Small Business Supporters- Christmas

Thesmallbusinesssupporter · 13/09/2025 13:24

I know there’s a long standing Christmas bargains thread, but I thought it might be worth starting a thread for people who want to support small businesses this Christmas?

Not only are they a bit cheaper in many areas but our support probably means far more to them than it does to Amazon etc. So, this is a thread for those of us who want to help small businesses grow and, perhaps, pick up a bargain along the way!

So, as someone who will only be buying from Small Businesses this Christmas - hit me with your best buys. And, tell the rest of us what you really want (perfumes, candles, paintings, slippers etc) and let’s see who we can support this Christmas 🌟

You choose loket type, the charms to go in and you can get an inscription on the back also

I adore the idea of loved before, thank you for sharing.

great idea for a thread. My addition would be Isle of Skye candle company - I adore their scents

FallingIntoAutumn · 16/11/2025 22:12

those Lockets are great. Trying to think who i could get one for

Cyclingmummy1 · 16/11/2025 22:19

I'll second a PP's recommendation for FreckleFace diffusers but I want to try Bernicia now. She's local to me.

lydiastattooedladies · 16/11/2025 23:27

A cheeky wee plug for my own little indi business.
I ‘tattoo’ ornaments…

Quite often my pieces fit the brief for those hard to buy for men!

I’ve recently ordered from this new shop on Etsy and can vouch for the quality - coconut wax candles, amazing pure long lasting scent. Gorgeous packaging - highly recommend. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/CraftedSnuggery

This is a lovely thread/idea. I try to order through our local indie bookshop rather than Amazon and other local places as the money means so much more to them and I want them to keep going! A couple of local shout outs to me are to Games Crusade https://www.gamescrusade.co.uk (in Ilkley Harrogate but you can order online) - an indie toy shop that specialises in interesting/unusual board games and Fusion Chocolate - a local chocolatier who hand makes stunning looking & tasting chocs in her small workshop and delivers uk wide: https://fusionchocolate.co.uk/.

This is a great thread!
We're getting experiences for our DCs - seeing Six for DD and a zookeeper half day for DS, and I'm thinking of a CD to open on the day for DD and maybe a soft toy for DS who is 13 but still loves new soft toys.
If I'm ordering books as gifts and want new ones I often order from Hive, any thoughts on CDs?
I might look on Etsy for soft toys but there is also a good brand that's often sold in e.g. zoo gift shops but I can't remember the name just now!

Is it Living Nature by any chance? I've think I've seen those in National Trust type shops. WWF also have plushes which are nice as they support the real animals: https://shop.wwf.org.uk/collections/plushies

If you're looking for handmade, clay earrings that are fun and well made, I can recommend evergreen www.jewellery.co.uk/ Forever Green Jewellery who has a huge range and is the sweetest person. They launched their Christmas range yesterday.

It isn't, I think it's a German brand with quite a long name.

FurForksSake · 17/11/2025 18:41

Schleich is the brand that sells the animals etc in the zoo.

Aren't those hard play animals?

FurForksSake · 17/11/2025 19:24

Sorry; I just read zoo and toy animals 😱😱😱

FurForksSake · 17/11/2025 19:28

Is it Hermann? Otherwise Keel toys are nice plushies.

UrbanMage · 17/11/2025 19:31

I can also recommend: Rambsbottom Soap Company for whipped soaps and lovely soap sponges. Not the fanciest packaging for the smaller whipped soaps but they have cute mini hampers and the quality is superb.

This company provides a variety of works from full kitchens and bathrooms to small functional craft/art pieces and each project is just exquisite.

Simple Guide to Fishing - this is a fantastic book for a young fisherman/woman. It’s written by a fishing YouTuber (excellent and non sweary!) called Carl (“FishwithCarl”) it’s one of the very few books both my teenagers have read and re read.
I would wholeheartedly recommend for anyone who is starting to get into any kind of fishing - we’ve gifted it to quite a few of the boys friends at 10-13

The Simple Fishing Guidebook

A 100 page guidebook, full of colour illustrations and helpful fishing information. Identify 25 popular fish species, where they live and where to catch them. Learn fishing knots, rigs, baits, lures, tactics and so much more!

If you are looking for your dog I can highly recommend petscalmdown.co.uk . They are family run. They sell lovely nose and paw balm and soaps. They also sell treats and dog food too. Fantastic customer service and really helpful if you have any issues.
