Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Has any one had any luck using their JL bathroom offer on rewards?
I've tried so many different products but nothing is being accepted? Thanks :)

It worked on beach towels for me- they were reduced to half price as well, so it surprised me that it worked, but it did.

Was really pleased when they arrived. Good thick towelling and enormous- bath sheet sort of sized.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a digital photo frame? I know there’s a few different ones about but would love to have a personal recommendation. It’s for a Christmas gift for my grandparents who are in their 80s, so would like one that had an app that I can upload photos to it. Can’t really stretch to Aura prices though, probably £60 tops. Thanks!

I have an Aura one and it's fantastic and so brilliantly easy to use and upload photos too. If you can find a discount anywhere then go for it. I know that's the one you said you can't stretch to, so someone else might have a cheaper alternative. But wanted to say it was the absolute hit of last year and worth it.

Itsigginingtolookalotlikexmas · 30/11/2024 14:14

Cheapest Aura is £129 - they have £20 off which brings it to 129.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2024 14:59

Oops. Wrong thread!

I'll post that Freemans have 25% off with F99P code instead. Full
price, non-electricals, only. Free delivery too!

OkyDoke · 30/11/2024 15:33

NXMAS24 gets £25 off at celtic and Co, I've ordered two nice pairs of socks separately for £9.95 each

On the Harry Potter fan club site it says Hogwarts Legacy game down to £15 on all consoles until Sunday.

Is there a way to buy this as a gift for a family member?! He has a switch. On. Nintendo store its asking for a Nintendo account but not sure if I need to sign up to one or if I need his account details?!
Also will it come ad a download card or something. It won't go straight onto his switch will it? I don't want him to have it til Christmas.

Londonmummy66 · 30/11/2024 16:09

@PeskyPotato I have sent you a DM re charity gifts

MerylSqueak · 30/11/2024 16:17

@PeskyPotato I couldn't recommend the Glosdy Boxes. I got them for myself last year and there were lots of really insure stuff I wouldn't use and lots of sample sizes for things I also wouldn't use, like glitter body spray.

IlovePond · 30/11/2024 16:36

@PeskyPotato - GB are also refusing to acknowledge my request to cancel my subscription, despite my telling them I signed up in error.

The stuff in their boxes is also, imo, absolute tat. Mine’s going straight in the bin.

I wish I had never heard of them.

Georgieporgie29 · 30/11/2024 16:53

The Fahlo bracelets are down to £9 and TFT20 takes an additional 20% off.

imnottoofussed · 30/11/2024 19:39

@PeskyPotato why not contact bridal beauty company to see if they can do anything special for you buying in bulk?

Any ideas for my lovely nephews aged 11 and 8? They like Fortnite, Minecraft and making a racket on various musical instruments / in general 😂

Honestly I expect vbucks would go down well with both of them. You can also get NERF guns that are Fortnite branded and modelled after some of the weapons in the game. Lego have brought out Fortnite models but I've seen that demand means new orders may not arrive before Christmas now.

V bucks are very popular with my DN’s!

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 30/11/2024 21:16

Just adding to the Fortnite talk, yes 100% VBucks! Also, I've bought some VBuck stickers that fit perfectly on to chocolate coins VBucks chocolate coins stickers from an Etsy seller, just to add a little more Fortnite theme to my nephews gifts.

Not exactly a bargain, but a heads up that if like us you have Jus-Rol croissants etc on Christmas morning, they're now in date for Christmas.

One year I couldn't get my hands on them in the week before Christmas, so now I look early and stock up!

We have these every year and last year missed out so thanks, I'll get some this week
