Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I’ve found the code I wrote down before for Freddie's flowers from my EE rewards & it’s still working.

50% off first order + free vase, then 10% off next 4 orders.

Not sure how easy to cancel subscription or pause future boxes though…

Edited

A good few years back they used to give you a free bunch of flowers for referring your friend - and your friend got a free bunch too. I was in a Facebook postnatal group and around 100 members used my code. I had free flowers for almost a year until they banned my account 😭

BoilingHotand50something · 13/11/2024 19:00

@CoffeeAndEnnui thanks very much for the recommendation- that is hopefully the DDs advent calendar sorted for that little haul!

The cinnamon bun kits were ridiculously cheap and essentially idiot proof baking sets. Used to buy them each time the price dropped to a couple of quid and the kids loved making them.

I'm nostalgic for £2.87 giant dairy milk - those were the days

They were amazing and somehow I managed to get 6 for gifts!

Someone put into the referral thread about wild and bloom subscriptions. I did my first one and it was £12.50 for the most beautiful bunch of flowers and a free vase. Next delivery is also £12.50 and then you can cancel online.

Oh interesting thank you. I’ll hop over to the referral thread to see if there’s anyone’s codes I can use.

That’s my kind of referral scheme 😂

I promise I don’t usually post just to bookmark, but for the last 3 threads I forgot to use the right username and MNHQ had to sort it out for me, so I’m doing it now while I remember!

Also - my Sock Shop bargain bamboo socks arrived and are very underwhelming so I’m looking for bargainous alternatives please.

TK Maxx normally do nice socks - I've bought happy socks and others from there before x

looking for marmalade recommendations, my dad loves the stuff, I’m thinking of doing a Fortnum’s order so if anyone can recommend one from there that would be great but happy for other suggestions.

The Lucifer’s marmalade (with chilli and ginger) is to die for. The orange and champagne also really nice and so is the Burlington Breakfast. The Lucifer’s is the best though - just warm and lovely. I don’t think you can go wrong with Fortnum’s tbh, I’ve never been disappointed with a jam or marmalade.

Summerdew · 13/11/2024 19:19

And Olaplex, I ordered Saturday about 1pm, both orders just delivered with bauble gifts. I don’t think they are worth £16, even though they are on Next for that price, I’d say £8. I’m more impressed with the samples which will be great for travel.

Lidlisthebusiness · 13/11/2024 19:25

All these years I've been on these threads, and there's regularly chat about a milk frother. Never taken much notice before, but my 10yr old keeps shaking the milk bottle to froth it up and so I'm thinking he might appreciate one of these! Which one was the one to get please?

Hedjwitch · 13/11/2024 19:27

Agree that Skye candles are fab. Have probably had dozens over the years. Only once did one arrive with a small crack in the glass and I got a replacement immediately with abject apologies. Very good company.

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 13/11/2024 19:32

@Lidlisthebusiness I have this one and it's been a great little gadget! The teens use the balloon whisk bit for mixing protein shakes and use the frother for hot chocolate. Frother it's a rechargeable one too so don't need to worry about batteries AND it's reduced atm 😁 pics added incase link doesn't work

if anyone is looking for hair straighteners Remington have reduced

these to £23.98 or the wide plate to £34.99

HeadOfGregor · 13/11/2024 19:47

Someone asked about wax melts on the last thread. Valentte are really nice, the festive and normal ones, look out for discounts of course.

My current favourite (I've tried a lot!) are Freckleface melts, also soy wax. I get 10 for £10 from my local garden centre but they are sold online. Cranberry marmalade on the go at the moment which smells amazing

MaybeMrs · 13/11/2024 19:48

My Olaplex arrived today with my free gift included. Happy with it. Also got my ELF delivery and received 2 lip oils. No issues with damage as previous poster had x

pinkchampagne1 · 13/11/2024 19:56

I don’t get why my Olaplex gift couldn’t be included when orders that were placed later have had their freebie delivered. I ordered Saturday morning and then shared the offer on this thread as I thought it was such a good deal.
I emailed this morning and said I wanted to cancel my order, which they have now sorted.

@Delahot Just linking from the last thread! What about a 3D card from Me & McQ? Definitely better than anything your sister will come up with Grin

ruralwanderer · 13/11/2024 20:08

There's an extra 20% of at Weird Fish with the code BF20.

Summerdew · 13/11/2024 20:11

I’m sorry @pinkchampagne1 I think this is a problem with the online world, in a shop you’d have got it. I had the same a couple of weeks ago at Sezane, ordered a jumper with a free velvet bag. It was advertised all weekend (I ordered the Friday as soon as the email came out), came with no bag. Apparently items are not packed and sent out in order. It’s really shit.

IggyAce · 13/11/2024 20:15

@Summerdew thanks got the recommendations the lucifer had caught my eye, I’ll probably order biscuits and a couple of other treats to make the delivery charge worth it.

WimbyAce · 13/11/2024 20:15

ClothingTwin · 13/11/2024 18:06

It was crap and a real sheep item a few years ago.
You had to add so much additional stuff to each of the bakedin kits that the cost was exorbitant and they were a major hassle. I am sure than 95% were gifted and chucked in the bin.

The same kits circulated fro birthday gifts until some poor kid got left with them as they expired.

Edited

I got a real cheap one in the debenhams sale and still have it. It has long since gone out of date but I reckon would be ok as are dry ingredients.

Delahot · 13/11/2024 20:18

@MrsWinterby Oh my gosh they are incredible! Better than I hoped for. Thank you so much. 🥰 My sister will be fuming! 😂😂🥳🥳

Georgieporgie29 · 13/11/2024 20:26

I am after 2 big things this Christmas which I imagine I will be struggling to get any reductions on one is a PS5 and the other some Apple headphones (over the head ones) I was wondering if anyone had previously got something like this on a Very new customer deal? I could sign my DH up to one if possible.
