Off to the shops this morning to pick up something for tomorrows dinner. What do you eat for dinner on New Years day?

I'd like to do roast lamb but lamb is so expensive!

I had big plans for a lovely roast with all the family coming over. As it happens I got absolutely smashed last night and I'm so hungover I haven't made it far from the couch. My son has gone to get us all a kfc. Ohhh I can't wait

I’m Scottish so it’s steak pie

chicken and chips with a bit of salad and a piece so I can make a butty

I'm loving all the Scots on here!

KeepingTheWaterOut · 01/01/2023 18:27

Steak pie. (I'm Scottish)

We had our special meal last night so we are having Indian takeaway tonight - so in need of spicy food!

Coldbit · 01/01/2023 19:06

I'm English but live in Scotland so it has to be steak pie here. Just made and eaten a massive one, the healthy eating can start another day, I have no regrets 😀

We were away for New Year so had a seafront cafe lunch before returning home. They only served brunch today so I had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Delicious.

I barely manage the roast most Christmas days as I’m normally working so definitely not doing one New Years Day!

Rainbowlights · 01/01/2023 19:20

Steak Pie dinner, going with Scottish tradition

Blueberrycreampie · 01/01/2023 19:39

Trifle was great! I could have whipped the cream a little thicker but OM.G the combo of double cream and brandy sauce was very nice!

My local supermarkets are open tomorrow (scotland)

Wow really? I'm also in Scotland and none are ever open round me on the 1st. It's definitely a holiday here!

dementedpixie · 01/01/2023 21:16

I'm in North Lanarkshire and asda and tesco and maybe even Morrisons were open today. We went to asda for bread

tillyandmilly · 01/01/2023 22:23

We planned a special meal and then I suffered a mild concussion yesterday and could only stomach beans on toast. It was actually wonderful, hadn’t had it for ages and was just perfect!

AdoraBell · 01/01/2023 22:57

Hope you recover well Tempyname

Theneverendingdrama · 02/01/2023 07:31

@Blueberrycreampie a bad headache, it felt sort of sinus-y but cleared up thankfully. Glad you enjoyed the trifle. Did you take a pic of it?

Thanks cinders! I absolutely love pie and am going to attempt to make one of these before healthy eating plan kicks in at the weekend.

@Theneverendingdrama sorry to hear that and glad you're ok! I didn't take a photo but my OH did - I'll see if it's good enough!
