Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I got a gorgeous jewellery tray from OB a few months back in their sale using my credit, it came to £3.95 delivered and it's for a Secret Santa. Think the recipient will be very happy with it!

Every year someone complains about the ‘chat’ and every year the overall consensus is that we all enjoy the chat.
Thanks reastie for new thread.

CandyRaining · 26/11/2024 08:47

Sorry that was in response to someone at the end of the last thread who complained about the chat.

It Christmas tradition for this argument now though isn't it 😂

Good morning Christmas shoppers!

AMAZON have £15 off your first APP order. I just used it and it applied automatically at checkout. The offer was displayed on their website - click accept promotion then log into the APP.

Webbb · 26/11/2024 09:19

The chat doesn't bother me, but people thanking Reastie for the new thread does. Shows who doesn't read her opening post.

And people sharing their referral codes for the same reason.

FOODIES

Sone really lovely things on the Delli Market website. Interesting hot sauces, condiments, snacks and delicious chocolates with great branding. They sell hampers too. I ordered lots for my cool sibling and used this discount code for 20% off GETPEPESPARM
Hope that helps someone.

Has anyone had an Aquila magazine subscription for their kids? I think my daughter would like it but I feel it seems a little pricey. Was wondering if it’s worth the price.

Karlkennedyslovechild · 26/11/2024 09:35

Anyone got any advice on which is better: kids against maturity or cards against humanity kids edition?

BoilingHotand50something · 26/11/2024 09:43

Peacocks have 20% off everything today. I have been waiting for a discount but I was hoping for lower … may try and hold out!

PadstowGirl · 26/11/2024 09:47

Does anyone have any recommendations for those little pots for yoghurt, with a separate compartment for fruit/muesli?

Thanks.

We have kids against maturity. Tween DSs love it, I was well and truly sick of bum related jokes after 10 minutes playing!

Not tried the other version I'm afraid

We tried it a few years back & my kids didn't enjoy it. It's quite dry & more like a text book than anything else. I have bookworm kids so it wasn't the amount of text that was the problem they just didn't enjoy the content.(despite the topics being things they're interested in)

obviously YMMV!

Ness1234 · 26/11/2024 09:57

Ordnance Survey have some interesting bits in their Black Friday deal.

WeaselTrap · 26/11/2024 09:59

Can anyone suggest any soft cotton jersey men’s pyjamas for mrweasel? I got some a couple of years ago from Primark - premium pima cotton when they were doing fancy eco stuff. He needs XXL as is 6’6” tall. Thanks in advance!

MeanMrMustardSeed · 26/11/2024 10:01

Are there any gamers on here who know anything about gaming monitors please? I’ve just had the idea to get one for DS12 but we don’t know the first thing about what we’re looking for. He uses a Nintendo Switch (bought in panic at the start of lockdown!). At the moment my plan is to buy the most expensive RRP that is reduced to under £100, but if anyone has spotted a great deal, I’d really appreciate some advice!
Also, I was looking at the Argos deals and remembered that’s lots of people have Argos deals. How do you get those please? I just downloaded the app, but there are no vouchers on there that I can see.
