Small Business Supporters- Christmas

Thesmallbusinesssupporter · 13/09/2025 13:24

I know there’s a long standing Christmas bargains thread, but I thought it might be worth starting a thread for people who want to support small businesses this Christmas?

Not only are they a bit cheaper in many areas but our support probably means far more to them than it does to Amazon etc. So, this is a thread for those of us who want to help small businesses grow and, perhaps, pick up a bargain along the way!

So, as someone who will only be buying from Small Businesses this Christmas - hit me with your best buys. And, tell the rest of us what you really want (perfumes, candles, paintings, slippers etc) and let’s see who we can support this Christmas 🌟

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HeavenSlates Personalised slates for loved ones graves. I have bought a few this year for different occasions for my Dad’s grave. Really great quality and the customer service is fantastic.

And maybe not strictly a small business, but I often buy from RNLI shops as they have nice gifts, especially stocking fillers.

Bit of a cross thread but there are a good few small businesses in the recommendations thread for adult stocking fillers, especially around soaps, cosmetics and other small items. The thread is here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5069479-adult-stocking-filler-ideas-all-year-round?

Just remember to page down to the Xmas ’25 posts as not all the old links will still work.

I have no idea where that quote came from - apologies!

I’ve just had an order from www.ultrabeehealth.co.uk/ delivered - some lovely items for Christmas but also excellent customer service.

My friends daughter has her own shop here http://www.eleanorpercivaldesign.com/ or on etsy if you search her name.
The offerings change depending on what she has been making. For instance last year she had stained glass Christmas ornaments

Lovely thread!

The first one that pops to mind for me is Can to Candle https://cantocandle.com/product-category/christmas-shop/

if you sign up you get 10% (I think) off all year round. I used to buy white company ones but am totally converted.

I love Can to Candle! Beautiful candles and they seem a lovely couple. I would love to go to one of their workshops.
I'm signed up to the newsletter and recently bought the Advent candle reduced because of tiny imperfections to the candle holder .

Perfume : uk based eco friendly run and owned by a woman.
www.4160tuesdays.com

Coffee: baytown coffee from Whitby - best I've had

Soaps and toiletries: owned and run by a woman www.futureprimitive.co.uk

If you are interested in supporting h women's businesses try the site buy women built 😊

Just on to recommend the perfume company. I always request a taster set for birthdays and Christmas because I like a perfume to match my mood so like lots of choice. They are gorgeous and last really well.

What a great thread! Those natural crayons would be perfect for my grandchildren.

My recommendations are:

Dog treats from https://www.davidsdogdeli.co.uk/?srsltid=AfmBOop_jnOKfuRa-YELOIQUv4LUTMABBtQFB8zw8fq3ou3ShxlQ12mKShop David's Dog Deli (Their treats are all hypoallergenic and they do some fun Christmas ones - I bought the Quality Street style ones),

Tea and biscuit gift boxes from https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LovelyGiftsUK2025 (I bought one as a get well soon gift for a colleague and it was really well received, so I've bought more as stocking fillers for adult DCs).

I also like to give charity gifts like sponsoring an animal at a local sanctuary. I like to think they benefit more than when buying things from the larger organisations.

https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Mutluartstudio - I was searching for a 'trinket' dish and came across this seller. I've just ordered but it'll take about two weeks to come! I shall update with how I get on but I have v. high hopes given the reviews

Updating to say this arrived today and is absolutely beautiful! Incredibly happy 😊Between this and the cheaper dupe candles I am well set for Christmas

Oh they are gorgeous!

HeatingFiddler · 26/10/2025 13:22

@Here4the it is absolutely stunning! I got the 'turtle' one and it is just as beautiful and bright as it is in the photos. I'd take a photo, but my photography skills leave a lot to be desired - i'd just end up making you think 'oh god no.'

I think I must have done 90% of my Christmas shopping on Etsy this year 😀

This is a great thread!
We're getting experiences for our DCs - seeing Six for DD and a zookeeper half day for DS, and I'm thinking of a CD to open on the day for DD and maybe a soft toy for DS who is 13 but still loves new soft toys.
If I'm ordering books as gifts and want new ones I often order from Hive, any thoughts on CDs?
I might look on Etsy for soft toys but there is also a good brand that's often sold in e.g. zoo gift shops but I can't remember the name just now!

drspouse · 26/10/2025 16:56

Oh also DH who is a bit of a thinking football fan often asks for books from this shop.

Bought a few bits from this small independent business, run by the lovely Judith. The socks and soaps would make for some nice gifts/ stocking fillers.

Football fans may like some ideas from www.MatchDayExperience.Online

I like the soaps and balms from www.BritishMadeSkincare.co.uk

FeyreandRhysand · 13/11/2025 13:29

Posted this in the main Christmas bargains thread but I use this Etsy shop for gift reveals cards / tickets. I used them last year for Disneyland Paris reveal cards for the kids but they have all sorts, Center Parcs reveals, horse riding lesson tickets, golf weekends etc. I just got a national trust membership reveal for my parents.

They also do travel planners for Paris and Orlando so I’ve ordered one of those for my niece going next year.

I went to a Christmas craft fair today and came across a business run by a lovely woman selling soap. I know we see lots of soap but these were really lovely. I bought a mini soap gift set (she let me choose the ones I wanted) but I need to order online because DD fell in love with the Nessy one.

Arthouse unlimited do really beautiful gifts and the artwork is made by a social enterprise supporting people with disabilities.

The national trust shop usually has really lovely bits and their shops have local stuff alongside the nationwide options.

Thank you for Arthouse Unlimited! What an amazing selection! I’ve filled my basket and shared it with family/friends.
