Where are all the Autumn lovers?

Please cheer me up with all the wonderful things to look forward to in Autumn.
I have had enough of heatwave after heatwave. Especially as a dog owner. Ive just stuck on Gilmore Girls as a means of escape!

So please join me here if you can't wait for Autumn and share any of your Autumn joys!

Went to The Range and Homesense and bought a really lovely pumpkin spice latte candle, autumn themed paint by numbers a autumnal notebook. I am now snuggled with a fluffy blanket (with the fan on ) watching a christmas film!!!!! Hahahaha

I havent watched Gilmore Girls either but its always talked about on that group.
I love getting all the autumn throws and cushions out. New candles, electric blanket back on my bed.
My dd is 13 and absolutely loves it when the nights get dark earlier and telly gets better.
Strictly, bake off, cosy books... I cant wait

I love Autumn .

I really like clear crisp nights with a full moon. Love the time round Hallowe'en ( but not creepy clowns) I am glad it's on a Saturday this year as it gives me time to decorate and I know there will be Trick or Treaters .

I don't do candles because of the cats ( they are little ratbags who would knock one over as quick as blink )
My DD insists on her winter bedding by Nov 1st ( brushed cotton) and she has a holly patterned plush throw for December .
I put the winter bedding for DH&me , and DS room about Dec 1st .

I much prefer A/W clothes to summer . Though in my early 50s (peri) I didn't need a coat , now the last 2-3 years I certainly do !

Guy Fawkes , love the fireworks though they go on a while , especially with Diwali round the same time . The animals certainly don't enjoy it .

I bought this magazine the other day. It comes out every year, but I usually hold out till the end of August to buy it. This year, however, it seems to have been summer since 1989, so I went for it early.

Today I've been in town trying on autumn clothing, deciding on autumn perfume and looking at the new Ghosts film trailer. 🍁🍂👻

Me!! Autumn is my favourite season but for some reason summer lovers get weird and defensive when you say you're looking forward to less heat 🤣 we've got an 8 month old and it's been really stressful making sure they're not overheating in these back to back heatwaves.

I can't wait for the trees to turn orange and red, crisp cold mornings, roast dinners every Sunday (because it's been way too hot to do that recently) and to not have constant daylight. I miss being able to watch a sunrise or sunset!

I usually start watching GG at some point in August to get me in the mood for the upcoming season!

Not sure whether it was someone on this thread or in real life who mentioned it but I’m a couple of episodes into The Living and The Dead, and I’d highly recommend it.

It’s a really well done supernatural series set on a farm in 19th century Somerset. It’s available on Prime if anyone’s interested.

My family think I’m mad when I say I can tell when the air has changed from summer not autumn , usually the last week of the summer hols

Yes! I mentioned to a friend today that the air smells different and she looked at me like I was an alien.

I’ve just started A Discovery of Witches series by Deborah Harkness. Loving the first book and the TV series is available on Now Tv so may have to subscribe for some autumn viewing once I’ve read all the books.

I’ve also seen a new throw in Ikea in perfect autumnal checks so that will be a purchase.

So looking forward to autumn clothing, and pumpkin spice lattes- my favourite time of year.

Me!! I trim up for autumn in mid September and I love getting all my autumn things out then switching them for Halloween things as we get closer to the end of October.
Im an outdoor therapist and lucky enough to work on a farm with a huge orchard. Apple (and other fruit) picking and pressing-best time of the year!

Hello fellow Autumn lovers!

I have definitely 'switched' into Autumn mode. It's chilly here in the evening and early mornings, and the leaves were falling in the woods yesterday. Already starting to show some beautiful colours.

Currently 9 degrees here. I have only been without a hoodie / layers for June and part of July. We haven't rrally had a heatwave this far North thankfully!

I cannot wait to put my Autumn wreath on the door on the first day of meteorological Autumn. Not least because it's enormous and gets it from under my bed. I love seeing Autumn and Christmas wreaths, but totally cannot get ny head around summer ones as they just look wrong.

Dates have just been put in the diary for various things. Sloe picking and thereforr sloe gin making. Christmas cake ingredients ordered mid Sept and cake made sometime in October. First week of Sept, M&S start putting out the Christmas stuff. Mainly biscuits etc. Its a tradition for me to drop DD off first day back at school then go and have a cuppa and bacon sarnie at M&S café and see what they have in yet, then have a walk in the woods. Oh, and the Poncetastic thread starts on the 24th of this month.

Hurrah for (almost) Autumn! 🍂

Oh. And my pumpkin needs to get a move on. I think I had better feed it again! 🥮

Oh and candles have been a glow here for the past few nights, and I am currently doing very well making an entire bookshelf (or possibly two) of Autumn and winter reads.

Totally agree. I love autumn, it's my favourite season for so many of the reasons stated above but I detest the word cosy. All the nice autumn homeware in the shops is ruined with twee slogans like 'cosy club' 'snuggle season' and 'hello pumpkin!'

I've noticed the nights are drawing in ever so slightly.

"Cosy" is one step away from "Hibernation"

I am (inspired by a thread on Style&Beauty re- A/W fashion) looking at coats . I don't need any more but I will have to find a space for the ones in that are bagged in the attic.
DH and I are on holiday this month so planning my clothes for that . Then a lot of them ( including evening clothes ) will be washed , sorted out and put back in the attic.

I notice when the cats are suddenly wearing their winter coats . They're in Summer Coat Mode right now ( as evidenced by the amount of fur they leave about ) . The guinea-pigs we had used to go from sleek coat to double in size overnight as their winter fur sprang in.

When I get back I will sort out the Christmas Clean A Long List .
In the beginning it is mainly cleaning , decluttering and recycling , not much fun but very theraputic .

Right now , I'm sitting in a house with a hallway in the throws of redecoration, going to choose paint , hose pipe ban starts in less than 24 hours .
I'm sure my NDN are doing a party or something .
Autumn here feels a long way off , !

I don’t mind cosy so much but I very strongly object to the creeping americanised abomination of ‘cozy’. It’s gaining ground in the book world and I hate it 😬

Argh I love the idea of a Christmas clean along!

I want to move mine up though and have it done for mid October as I love the autumn, we moved back in to our fave house last October and I now need to make some changes to room layout and do a bunch if decluttering so we can have a bit more of a peaceful time

Oh there's a load of things I would happily give back to the USA.

The Holidays - (instead of Christmas)
Evil Clowns
Spelling "Hallowe'en" as Halloween
Candy Canes (they look pretty but taste like toothpaste)
Cupcakes with a huge swirl of buttercream (though in America it's different so maybe not as sickly)

Though I do envy the decorations for Hallowe'en , especially when you see houses with huge porches that have piles of pumpkins . Dry , cold weather helps too . And they decorate for a few days not just one night .

Ooh I love Gilmore Girls. I usually start re-watching it from September 😊
I love autumn. This summer has been nice, but the heat is getting me down now. I am yearning for leaf kicking, pumpkins, Halloween movies, hot chocolate, jumpers and scarves and home made stew 🧡🧡

How could I forget Strictly! My count down to Christmas 😊
