Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@MaybeMrs thanks for the tip off! Just ordered, I don't have Prime but got it delivered to a locker for free (another tip from this thread!)

I am in search of a large glass 'sweetie' jar, a requested gift from my grown up DD. she saw one 'somewhere' that had a stem and a lid.

anyone any ideas??? if it could not break the bank that would be fabulous...

Its not massive but ive got a lovely sweetie jar with a stem from home bargains - i use mine for my dishwasher tablets so its a decent size. Its out of stock online but I've seen them in store recently - mines got a silver lid tho. home.bargains/product/l12401/blooming-beautiful-glass-sweet-jar-on-stand-(case-of-12)

Thank you! Not to sound like a complete pleb but are all the ones in the offer called bad bitch? Anything more tween friendly?

Looking for all white chunky trainers ideally Steve Madden or Nike. Appreciate any input

If you have a Nike account, check your messages in the app. I had £20 off a £60 spend in mine yesterday, and hubby had 20% off full priced items in his. It's worth having an account even just for the free delivery.

My dream sweetie jar is the Emma Bridgewater one, but at £110 it will never be mine…

tealdrop · 13/11/2024 21:53

@IlovePond I think that might have been me on another thread - that looks lovely, thank you!

hugsandpugs · 13/11/2024 21:55

Bit of a random one but anyone is an imagine dragons fan (like me!) their origins vinyl is the lowest price I’ve ever seen it down to £20.75 on Amazon saving 40%! ❤️🤩

Home bargains have some lovely biscuit tins for 2.99 - the type you usually find for £14 in garden centres!

Do you have a picture please?

Nowdontmakeamess · 13/11/2024 21:58

Sainsbury’s have 25% off Christmas bedding. I got the rainbow Christmas tree double set for £15.

Also got a men’s basic t-shirt for £1.80 - should have been £6 & no reduction sticker so maybe an error but will be heading back tomorrow to see if I can get more!

Vimaybe · 13/11/2024 21:59

HarperCollins publishers have 50% off today and tomorrow. I've just sorted my arkward DF present, fun Paddington Christmas letters for DS and an unexpected treat cookbook for me all for £30 with free shipping.

Plus it offered me a selection of free gifts/vouchers - not sure if there is anything I should be excited about but I selected 60% off site wide at Photobox code as I plan on buying a photobook plus a free gruum box, purely just to understand what you were all getting in thread 1 that I missed 😂

And Olaplex, I ordered Saturday about 1pm, both orders just delivered with bauble gifts. I don’t think they are worth £16, even though they are on Next for that price, I’d say £8. I’m more impressed with the samples which will be great for travel.

I would completely agree with that
Got my mum to do an order too as I have 2 DDs and think I am going to keep the 2 samples for myself!

HoffiCoffii · 13/11/2024 22:06

Are there ever any big Argos vouchers around? I'm not really really wanting to spend £399 on a laptop, so would really like to knock £50 off at least to bring it in budget. Any ideas? Can't find it cheaper elsewhere, is it likely to be more reduced on black Friday itself?

IlovePond · 13/11/2024 22:11

You’re welcome @tealdrop - I think it looks very pretty.

On a related note: I find www.allbeauty.com a pretty good site for bargains. I have the EL eye serum in my basket at the moment at under £41. It’s gone up a horrendous amount recently and, as I use it every day, I get through it quickly. (Debating whether to wait until BF because both EL and Boots occasionally have very good offers or get it now.)

Our work have set up a secret Santa using Amazon wish list. Its to be small cost items
I’m thinking sweets, note pads - ran out of ideas….we all work remotely, I’m happy to purchase for others but I’m being encouraged to build a little list myself

I like house plants, things to keep me warm in the garden office, partial to a sweet treat - off to see how much Turkish delight is!

Delahot · 13/11/2024 22:31

Anyone seen any chocolate covered Turkish delight on their travels? Thornton’s don’t do it anymore 🥺 and hard to find a nice box for a pressie.

If it’s something your DD wouldn’t mind, the best place to look would be charity shops. They always have lovely crystal dishes, etc

The name put me off buying for my nieces.
They also have a deal on the lip mask and scrub set, which might be more appropriate

Salter hot chocolate maker is half price in Robert Dyas. We need a new one after velvetiser broke. Is this any good?
