Small Business Supporters- Christmas

Thesmallbusinesssupporter · 13/09/2025 13:24

I know there’s a long standing Christmas bargains thread, but I thought it might be worth starting a thread for people who want to support small businesses this Christmas?

Not only are they a bit cheaper in many areas but our support probably means far more to them than it does to Amazon etc. So, this is a thread for those of us who want to help small businesses grow and, perhaps, pick up a bargain along the way!

So, as someone who will only be buying from Small Businesses this Christmas - hit me with your best buys. And, tell the rest of us what you really want (perfumes, candles, paintings, slippers etc) and let’s see who we can support this Christmas 🌟

Flapjackery gluten-free flapjacks are amazing, selection boxes and gifts available.

These look great. Do they do special boxes for Christmas normally?

Hi all.
Great post as I’ll only be buying gifts from small businesses this Christmas so this will be so helpful for gift ideas.

This is my lovely little business page and lots of Christmas pieces being added soon.

Just bumping this back up a bit - as I've found a few good gems on this so far.

The Cordials ( https://mrfitzpatricks.com/our-drinks/fruits-and-flowers-traditional-cordials/ ) are lovely.

The Candle/WaxMelt business I originally linked has a sale on, so it's even cheaper than normal and does a 'home fragrance' festive bundle which I've just ordered for DSis.

Are Bomb Cosmetics small? I think they have an actual shop so I don't know if that counts? Bath bombs and soaps anyway.

Illustrations on gifts - tea towels, t shirts etc. Very lovely owner and tshirts are soft and wash well

https://miniaturemining.com Is a great family business who have buckets of sand with fossils and gems in them which you have to shift through. We bought them for an event at church and now I rave about them all the time and have bought some for my own children and presents for friends and family, all of whom have loved them!

Not my business but last min special gift from the little jewelry company ,personalised locket for my daughter. The plate was printed with a special message and we all chose a charm to go in

I didn't pay for special postage but they got it to me before the day id left it tight. Excellent customer service and I was worried about quality but it looked fabulous

StatuteofLiberty · 28/09/2025 21:21

Mercers for amazing jam and chutney.

The company was recommended on here a few years ago and I’ve ordered from them several times now. Really lovely.

Ooo thank you for highlighting these. I remember seeing this shop way back in 2020/21 when I was pregnant with DS and they had the best lemon cheese. Now I’m pregnant again all I can think about is the lemon cheese but couldn’t remember the shop name.

thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Love this idea and I think its worth linking to some previous Christmas threads supporting independents as hopefully many are still in business:

The thread fizzled out the following next year so good to see it again.

I stand by my recommendation for:

https://www.instagram.com/kyungdesigns/

She has expanded the range to do more personalised event stationary since I first tagged her.

Just incase you aren’t on the bargain threads.
There’s a sale on over the weekend of 250 small sellers
Super seconds festival

i bought a lot last year and another poster reminded me of it. It’s also a great way of finding new businesses, lots have 10% off their entire ranges as well as seconds /sample sales

Lovely woman in the Lakes has a soap/bath products business making natural, chemical-free stuff., Beside the Lake Soaps. The soaps are really beautiful and she packages nicely. I met her at a craft fair and have bought from her ever since:

Natural soap for men!
Buying for men is really hard, and I have a picky one!! However, natural soap is a relatively new concept especially for men who usually don’t care if they use a cheap shower gel!

Check out Tetra Zebra natural soap for men.

It really is all natural! No added rubbish, smells amazing, looks great in the bathroom and has a fantastic lather!

Also, as a woman I use it myself as some of the scents are amazing!!

Great, I was searching for a thread like this. I'll think of some ideas to add.

rainbowstardrops · 04/10/2025 09:33

Oh I like the idea of this!

Just thought of another one. If you or DDs have long feet this company is worth a look:

https://ottoandivy.com/

They have been a boon to my DDs. They are a bit more expensive than the high street so may feature on Christmas lists but the quality of shoes and service has been great.

As they are small they give detailed instructions on measuring feet to get the right size first time (they don’t have the massive ASOS like stocks to support “order 10 pairs, buy 1 pair” but have great customer service if you need to change anything).

Size 8 Women's Shoes | Size 9 Women's Shoes | Size 10 | Size 11 | 12

Otto + Ivy creates stylish, feminine shoes for women who wear UK sizes 8–12 or Europeans sizes 42-46. Discover beautifully made flats, heels, boots & sandals designed to fit and flatter. Free UK delivery & easy returns.

I've mentally bought a load of those cordials. Some great flavours including a range od no added sugar ones.
