Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

We quite liked the cinnamon buns too! They were so cheap and really easy to pop together quickly. Remember the Christmas hampers drama though - now that had some real tension (will they or won't they come!)

I am after 2 big things this Christmas which I imagine I will be struggling to get any reductions on one is a PS5 and the other some Apple headphones (over the head ones) I was wondering if anyone had previously got something like this on a Very new customer deal? I could sign my DH up to one if possible.

I got an Apple MacBook from Very last Christmas. It was discounted on a Black Friday deal, and with the 20% new customer discount, and with £80+ cashback through Quidco, and with 10 months interest free credit. I had to spread a very patient hour on the phone with them while they figured out how to honour the deal, and I was amazed the cashback worked.

The only caveat is that I read they had removed “electronics” from the offer. I could be wrong though.

And the M&S light up gin!

chocolateisavegetable · 13/11/2024 20:31

Looking back on my Amazon account, the cheapest I got the giant Dairy Milk was £2.39. Now THAT was a bargain!

JackiePaper · 13/11/2024 20:34

Thanks to PP for the P Louise lip glosses got mine today and they look great!
Does anyone know if any codes for New Balance or if they do Black Friday? DD has asked for some 530’s but they’re a £100 everywhere. Don’t know whether to buy before they go oos or hold my nerve for any offers!

Thank you. I think I might hold off until BF and if no deals come up try the Very thing.

I've found that Schuh and Footlocker often have deals on NB. Sign up for newsletters / birthday codes / new account offers. Yes, there may be Black Friday discounts, but IME just get them if they have the size you want in stock. My local footlocker was constantly sold out of size 6 for weeks when the latest ones came out (the gold ones) Also look at Topcashback. Also, ideally she should try some on. They don't suit my feet, but DD finds them comfy.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 13/11/2024 20:49

I remember queuing for my M&S gin!

Can anyone recommend some naice shampoo and conditioner for a teen girl (age 16)? Long straight hair, normal/prone to grease.
Am putting a beauty hamper together and have the skincare/makeup covered, just want to add some decent hair bits.
Thanks you x

BananaWoman999 · 13/11/2024 20:59

Not sure how to reply to the previous poster as the question was in the last thread!

For personalised cut out Christmas (and other occasions!) cards, I buy from an ebay seller (personalisedgiftuk) which I think are quite bargainous given the intricacy of the designs...

One of the designs

Pardon our interruption...

The range colour burst shampoo and conditioner are brilliant. They’re reduced as a set now on boots and Superdrug

My girls love the Body Shop Ginger shampoo and conditioner. Good for greasy hair too, better than the Tea tree one which is designed for greasy hair.

Anyone looking for Japanese/Asian Snacks I had a wander around Oseyo in Manchester Arndale this week. Massive choice of snacks, noodle pots, sweets, drinks. Lots of teens seemingly very excited in there! I also noticed the prices were at least half the price of Kenji (the big noodle pots were £1.10 vs £2.80 in Kenji!)

Definitely worth a look if you kid/teen likes that kind of stuff. They have branches mainly in London and Manchester with more to open nationwide https://oseyo.co.uk/locations/

LePetitMaman · 13/11/2024 21:07

Oooh those hampers. El bastardos.

EvilHerbivore · 13/11/2024 21:10

@WheresTheCoffee
Oh god, the mooing cookie jar 🙈
Nearly had to get international peacekeepers in to calm that one down!

WaitWhatOh · 13/11/2024 21:11

I am in search of a large glass 'sweetie' jar, a requested gift from my grown up DD. she saw one 'somewhere' that had a stem and a lid.

anyone any ideas??? if it could not break the bank that would be fabulous...

HermioneWeasley · 13/11/2024 21:13

Poundstretcher have a half price toy sale on - lots of stocking filler type stuff like toy cars and squishmallows

IlovePond · 13/11/2024 21:13

@Lidlisthebusiness - possibly too cheap for what you are looking for, but I hit a battery operated one for a £1 in IKEA last week, (obviously batteries not included!) Apart from the lack of a stand, it’s identical to one I had years ago but threw away as it got rusty.

roosterroo · 13/11/2024 21:16

Check your Clubcard offers, I had a 15% off clothing which stacked with the current 25%. My £25 jumper dress was £16 😀 used this morning

One at John Lewis by LSA but not very bargainous £50 (search glass bonbon jar) or some “apothecary” ones on eBay for much less (£13)

Scrambledbeans · 13/11/2024 21:24

Sorry to be the completely irritating latecomer to the party, but glossed over PLOUISE chat thinking my kids are too young but have now remembered my goddaughters. I’ve tried to piece together what the deal is and look on the website but can’t figure it out. Anyone have mercy?

weareallqueens · 13/11/2024 21:25

For those looking for trainers, JD sports have a loyalty card that might give you some money back.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 13/11/2024 21:31
