Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks @Reastie loving the new thread name 🤣🤣 does anyone have an Argos code I could use? Got £180 in my basket and can’t bring myself to checkout 🫣🤣😩

Waffles21 · 09/11/2024 06:34

👏👏👏 funniest thread title ever, thanks Reastie 🤣. Also thanks to whoever posted the love hearts code, I tried for them last year but didn’t get them, all secured and winging their way to me this year!

sittingonacornflake · 09/11/2024 07:07

This weekend at whistlefish 18 Christmas cards for £10.

My Isle of Skye candles reed diffuser arrived yesterday. It was £9.60 delivered using a referral code. It smells amazing and says it will last ten weeks. Does anybody know if you can use a referral code again on a different email address?

I am also after an Argos voucher if anybody has one I would be very grateful please. Currently a £40 spend but, as is always the case, I do have other things to buy so that can increase.

Muddyandwet · 09/11/2024 07:22

I ordered one of the tiny trees from Bloom and Wild for a housebound friend with mobility issues. Using someone's referral code, it came to a very reasonable £19 including postage.

I've popped my referral code on the referral thread in case anyone's interested.

Morning All! Last year someone linked a list of bargain fresh food hampers. Piglets Pantry was one of them but I can't remember the others. It was so helpful and I ordered quite a few for gifts. If this poster is around still pleaseee will you do it again 🙏🏽. Also another poster, I think possibly @fishfingersandchipsagain, linked some bargain gift hampers, Cartwright and Butler was definitely one of them and I had some amazing bargain gift hampers from there! So @fishfingersandchipsagain, or anyone, if you see any bargainous hampers around please post them. Thanks 🙏🏽
Just to add I ordered the beer and snack hamper from Laithwaites and was very very disappointed. It was just items in a cardboard box. Nothing hamperish about it. And my address label stuck on the top. Not a hamper at all.

whoknows1230 · 09/11/2024 07:35

Thanks for the new thread @Reastie.

Has anyone seen Estée Lauder Beautiful body lotion at a reasonable price? Boots show it at £37.50 instead of £50 but it’s out of stock

GreatFinch · 09/11/2024 07:43

Can anyone recommend a jewellery cleaner please?

and thanks Reastie

£5 bonus if you spend £25 or more at boots, via Quidco. You need to opt in and it only has 7,500 opt ins. I haven’t read all the t&c’s but might be a nice little boost. Xx

TheGirlWhoLived · 09/11/2024 07:56

I tried that £10 Argos code and it didn’t work at all! Possibly user error tho 😂

And I’ve just seen they are doing 10% cash back for a star gift as well!

If anyone is looking for a nice suprise for a man in their life, I've just ordered this. Gorgeous luxury brand. At £33, this is a good £20 cheaper than I can find it anywhere else. Free delivered too and dispatched really quickly. I'm chuffed as it feels like a really premium suprise for a very reasonable price. It's from Escentual

I’m on the lookout for a reasonably priced (less than £25) tea advent calendar if anyone has any recommendations? Thanks

okayhescereal · 09/11/2024 08:27

Morrisons had some bargain half priced toys in yesterday including huge hot wheels sets and Barbie.

I love Isle of Skye candles - can I ask (if you’ve not already done so) that you stick your referral code on the relevant board (see below)? I didn’t know they did referral discounts so if you post your link there I will try to use it!

I really recommend the Bird and Blend one. Their tea is fresh, so tastes of something...it's £38 but if you sign up, you get £5 off your first purchase.
Annoying when someone ignores your budget, but once you taste the difference the price is kind of justified.

Lego Stitch is £44 in Argos at the moment which is at the lower end of what it's been.

YeahWellWhyNot · 09/11/2024 09:01

Argos have cancelled my DJ mixer order..now out of stock on Amazon too. Aargh.

FilthyforFirth · 09/11/2024 09:16

My unidays just popped up with a 20% discount of Nike for full price items. I dont need anything so happy to PM to someone in need!

Thank you. It’s for my son and he already likes B&B so I wasn’t sure whether to get him this because he likes it or get him something else new! This helps though - thank you!

CalliopePlantain · 09/11/2024 09:19

I got the DJ mixer from smyths last year for £30 on their Black Friday deal - might be worth checking for it this year

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 09/11/2024 09:25

I've been able to order the DJ mixer from the next town over. Happy to send on to anyone who needs it if the order doesn't get cancelled.
