Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I just finished my Advent and Christmas shopping there, so I'm ready to share my favourite secret bargainous eyeshadow palette source Beauty Outlet with this lovely group🤗 I'd start with a search for their Revolution palettes because some of the best discounts are there (use the low-high search option to see palettes from £1.50 and lots for £2-£4) but, if you search under brands, you'll find half-price or better offers for Revolution, Morphe, Stila (only a few items now) and tonnes more.

The £1 printed sheet masks are also fab for stockings. I've used the site repeatedly over the past year and they have been invaluable for cheap and cheerful birthday pressies and goodie bags for my young teen and her friends. The only thing to watch out for is that you are not buying a tester. There are a few which pop up from time to time and it will be specified in the title but I have been caught out by the extra cheapness a couple of times and nearly added before realising!

CoffeeAndEnnui · 13/11/2024 17:21

*Had to edit the post because I originally linked directly to the Revolution page but the site didn't like the link.

I promise I don’t usually post just to bookmark, but for the last 3 threads I forgot to use the right username and MNHQ had to sort it out for me, so I’m doing it now while I remember!

Also - my Sock Shop bargain bamboo socks arrived and are very underwhelming so I’m looking for bargainous alternatives please.

Have you looked at sea salt or crew?

I’ve found the code I wrote down before for Freddie's flowers from my EE rewards & it’s still working.

50% off first order + free vase, then 10% off next 4 orders.

Not sure how easy to cancel subscription or pause future boxes though…

Edited

Very easy to pause. You have to email or call to cancel and then they bombard you with phone calls to try and stop you leaving!

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 13/11/2024 17:35

Thank you for the Joe and Seph’s popcorn code, sorted a few stocking fillers

SweetPeaPods · 13/11/2024 17:38

Just had an email from Clarks with code SAVE20 for 20% off selected women's shoes.

I know it is only a short thread so far but I can’t find it! What was the code please?

Freddie's Flowers mounted what was similar to an harrassment campaign once I cancelled so much so I would never subscribe again. So many calls from so many different numbers every day for weeks. They did the same to dd as well. I ended up emailing to complain and insisting they removed my details from database.

Elpheba · 13/11/2024 17:48

Thanks for the plouise recommendations- the package arrived today and it’s all very swish looking. I ordered the 3 lipglosses for £26 deal and there was a free lip oil in the box too. There will be two happy nieces on Christmas Day!

Serenitesanta · 13/11/2024 17:50

I’d I buy genuine - I’ve looked it up and it gets good reviews but!!!
why are these so cheap, I just wonder if they are real, any thoughts??

It was crap and a real sheep item a few years ago.
You had to add so much additional stuff to each of the bakedin kits that the cost was exorbitant and they were a major hassle. I am sure than 95% were gifted and chucked in the bin.

The same kits circulated fro birthday gifts until some poor kid got left with them as they expired.

IggyAce · 13/11/2024 18:06

looking for marmalade recommendations, my dad loves the stuff, I’m thinking of doing a Fortnum’s order so if anyone can recommend one from there that would be great but happy for other suggestions.

bigchanges1 · 13/11/2024 18:12

@Donsyb @hiredandsqueak Thank you - I think I’ll resist the code & signing-up to Freddie’s Flowers then.

cheesychipsontheoche · 13/11/2024 18:16

The cinnamon bun kits were ridiculously cheap and essentially idiot proof baking sets. Used to buy them each time the price dropped to a couple of quid and the kids loved making them.

I'm nostalgic for £2.87 giant dairy milk - those were the days

You seem determined to piss on people's chips on these threads. Not sure your posts are really in the spirit! 🤷‍♀️

BoilingHotand50something · 13/11/2024 18:21

Yes I would second the advice to steer clear of Freddie’s Flowers. They also harassed me for a long while after I cancelled. I would never use them again.

TheCrow · 13/11/2024 18:23

Got my ELF parcel today- I ordered two lip oils and received one lip oil and one liquid eyeliner. They arrived in a thick envelope so the cardboard packaging on both items was damaged at the bottom meaning I can't gift either of them. I didnt get an order confirmation and there's nothing in the orders section on the app either so i cant check the order. I've contacted them using the form on the app so I'll see what they come back with!

also intrigued!!

And me. I assumed it was a typo but maybe not.

psuedocream3 · 13/11/2024 18:32

@Serenitesanta Onbuy is counterfeit goods usually, it's a marketplace like aliexpress. I'm sure they are £18 and on 3 for 2 on Sephora and probably a code that works with them.

I disagree! We reordered the cinnamon bun kit several times, my teen DD loved them! They were lovely and good value!

Stardustmoon · 13/11/2024 18:52

Someone put into the referral thread about wild and bloom subscriptions. I did my first one and it was £12.50 for the most beautiful bunch of flowers and a free vase. Next delivery is also £12.50 and then you can cancel online.

Stardustmoon · 13/11/2024 18:52

Bloom and wild! 🙈🙈
