Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Could you tell me where you found your promotion tab please? I can't find it and AI help is useless.

It never works when I post it as a link but I've copied the text directly from the Amazon website below that should work if copy and pasted.

@Ardagusdubh casual style narrows it down a bit: have a look at https://merchantandmills.com/ and sewhouse7.com, also namedclothing.com and mademywardrobe.com. For pinafores, the Cleo pattern at tillyandthebuttons.com is well regarded. I’d avoid fabric unless very confident- part of the appeal of sewing your own is being able to choose and also, you need the right amount and type for the pattern/machine/skill level etc. If looking into knitting, she might prefer a yarn producer with a sustainability focus such as Garthenor, De Rerum Natura or CaMARose.
alternatively you could take her interest in upcycling and look at something like Elvisandkresse.com (accessories from fire hose) or Upcircle (lovely skincare from waste ingredients- but also a book on how to do this at home). For full disclosure, I have a £10 referral code on that thread.

Some gorgeous stuff there. Do you have a referral code for merchant and mills? Or does anyone know of a discount code. Lovely but expensive!

Ugh, mumsnet are messing up my links again.... the ?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 should not be in that link... that is why it never works.

It's in the screenshot, you'll have to type it in

Hoping someone can help. In the secret Santa draw, I got my lovely niece but I'm totally stuck! She’s early 20s, isn’t into makeup, doesn’t buy any new clothes, all second hand or upcycled (she’s very handy with a sewing machine), not much of a drinker either so all my go to ideas are useless! Any ideas? Budget is £60.

No idea if any good - but does she like music - maybe a decent speaker or Alexa / Google, does she read - the cheaper kindle, is there a subscription she’d like - a magazine online or paper or an experience like a car ride or something ?

candlesandflames · 17/11/2024 19:42

I would also appreciate an o2 code for a friend's new baby if anybody could please kindly PM me one.

Does anyone have an electronic diffuser they can recommend? Teen DD wants some candles for her room. As she can't remember to turn off a light, I'm saying no as she'll just leave the candle burning. A diffuser would at least give her the scents she is after. I know White Company do them but both the item and the scents must be £££ and so DD wouldn't be able to get more when she ran out or fancied a change

I bought this one for my son in 2021. It's still going strong. It looks really striking and gives off a lovely soft light in his room.

So sorry I can't find the OP but whoever now needed Solace earrings, I'd be happy to send on my extra set that I don't need if the offer is no longer running?

Wow that's so kind! If they're still available send me a message and I'll give you the postage money!

Can I ask a question about the wellbeing pods/diffusers/oils please? Every year I’m tempted by these but as a family of asthma / allergy sufferers I normally avoid any kind of scents in the house. However, I’m thinking that as they’re essential oils we might be okay? Does anyone have these who’s an asthma sufferer and know if they’re okay?

My son has asthma and doesn't tolerate air freshener etc.

He has one in his room and is fine with the essential oils. It can also be used without oil to add moisture to dry air caused by heating etc. (house plants like them too!)

Any good deals on Hismile? Late request by the teen who never asks for anything so I'd like to oblige

B&M had some the other day when I was in with my granddaughter. The real thing not a dupe, at £1.99 I believe. Two different flavours. Hope that helps.
