Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Sorry if this has been posted already but this is the last day to get gift cards on offer at Tesco if anyone is interested.
https://www.playpennies.com/gift-ideas/10-off-selected-gift-cards-at-tesco-202137

I got two Nike ones saving me £20. Did two separate transactions of £90. The gift cards had a value of £100 each.

There's a pitter patter pet guinea pig for £9.60 (normally £14) on the M&S website. For whoever it was who wanted guinea pig pets! This one moves

Hope the link works, a Gabbys dollhouse ukulele, £5, down from £30 at argos. No idea if its any good, but I've just ordered for our Gabby mad almost 3 year old and hopefully picking it up tomorrow morning

Ooft, just checked the size, its only 13cm, ah well, he'll still like it I reckon!

My adult ds has just discovered audio books, he doesn't read normally, I have found the gift subscription on Audible. Is there any way of getting it cheaper

Doesn’t help with audible and it’s a bit of admin faff, but most libraries now do audiobooks you can borrow for free online.
i had to sign up through our council website and fill in a few forms, but then there’s lots of choices of books to borrow without the subscription fee.
i found out about this through a yoto group as some people were able to use the downloads for Make Your Own cards (not legally okay, but possible) - our council (Birmingham) uses a streaming service not a download though, so can’t be used for that purpose.

I've just got the bridal beauty mini box. Wish I hadn't dithered and ordered the more expensive ones when still available! Still, hoping for a couple of gems in there!

I have sent you a pm. I got the VIP festival edit beauty bag (someone posted a photo on last thread). Unfortunately nothing in there I want or need.

I usually follow these threads religiously every year and have a good chunk of buying done by now but struggling for time this year!

I hope it's ok to ask here (please tell me if not) but does anyone have intel on the cheapest way to buy a new iPad? Dd wants the regular sized (10.9 inch) iPad in pink. Are there ever any Black Friday deals floating around or is it one of those things that aren't ever discounted? Not sure if I should just bite the bullet and buy one full price if that's the case.

IlovePond · 09/11/2024 17:04

The Ted Baker a/c at Boots is reduced to £36.80, with double Advantage points, plus you can go via TCB.

IlovePond · 09/11/2024 17:06

@YorkshireFelix - not money off, but last year for BF, Apple gave money off vouchers against future purchases with certain items such as iPads.

I expect that there will be a few £20 off or so offers from the likes of Amazon or Curry’s on Apple products, but wouldn’t expect more than that. No harm in waiting until BF to find out!

YorkshireFelix · 09/11/2024 17:17

Thanks @IlovePond, I thought that might be the case. I know there's sometimes £X off a spend over a certain amount on Argos etc so will keep an eye out for something like that!

Could maybe look at Very & see if there’s a % off for new customers? Not sure how their prices compare though…

ImageMirror · 09/11/2024 17:51

I went to the Lindt shop today, it was at an outlet village and they were doing 20% off 2 items, 30% off 3 items etc. they also were doing printed ribbons for the chocolate teddy bears, £1 and could be personalised with anything in lovely gold writing.

Would anyone happen to have a discount code for Runderwear?

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/11/2024 17:55

Oo that’s even better @Chocolatecakewithsprinkles

@LostMyRubySlippers can you pm me too please 🙏

Thelifeofawife · 09/11/2024 18:03

@YorkshireFelix There was a recent Very deal but not sure if it’s still on. It’s still worth looking there though as they do discounts for new customers as well, and you can go through TopCashback

picnicfuntimes · 09/11/2024 18:04

Thank you to those who mentioned the Wicked colour changing lip balm and hi-smile flavoured toothpaste - didn’t know that even existed. I just popped to my nearest Superdrug expecting to be disappointed - but they had both. Great stocking fillers for my mint-disliking, musical-living teen.

Filterphobia · 09/11/2024 18:04

@YorkshireFelix I bought the 2022 iPad on Very a couple of weeks back as someone posted a £30 off code on here so it came down to £280. I’ve just checked and the pink one isn’t reduced unfortunately.

HoHoJ0 · 09/11/2024 18:09

@fishfingersandchipsagain would you mind linking the home bargains posca dupes please. I really can’t find them for some reason!

Just to update I received my soccer03/Soccer04 order today - really great quality does look a little small but hopefully will still fit nephew!! 🤞🤞🤞 thanks to the original poster that suggested the site, it saved me £30 odd quid!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Myattention · 09/11/2024 18:16

Has anyone come across any offers at all - looking at to buy an iPhone outright?

GoodIsGoodEnough · 09/11/2024 18:26

Thanks @Elphaba17 - I used the code and got the free sample too. Been wanting to try Olaplex so happy with that! Little treat to myself!

TK Maxx had a decent sized four pack of Cath Kidston hand creams for £10. Great for splitting up as Christmas gifts.

I should had said Copic rather than Posca, but more realistically “blendable ink, dual tipped markers”

Dead cheap, but DS will love them for zentangles.

My daughter got one for uni when they did one of their offer days on Amazon - it was pink and about £30 off - just checked and it was the end of July Offer of the Day - so they may discount them abit near Black Friday. she paid £35 less than the model currently is on Apple if that helps.
