Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Just ordered some fancy looking ones from Ocado £16 down to £11.

ZIGGY911 · 26/11/2024 16:01

I'd recommend Owala water bottles too. My daughter was recommended them when she was at ballet school in New York in the summer as the American kids all use them in preference to Stanley. I got one from Amazon but they are shipping directly now.

Does anyone know what River Island might offer for Black Friday? I have no experience of buying for teenage girls and now find myself on the receiving end of a very long wish list. The teen is delightful and will be grateful for whatever I treat her to, but I can't resist trying to get the best deal. I'm wondering whether to stick with the 4.25% cash back that TCB may give me, or hold out for the chance of a larger store wide discount later this week. Any advice from the Christmas experts? TIA x

Christmas trees 🎄! Really in need of a new one this year after 12 years .. has anyone bought anything in the last couple of years they’d recommend? Ideally 7 ft, bushy and green (no snow covered due to cats!) Happy to buy online but a bit nervous to without seething the trees first

Normallynumb · 26/11/2024 16:28

Sainsbury's has the 1L Baileys for £10( nectar price)

TimPat · 26/11/2024 16:28

@sidecg we got a pack of 3 Zulu water bottles from Costco. Around £18 for the set I think and they're the best we've had. They've stood up to DD who can destroy pretty much anything and the lid has a lock function to prevent leaks. Would recommend.

IllBeHomeForChristmas · 26/11/2024 16:33

£5 off your order at Bloom Cosmetics with VIP53721

Can also be stacked with their 4 for 3 offer on whipped soaps. Great for stocking fillers

Bluenose1966 · 26/11/2024 16:39

@pasinphoebe I have had a few trees from John Lewis over the years and they have been lovely.

Balsam Hill have gone down in quality of recent years.

The White Company ones looked quite nice, but I don't have one in person to confirm. I got rid of my Balsam Hill, they do hold residual value and I sold it for virtually what I paid for it

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 26/11/2024 16:51

Thank you for the help. Santas calendar has been completed

Can any recommend a nice child's bottle, preferably with a straw mechanism, which doesn't leek?
We have been through soooo many which are rubbish, I'm hoping that with BF deals I can get a decent one for a good price!
Thank you

SIGG are very good

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 26/11/2024 17:05

I remember in previous years there were discussions about companies that shipped abroad for no extra charge. I need to send presents for 3 children in Canada and the cost of postage is insane so looking for the best way to do it

Clarabellybutton · 26/11/2024 17:09

Liz Earle have up to 40% off in BF event here

I stocked up on my usual No 15 perfume.

Clarabellybutton · 26/11/2024 17:12

Also, I got 20% off and free postage when I ordered two Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal eyeliners. No code needed. 20% appears to be site wide here

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 26/11/2024 17:21

@aquietlifeplease not sure of your budget. I’ve been wondering about this port and cheese set for my DB.

NeighbourHitMyCar · 26/11/2024 17:22

I don't know about the port but I got my mum the stilton gift set (with the additional stilton with truffle) and she said it was fantastic and the best stilton she's ever had! @TherebytheGraceofGodgoI

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 26/11/2024 17:23

@aquietlifeplease
There are some nice bottles on Laithwaite's and referral from the referral page would take £40 off new customer order of £80

If you have a Homebase near you, head there! Mine has all the christmas trees 50% off (at least) because they're in administration.

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 26/11/2024 17:27

@NeighbourHitMyCar thanks for that! I’ve been staring at it wondering if it was worth the price or just overpriced. There are lovely Stilton cheese gifts on the site which I’ll now buy for DH. Something different that he’s not had before

I had a message today saying 20% off but to get that you need to spend £75!

Timetochangenow · 26/11/2024 17:40

@pasinphoebe ours in John Lewis, this will be its 8th or 9th year and it’s still going strong and looks lovely and full

hugsandpugs · 26/11/2024 17:47

@evtheria @Bed123 @paintyhands inboxed you both the codes you asked for. Hope they work ok for you.

@Fuckingfuckssake thanks so much for the birthday wishes! ❤️

On another note can anyone recommend some nice red alcohol free wine? 🍷 🙏
