Independent sellers and small businesses

I think it was last year that there was a thread running where people recommended small businesses or Etsy shops they’ve bought from. I’m really keen to support the small business this year, plus on the whole are that little bit different.

Any recommendations?

Think I started a similar thread last year especially since there was a lack of the usual craft fairs.
I recommend the following:
www.homespunheath.com/ Her clay decorations are lovely I have the ginger boy & girl and Rudolph’s.

www.facebook.com/groups/sewfarleys/?ref=share This lady can create any ginger you want, I got my ds a cub one and created a gorgeous bookmark for his teacher.

I’ve got another to add
www.tinybubblesstore.com/ These baby clothes are amazing, brilliant quality and exclusive prints. Honestly I’m gutted I don’t have any little ones to buy clothes for.

Great thread. Ive just ordered a whole lot of stuff including a selection of solid shampoos and soaps from some Etsy shops. Will report back when they arrive.

Bowlofhotslop · 02/11/2021 09:52

I was searching for this thread as last year’s was so helpful, so glad I have found it!

I bought some beautiful wooden baubles from wearebreadandjam.co.uk/ last year, they are such good quality and you can put messages inside for the following year, really sweet. I think they do gifts too.

If you live in a town, check out a Christmas market.

chillimice · 02/11/2021 10:50

i also absolutely love all the knitted headbands, scarves and hats and especially the woollen russian socks which come in amazing patterns and make brilliant gifts (amazing for camping! never had cold feet since i bought some) from jo jo knits

I found Braw Wee Emporium last year, thanks to this thread. They do fabulous stuff like Irn Bru lip salve and bath salts - I got lots of Scottish-style stocking fillers from them:

My additions are: Papertown crafts for kids craft kits, babygotback boutique (Etsy) for unique upcycled kids clothes, askmummyanddaddy for personalised sweets (well covered for vegan, dairy free etc), metalmotif.co.uk for quirky metal garden ornaments, Bowtastic clips for beautiful bows, headbands etc and lastly jumblebee.co.uk for lovely reusable gift bags (for charity too!).

chillimice · 02/11/2021 14:58

Oh and I forgot Jeremy's Home Store for Jellycat toys. Fractionally cheaper and free postage too!

www.the-chocolate-emporium.com do imported chocolates.
I’ve bought bags of 30 different flavoured Lindt balls for £16.99 which includes European and American flavours.
They went down a storm last year.

Fishlegs · 02/11/2021 19:23

Great thread.

This lady makes beautiful hand knitted hats and scarves from alpaca wool. I’ve just ordered a lovely headband from her. www.sosatsuma.co.uk

Then this lady (self-styled ‘wild woman of North Wales’) makes amazing soaps, I gave my sis and sil one each of her gift packages last Christmas and they loved them. www.mothermoonmakes.co.uk
