Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

1000 replies

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@fishfingersandchipsagain last year from being on here I got a lovely 12 days advent calendar of socks for half the rrp and they were very good quality.

I'm sure they did a ladies and men's version and I'm 99% sure it was the white company...?

I'll look back and try to find- it was a Black Friday deal I think.

Salter hot chocolate maker is half price in Robert Dyas. We need a new one after velvetiser broke. Is this any good?

We have one & it’s great! 😊

I think it was white stuff

It was white stuff. I'm wearing a pair now!

Check your Clubcard offers, I had a 15% off clothing which stacked with the current 25%. My £25 jumper dress was £16 😀 used this morning

Tesco do Clubcard 'offers?'

I thought it was only 'Clubcard prices'

jocktamsonsbairn · 13/11/2024 23:02

Anyone know any deals for:
Yeti water bottles - £40 for a water bottle is leaving me a bit 😮

Black suede adidas samba - adult size unfortunately. Budgets nearing the demolition stage so bargains very welcome!!

Thanks. Can you use the hotel chocolate pouches in it too?

Thanks to PP for the P Louise lip glosses got mine today and they look great!
Does anyone know if any codes for New Balance or if they do Black Friday? DD has asked for some 530’s but they’re a £100 everywhere. Don’t know whether to buy before they go oos or hold my nerve for any offers!

Depending on the size and colour you need Urban Outfitters and ASOS have some New Balance 530s which are reduced. I think I might also have a 10% discount code for New Balance if that helps?

Anyone seen any chocolate covered Turkish delight on their travels? Thornton’s don’t do it anymore 🥺 and hard to find a nice box for a pressie.

One of my favourites and I never see it out and about now! The last time was in an old-fashioned sweet shop, they had a big jar of it individually wrapped, I was thrilled! So maybe somewhere like Mollies and then put them in a glass jar?

I’ve had a search and though these ones aren’t in the most glamorous box, they do get good reviews compared to other ones I’ve seen!

Posting all these old thread purchases, I've realised something! I'm a sheep 🐑🙄

I got a real cheap one in the debenhams sale and still have it. It has long since gone out of date but I reckon would be ok as are dry ingredients.

If you decide to cook the cinnamon buns replace the yeast all the other ingredients will be fine! I found 2 boxes the other week in the back of the cupboard, first batch didn't rise at all but replaced the yeast on the second box and they were perfect!

paintyhands · 13/11/2024 23:27

Did someone mention the Radio Times offer is back? Does anyone have a link please? I can find 10 issues for £10 but I have a feeling it was less last year.

Me too! 🤣🤣 I'm being very restrained this year!!

Some instore bargains to share! Poundland had some lip oils for £1 each, a mango one and a coconut one. Lots of other beauty and makeup bits very reasonably priced.
They also had electric shock pens for £1.50 which I bought as a fun addition to the girls stockings!

Primark had some fun shaped bath bombs for £1.30. I got a rainbow flag and rubber duck one. They also had bubble bars and shower mousse and shower gels looked similar to lush. One was a similar name and packaging to the snow fairy.

NWnature · 13/11/2024 23:41

@jocktamsonsbairn I am hoping Yeti might do something for Black Friday as have a few things to get. They are amazing though so recommend even if you do have to pay full price.

I am looking for bouji gardening gifts for my dad. Budget up to £200. I usually get him a Whichford pot which he loves but wondering if there is anything else that is a guaranteed hit but that he won’t already have.

Melancholyflower · 13/11/2024 23:45

pinkchampagne1 · 13/11/2024 19:56

I don’t get why my Olaplex gift couldn’t be included when orders that were placed later have had their freebie delivered. I ordered Saturday morning and then shared the offer on this thread as I thought it was such a good deal.
I emailed this morning and said I wanted to cancel my order, which they have now sorted.

That's interesting that they cancelled your order, because they told me they couldn't cancel mine when I emailed yesterday, as it had moved to fulfilment, but it hasn't been despatched yet.

Sorry, shouldn't try and post when I can't sleep at 3am! I notice you want the jar, rather than the sweets. Sorry about that.

Not the fanciest of boxes but B&M do one which is pretty nice they also do bags of mini fry’s Turkish delight which you could get a couple bags and then put the individual mini bars in a nice jar or something
