Come along, we haven't got all day. Pop off your blazers and straw boaters for a mo and listen up. As Head Girl, I think you ought to know that my dear chum Darrell Rivers tells me that we're really letting the side down with our lack of baybee-winning. To that end, instead of prep and lacrosse, we'll be TTC. I know some of us are losing hope that we'll ever win the Motherhood Cup for our house, but chins up and think of England! We don't won't to end up like the bitter, childless, dried-up old spinsters running this place, do w... oh, hello Matron! Yes, yes, we're going now...

Super! We've been given the attic dorm - bagsy the bed by the window, what! We won't be disturbed when we're enjoying midnight feasts, unbridled lesbianism, pillow fights and sneaking in fellows from the nearby boy's school for some ghastly dreadfulness.

So let's pop some Joyce Grenfell on the gramophone and crack open the tuck boxes! Mater's made me a huge ginger cake and oooh, I see someone's brought pontefract cakes! Yummo! Humbugs, sherbet, elderflower fizz, eccles cakes, a whole slab of choccy - what a simply smashing haul! Hmmm, this ginger beer smells suspiciously gin-like...

Oh yes

We re do our bath sealant about every 5 mins. practically every time we have a shower, in fact. Bothersome stuff.

Would anyone like to prod my bazookas to see if they hurt?

moomaker · 29/08/2010 19:38

Evening gals, [removes chocolate, gin, and calendar of naked footballers from case leaving the remaining items looking like they have been through a blender]

Malory Towers quiz dutifully completed, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised, the charactor assassination does fit perfectly...

Supremely self-confident, sharp-tongued, and good at pretty much everything you try, you may not be aware how intimidating or impressive you can seem to those less able than yourself. You are lively, witty, irrepressible Alicia.

But in honour of my heritage a small tweek to Aalikah Schagaul

Saladbomb · 29/08/2010 19:46

haha thats 4 Alicias so far, I guess we should have predicted that :o

Ariesgirl · 29/08/2010 21:11

I guess I should have lied on the "do you like team games" question and said no.

Muser · 29/08/2010 21:57

I got Alicia as well.

owlshoes · 29/08/2010 22:32
Headbanger · 29/08/2010 23:03

I got bloody Sally too Aries.

Urgh. Am deafened by the Carnival (I can't bring myself to say just 'Carnival' like the cool kids) and have danced my legs to stumps, then had to come home and bake for a picnic en famille tomorrow. I must be sober, non-hungover, dutiful, clean and tidy by the time the aged Ps arrive tomorrow. Wish I'd read that grout-cleaning advice earlier! And I have cystitis. Nothing like the hell our Arial has had to suffer but I would quite like to be able to take a piss without sweating and shuddering. Just drank some diluted bicarb . Sometimes wonder whether people post these home remedies as some sort of cruel jest...

Hoopla for Score sessing-up the TYF! What would Mam'zelle say?

Scorpette · 29/08/2010 23:28

There was no sessing! We just couldn't be arsed, even though I think today was actually OV day, not yesterday. Still, got a good 'un in on Friday, so should be okay. Irony of terrible news about not getting the referral is that it has dented our sex drives badly. Sad

HB, may I recommend Holland & Barrett cranberry supplement for the old fire-piss? They work fast and a bottle of 50 is only summat like £3.29.

Good luck with the Ps tomorrow. And good luck with the lactic acid uproar tomorrow after your Terpsichorean Triumph today Grin I trust you showed da yoof how to bogle properly, in the name of BESH pride.

PS When me and TY grow up, I think I'll let him do the grouting. I conveniently forget my hardcore Feminist principles when it comes to any jobs that are either piss-boring or stinky Wink

PPS We went to see Scott Pilgrim. It was quite good, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's not pretty geeky (I like to confuse people by being hyper-fash yet super-geeky) or, at the very least, who didn't let grunge pass them by during the 90s. Was like a young person's film but for people in their late 30s, hmmm.

Gwen? Oh dear, Plop.

Saladbomb · 30/08/2010 09:24

You're on early rie

jealous of HB and carnival, we're just waiting about to go off to the lakes for a 'ramble' so i feel about a thousand years older than you right now. :(

Headbanger · 30/08/2010 09:29

Gah, those bastids at the PCT shouldnae be able to mess with your Seks life as well as your happiness Sad. May I say I remain impressed by your fortitude. In your posish I would be ignoring all the troubles of everyone else. You, Score, = A Trojan.

One hour till the Ps arrive and I am in my dressing gown recovering from a booze induced secks dream about someone wildly inappropriate. And my foots ache. I'm too old for this. Ooh thanks for the H&B recommend: last night I drank a litre of water and half a carton of cranberry juice which seems to have helped but a supplement would be less tedious...

How are our other BESHes? I demand 2WOOFL updates NOW PLIZ!

PS I told my sister I would forgive her winning before me as long as she promised not to use any of my baybee names, because if she did I would accuse her of stealing my baybee. She has agreed, and I'm fucking glad I asked as my number one girl's name was on the list. Can you imagine the carnage?!?!111!1!!!111!

Headbanger · 30/08/2010 09:33

A ramble sounds effing brilliant from my current perspective Lettice. My ears are still ringing from pressing my back to the Gladdy Wax speakers and, erm, my eyes are sore . I was just trying to cheer myself up for another babyfail. Difficult to sulk when you're in the middle of several thousand people singing Toots and the Maytals Grin. Also I haven't seen the countryside in forever Envy. What does a tree look like again?!

moomaker · 30/08/2010 10:27

Morning, appear to have mislocated one of my pink spotty socks, can you all have a look under you beds.

Right then, time to play chicken with karma...Off to browse penthouse appartments in city locations, as I see no reason to be paying stupenous mortgage on "family home" a zillon miles from work, in a rural location with nice schools, running two sensible five door cars, if there are no rugrats to benefit from our nesting. Bound to get diffed the moment we get a 2 seater sports car, and duplex with concierge. (well thats the plan anyway)

Have lovely day all you schoolies, and remember our biology homework need to be in soon. Wink

saltyair · 30/08/2010 11:11

Boonjour Class, Bonjour mam'zelle

In 2WOOFL news I have nothing to report. I realise that I am only a few dpo and therefore couldn't be having any symptoms other than imagined ones, but i conclude i am not diffed. So there

saltyair · 30/08/2010 17:01

Gels? Gels? Ou est les girls aujord'hui?

owlshoes · 30/08/2010 17:32

WTF? I thought I replied but it appears the internet ate my answer. Bloody internet. Either that or I have inadvertently replied to another thread altogether who will now be terribly confused by the concept of 2WOOFLing.

Anyhoo I have been out scrumping wild damsons; nowt like clambering over a few fences to get the pulse racing, what ho!

No 2WOOFLing to report here. No symptoms. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Rien. Tis day 25 or 26 I think and nothing. On the plus side this does mean I will be attending my brother's wedding in March without the risk of any third trimester accidental farting/wetting self etc during the ceremony. Although one of the bride's elderly relatives managed that last time apparently.

Hope your innards are feeling less horrible today, Headgirl .

I have a list of favourite names and the longer I leave it, the more of them are being used by other people. No fair. We should at least be able to make reservations, it's just not on Angry

Scorpette · 30/08/2010 18:04

OwlerMonkey, you need to do what I've done: only choose Old Lady Names or Super-Gaybo* Male Names for your names list, which guarantees that an absolute minority of people will nick them. I'm also pretty much a billy-no-mates, which also helps with the name-nicking thing. Not so hot in all other ways, mind... Sad

PS You can still use the names, you know. But it does feel like they've been besmirched, doesn't it? Angry

*Our agreed boy's name is moderately unusual and old-timer but not embarrassing or effeminate. I defy anyone to make a joke out of Coriolanus!

OP posts:
saltyair · 30/08/2010 18:18

Try working in a school - every time I think of a name some little ferret turns up already called it.

owlshoes · 30/08/2010 18:51

Old Lady Names are definitely the way forwards. I'm thinking Ermintrude or Mabel. Grin

I reckon provided the chosen name doesn't lend itself to obvious mockery in the playground it's all good.

salts I found the same thing when I worked on the maternity ward. It's put me off a load of good names for ever. Alas, I can never call my baybee Chardonnay now. Tis a tragedy.

Muser · 30/08/2010 18:55

Isn't Mabel getting very popular now?

I have very boring taste in names. We have A List and I think nearly every name on it is in the top 20 popular names. I was going to be concerned about it but decided there are worse things in life than having a common name.

saltyair · 30/08/2010 18:57

Is everyone else in detention with Mam'zelle?

I am going to buy wine.....as I am not diffed, I may as well...see, I'm getting on board the Karma Chicken express...I may also eat some raw shellfish..and some soft cheese - i can y'see, as I'm not diffed

Ariesgirl · 30/08/2010 19:26

There are definitely things worse in life than having a common name. Agreed. My fave name for a girl, having said that is quite unusual, and I only found out recently it's an Arabic name. I've know a few Brits called it though.

Salts I'm not diffed either :(. Much to the mirth of some fucking twat I spoke to this morning. But I have whined enough about that.

Shall I change my name? I think Ariesgirl is a bit shit.

saltyair · 30/08/2010 19:33

What happened this morning Rie? Did I miss summat?

I am not Diffed, hopefully in a post modern ironic way. Is day 18.

Ariesgirl · 30/08/2010 19:37

Oh no, I have just whined in real life. He just thinks it's funny to keep asking me often if I'm pregnant yet. I told him this morning it wasn't funny and could he stop, and now he'll think I'm barren and mad. MrA doesn't really see the big deal. And then I got home this evening and find a million photos thoughtfully emailed to me from my mother of her beaming proudly over New Grandson. And my sister's boobs are mahoosive - another reason to resent her Wink

owlshoes · 30/08/2010 19:41

salts I've eaten half a camembert in the last few days and had the odd glass of wine over the last two weeks and I refuse to feel even slightly guilty about it. Raw shellfish though

ariel did you heatbutt said twat? Sounds like s/he merited it.

Mabel? Popular? Really? Good lord above.

I agree that having a common name is absolutely fine; however spelling it in a daft way is generally a bad plan as poor child will spend entire life explaining.
