Are Evri trying to ruin Christmas

Slightly OTT (and lighthearted) but I wish online retailers would stop using this company. I have seven orders with various companies and all the deliveries are delayed. Some over two weeks late so likely I’m going to have my order cancelled.

Why why why are they still in business? Where do the missing packages go?

Oh god don’t get me started with ‘Evri/Hermes’ . I have luckily got all my parcels now that were delayed by up to two weeks, some sadly were ‘lost’ in transit so had a refund from retailer . Some were out for delivery with delivery expected time that same day but then went backwards and were then ‘lost’ in transit … not suspicious at all. Ordered a Christmas tree that they also managed to loose, then claimed the retailer never sent it to them even though there was tracking and was at the depot lol

I try to avoid buying from companies who use Evri. I did however order and Evri were delivering so I sent it to a parcel click and collect shop which arrived before it should have.

my area is terrible for Evri

I have never had a problem with EVRI. I would say XDP are the most appalling even worse than DPD.

Same.

They are great for me.

Luckily I've never had problems

Welpthereitis · 09/12/2022 11:55

Evri have lost 6 of my parcels this month, I have received ones I Order from dpd rm and yodel, when I seen my order has been sent by Evri I want to cry

IrmaGord · 09/12/2022 11:58

Evri used to be brilliant in my area, but they seem to be using temporary drivers atm and so far in the last month, I've had about 7 parcels delayed. 3 of them were supposed to next day delivery from ASOS and ASOS customer services couldn't give a shiny shite either.

It would have been quicker for me to go and collect them, as both ASOS and Evri have massive warehouses just down the road. I wish companies would tell you who they're using to deliver before they place the order, because I wouldn't bother ordering if they using Evri.

Delandra · 09/12/2022 11:59

Don’t be tempted to try InPost. You’re likely to either get someone else’s parcel or the item will disappear into a huge black hole.

WimbyAce · 09/12/2022 12:02

Think I must be lucky with Evri. The other day they were meant to deliver and didn't get any updates all day but it did arrive 1st thing the next day so that wasn't too bad.

Verbena17 · 09/12/2022 12:10

Whilst they may be a pretty unethical (few rights for employees) employer, we have never a single issue with their deliveries…but our town’s courier is brilliant!
Perhaps it’s your local courier, not being quite as organised as they could be?

Barney60 · 09/12/2022 12:15

Evri, are fabulous here, i dont have a printer so he prints return labels, calls with parcels mostly when he knows im in, rather than leave outside, always helpful, closes my big gate behind him.
Now dont get me started on Royal mail-useless...

CellophaneFlower · 09/12/2022 12:19

Never had any issues with Hermes/Evri, and 90% of my deliveries are by them.

I do get the fear when I see Yodel though and don't expect to receive my item. Only last week did they manage to "lose" a microscooter. Microscooter were great about it and sent replacement through DPD. Their lack of confidence in their own choice of courier company is both telling and bizarre.

Cannot begin to imagine the premiums Yodel must pay on their insurance.

ItWasntMyFault · 09/12/2022 12:33

We have a couple of Evri delivery ladies near us that are brilliant. If I'm not at home they know to come and leave the parcel by the side door inside the garden. I can't fault them.

Can you explain why they are an unethical employer and the employee rights they don’t comply with?

I haven't had any major issues with Evri, my main bugbear is they tend to chuck my parcels over my side gate and not put a card through. I've stumbled across a missing, rain soaked parcel by accident in my side alley several times!
So for those who have missing parcels that have been 'delivered' check bins, side gates, anywhere they might have hidden or thrown it.

I have to agree with this. My old Hermes man left 1 behind my bin once, no card. Found it 3 days later, stinking of fox pee. So bad was the stench, I had to leave it outside and return it unopened. He also used to put them inside my wheelie bin sometimes, quite risky if just prior to collection day.

The biggest mistake you can make with Christmas is to wait until December to order gifts.

Its peak problem for deliveries.

Start shopping earlier to spread the cost and to take the strain off services and to save yourself the stress of deliveries being delayed or not turning up as expected.

I struggle to have sympathy for people who haven't grasped that its unrealistic to expect perfect service in December. It happens every single dam year as these companies are shit employers and don't have enough staff and there aren't better alternatives at the same cheap cost.

I had a package delivered by Yodel, well they CLAIMED and honestly it would but funny if not so infuriating.

Me: Hi, it says my package is delivered but I dont have it.
Yodel: GPS tracking says it was delivered to you at insert date/time
Me: but I dont have it
Yodel: someone in your house must have it, please check with all occupents
Me: I'm pretty certain my baby and cat are not harboring swimsuits from me
Yodel: GPS tracking says you have recieved it, please check with neighbors
Me: I dont have it, the neighbor doesn't either
Yodel: attaches picture please see photographic proof of delivery
Me: erm... thats not my house
Yodel: GPS says it is your house
Me: thats not even any house on my street attaches photo of my house and street
Yodel: check your neighbor
Me: its not my house or my neighbor or my street
Yodel: GPS says its your house, please check again
Me: check what I live in a sandstone terrace on a hill with steps and s soild not a brick detached on the flat with door mat and big stain glass window front... I dont need to 'check' my house isn't a brick detached house
Yodel: we have proof we delivered to you, see photo
Me: but thats NOT my house
Yodel: GPS says it was delivered to your address, see photo
ME: ITS NOT MY HOUSE
Yodel: maybe have a walk around and look for it
Me: I have and it's not even my street
Yodel: we delivered your package, we have GPS and photo proof.
Me: you delivered a package but not to ME.
Yodel: GPS says it was delivered to you.

Honestly it went on for 3 weeks... I STILL have no idea who they delivered to but its not me, I ended up getting a refund by disputing at the point of sale because even with proof that that was not my house they wouldnt accept they posted to the wrong place. I litrally sent photos, street view, google map, GPS co-ordinates and everything and they STILL wouldnt accept that I didnt live in the clearly wrong photo they had.

The funniest part is I live in number 5 and you can clearly see whatever house they delivered to in the photo had a number 11 on the door (and is not the type of house in my area).

So I doubt they pay out on insurance since they just deny, deny, deny even when confronted with proof.

Rainbunny · 09/12/2022 13:06

I used to hate Evri (or Hermes as they were known) with the power of thousand suns!

Then something changed radically in my area for some reason and they've been great over the past year. In fact they are the most relaible delivery service in my area now, I also have the same Evri delivery guy everytime and I know he works long hours right now. He actually delivered an item last night at 8pm which was supposed to arrive by 3pm and he was really apologetic and explained they're really busy and he's working 15 hour days currently - I believe him.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 09/12/2022 13:07

My Evri guy is amazing!!

Royal Mail on the other have about 5 parcels stored for me god knows where…

MsSquiz · 09/12/2022 13:09

My Evri courier is great, even down to not knocking or ringing the bell when the blinds are shut because he knows the baby will be napping! And when I was pregnant he happily brought large parcels inside the hallway for me.

My Yodel courier is the vanishing man! He brings our Gousto box, rings the doorbell and has disappeared without a trace by the time you get to the door! I don't think I've ever seen him!

Uninterestedfamily · 09/12/2022 13:10

I've just had a next day delivery through them and it was fine.

However, in the last few days there have been 2 separate findings in my county of bags and bags of Evri parcels dumped in woodland.

Greatbiggoldfish · 09/12/2022 13:15

Evri here are very good - but when the regular delivery guy goes on holiday it’s another story

catwithflowers · 09/12/2022 13:18

Our Royal Mail postie is brilliant. We get so many parcels and he always leaves them in a safe place where they can't get rained on. He's lovely with our dogs, is always cheerful. Thank you Keith, you are definitely getting a Christmas present from us this year 🎄 🎁

Pythonese · 09/12/2022 13:18

Are Evri trying to ruin Christmas : no, but the CWU most certainly are !.

PineappleWilson · 09/12/2022 13:19

Evri are getting parcels to deliver because of the Royal Mail strikes so they're focusing on current deliveries and not the backlog.

healthadvice123 · 09/12/2022 13:20

My evri have been fine , royal mail ones though all over the place
