away your chance so far, then this is the place to retreat for some R & R whilst your body recovers.

Pull up a sun lounger, and lie back for some lighthearted banter and support whilst monitoring cycles or undergoing investigation and wash down the Vit B6, Agnus Castus, Progesterone and Clomid with a lovely vodka glass of sparkling spring water!!

Owlshoes sorry your comedy symptoms have gone. Here's to next month. One of my friends told me her best "symptom" was green poo...turned out to be the vitamin tablets...
I have never seen the "Pimp my Snack" website before - just had a look at it - it's brill! Am def going to attempt a giant jammy dodger at some point soon!!
Too early is only 13 days after MC started. Am being silly - suppose I ought to wait until I have had at least one period... I am a very impatient person, and for various reasons everything in my life seems to be on hold (trying to sell our house so we can move; waiting for a date for my father to have a triple heart bypass; waiting for my viva so I can finish my PhD...etc)and it's driving me NUTS (hence endless baking for stress relief!)

Wombat33 · 23/09/2010 18:53

Aurora, I am prepared to very selflessly offer myself up for consumption of the products of your stress-relieving baking episodes. Chocolate cake will be devoured over here, anytime you like. But only for your own benefit you understand! Wink Humph, 13 days post MC for testing or for SWI? I'm a bad influence and you shouldn't listen to me, but if it's the latter, we started SWI again 7 days afterwards Blush

Owl I'm 31 and have size 5 1/2 feet, so I fail on both counts. Sorry about that. I've brought more booze though

MamaPower · 23/09/2010 22:29

Thanks Aurora. You have a lot going on at the mo, what's your PhD in? I think life has a way of getting totally nuts all at once... enjoy the stress relieving baking Smile

LH surge this morning so blood tests for LPD next Thursday/friday... never thought I'd be so glad to have a needle stabbed into me!

BTW, I lied when I said I was almost 35... on my 21st birthday the peter pan effect kicked in and i am staying forever young Grin Grin.

Wombat too early for SWI - but will probably follow your lead (even if that isn't advisable!) Am pleased you are happy to selflessly eat my cake! Have just made a tea-bread for picnics on holiday :)

MamaP my PhD is in nineteenth-century poetry. Once it's done, I am retreating to the eighteenth century and staying there.

Will be away for nearly a week so will catch up with everyone's news then, have a good weekend xx

MamaPower · 24/09/2010 16:20

Dachs where are youuuuuu hon? Hope everything is ok x

aurora that sounds like a beautiful subject to do a PhD in Smile see you in a week, have a lovely break x

mama have been lurking rather than posting as I'm finding the 2WW very hard this time. I have (no fish please!) POAS yesterday and today and they were both negative. I know it's still a little early but they were 10 miu tests so should be showing by now. Feeling quite low.

DachshundsRule · 25/09/2010 09:22

owl the builders were much keener on knocking holes in the walls than actually fixing any of the doorways afterwards, so we are still doorless and heatless, and I am still dogless (although we are getting them back from kennels this morning)

Fed up with the dust and the lack of progress.

Are all builders this useless?

DachshundsRule · 25/09/2010 09:27

sorry I've been crap at posting lately everyone. Will try to be a bit better but might be a bit quiet for a few days.

Also, have just discovered that the rules in the area have changed, so previously I couldn't get IVF on the NHS as I was too young (they only gave it to people 36 or older), but now I wouldn't be able to get IVF on the NHS because I'm too old (they only give it to people under 35) and I'll be 35 in November.

Feeling quite grumpy.

Def won't be posting on Tuesday as we have a 'team day' at work, followed by dinner, so don't be surprised not to hear from me then.

Will dutifully POAS on Wednesday anyway, as per my instructions, but I've no hope now that it will be positive. I'll let you all know the outcome though.

kat2504 · 25/09/2010 10:45

dachs that NHS rule change is absolutely ridiculous. Any way of challenging it and complaining. I hate all this postcode lotterly. But FX you won't need it and will have some better luck the good old fashioned way. Sorry about your bfn. It's very disheartening isn't it.

BrownB · 25/09/2010 11:32

Hello to you all...

I've just fallen foul of the NHS age thing too. I created a whole link to have a moan about it, and even got my PCT to send me a link to the guidelines. What a slap in the face. Angry dachs - I seriously hope you don't need it.

BrownB · 25/09/2010 11:37

I have a question for you all...

I miscarried my first over a year ago, and was off the booze for a good six months when we started ttc afterward. After this time, I thought "fuck it" and started drinking again. I now want to stop - it's really not helping my cause and I'm aware of that, but don't want my friends and colleagues to notice as I can't do with that sort of pressure. Any ideas on how to clutch a glass of wine and not drink it at social occasions? Especially given that I really like a nice glass of wine at social occasions..?

owlshoes · 25/09/2010 11:46

Angry Fecking PCTs. This is one of the many reasons I stopped working for the NHS. Postcode lotteries are unfair and completely unethical.

GRRRRR.

Good that you are getting the pooches back today though; you must have missed them loads. And yes, all builders are this useless.

Hello BrownB :) I either a: drive or b: drink lime and soda which looks a bit like it might be booze.

nickstermum · 25/09/2010 13:14

sends hugs xxx

MamaPower · 25/09/2010 14:01

Oh Dachs I am Angry for you!! Take care my love and we'll see you when you are ready...your little spot in the sun will be waiting Wink
Brown Damn it, I was hoping sending you to the pct would have helped! WTF is it with these PCT's and what is the sodding point of the NICE guidelines if they're all allowed to ignore them and make up there own rules! BTW G&T cunningly disguised as Soda or lemonade with ice and a slice!! Or Rum and coke...just coke...with my family gathering I am a dab hand at the art of drinking but not drinking Wink

Nicks Thank you for being around last night over the list debacle...It was shit and I felt crap, although I do realise that I only initiated a discussion it seemed to get out of control, and I never meant for what happened to have happened but never the less... thank you x

Waves to Owl, Kat, Wombat, Velvet.

Apple juice in a wine glass... inspired! Grin

Velvetcu · 25/09/2010 14:26

So I'm stuck on a barge with DHs family for his dads 50th birthday. The usual family arguments are brewing. According to my period tracker today is ov day. We have been SWIing every other day but there is no way we can get it in this weekend!! We are in bunk beds where you can lay in bed and touch all 4 Walls at the sametime, every movement rocks the boat and all sound is magnified through the wood!! Grrrrrrrr!!!

Would much rather be chilling by the pool with you guys :)

nickstermum · 25/09/2010 17:15

Sorry folks, i know i keep popping in - only cos i care Blush No worries mamap i sat looking at it for ages before posting! Didnt kind of know what to say but then i thought, may as well say what i think, thats the purpose of a thread!

velvet cant you go for a walk in the woods or something?! Grin having said that its a bit cold!!

BrownB · 25/09/2010 18:49

Velvet - any chance of a quickie in the toilet...? Grin

nickstermum · 25/09/2010 18:59

Now now brown, you havent known velvet very long!

DachshundsRule · 26/09/2010 10:09

no longer much point me testing on wednesday

af showed up :(

owlshoes · 26/09/2010 10:53

:( Aw, shit, that's not on. This game is no bloody fun, is it?

Perhaps we should try trivial pursuit instead.

Poor Velvet - if you actually manage any action on the barge I think you deserve a medal (chocolate, naturally) for SWI dedication (and stealth) Grin

BrownB to add to your pretend drinking list; last night I went with elderflower fizzy stuff in a wine glass. It does look convincingly like a pale white wine. Which was good, but did mean I had to do hideous kareoke (cannot spell) sober. nobody should ever have to do that. I feel dirty.

MamaPower · 26/09/2010 13:48

dachs, I'm gutted for you! Biggest hug coming your way! Can you do IUI again this coming cycle?

Shocking news Owl I thoroughly disapprove of sober kareoke antics!! hee hee!

OP posts:
BrownB · 26/09/2010 14:43

Am really sorry to hear that Dachs. Am with you on the triv idea Owl.

"Which country in the world has the largest parliament building made entirely of wood...?" a..hem!

Velvetcu · 26/09/2010 15:33

Sorry to hear about AF Dachs.

I haven't managed any barge action but I will still accept the chocolate anyway!!

DachshundsRule · 26/09/2010 15:37

mama can't do IUI as need to get to the clinic for day 2, and they're not open on a Sunday to book appointments, so can't go in tomorrow, which I'd need to.

To be honest I think we'll push them to let us have a go at IVF rather than IUI again - way better odds

right - I'm off to have a strong G&T.
