Are Evri trying to ruin Christmas

Slightly OTT (and lighthearted) but I wish online retailers would stop using this company. I have seven orders with various companies and all the deliveries are delayed. Some over two weeks late so likely I’m going to have my order cancelled.

Why why why are they still in business? Where do the missing packages go?

EVRI where I am is great, Royal Mail on the other hand are shocking. The problem is because RM have decided to strike most of December retailers are shifting to the courier companies. The impact of the RM strikes has been signposted since they announced it. You are better off heading to the shops than expecting a normal service for any logistics parcel company at the moment.

I've never had a problem with evri. Everything arrives, on time and with lots of communication about when they are coming. I don't know how we have hit the evri jackpot but I hope it lasts.

Suzi888 · 09/12/2022 11:00

Yep. Thank goodness mine is only a few furry diaries from Claire’s.

Kanaloa · 09/12/2022 11:01

I’ve been waiting for a delivery with them for almost two weeks 😔 I don’t know what to do. It’s an item I can’t get anywhere in store, and if I cancel/refund it now I won’t be able to order it in again. I’ve never used them before and I would never use them again after this.

Evri are really good here, got my M&S parcel in two days

woodhill · 09/12/2022 11:02

Definitely contact John Lewis as I had a delay with my parcel with Evri

They were excellent and my parcel arrived the next day

wewishyouamerrychristmas · 09/12/2022 11:04

Our service is brilliant. Our Evri driver knows if I am not home where to leave parcels. He also knows if I've had something delivered to work and them place is closed he will deliver to my house. He gives his customers his mobile number so o keep in touch. He's really very good. I placed an order with a Evri as the courier and it's come in 3 days. A next parcel came in a day. Both this week.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/12/2022 11:05

The local couriers can be great, but I think the depot staff just don't care. They don't have to face the customers and don't care how they treat the parcels or what happens to them.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/12/2022 11:08

Our local Evri people live in the village so know everyone and can drop parcels off at family down the road etc! Our posties are great too, I think if you have regular people doing the rounds they get to know the people, it's the temporary cover that throws it out.

woodhill · 09/12/2022 11:09

Yes I definitely think it was the depot not the delivery courier

Bad weather on 30th November then no updates for a week🤔

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/12/2022 11:11

I don’t think anyone is trying to ruin Christmas. The volume of parcels this year seems unprecedented and they are struggling to recruit enough staff to deliver them. We can all help by ordering less online and supporting our local high streets where possible.

The service from Evri, like every other delivery company is so variable in different parts of the country it seems

our local Evri courier is great.

I dropped 3 parcels off at our local drop off point on Wednesday and 2 have already been delivered to different parts of England - I’m very happy with the service provided by Evri at the moment.

it’s Royal Mail that I’ve got parcels stuck with, I have no idea when I might see them. Salopettes aren’t needed until the middle of January and if the Royal Mint delivery does arrive before Christmas it’s not the end of the world. Neither of these things could have been bought in my home town.

Kanaloa · 09/12/2022 11:14

Surely if the problem is that they are so overwhelmed with online orders and want us all to shop in store, the answer isn’t to take our money, say it will be delivered in 2-3 days, then blank us?

Some places don’t do online delivery and I’m fine with that. But if they say they do it then take my money, I think it’s reasonable to expect a certain level of service.

nancydroo · 09/12/2022 11:17

They're shit. They've had my parcel since Black Friday and it's not been delivered. See fb site. Hundreds of people are in the same boat. Apparently Evri dumped massive amount of parcels in Kent woods. Tossers

shinynewapple22 · 09/12/2022 11:19

I have no problems with my local Evri courier either . It probably helps that there is nearly always someone in to receive the parcels .

Muchtoomuchtodo · 09/12/2022 11:22

@Kanaloa retailers do usually say on their websites which courier they use to allow their customers an element of choice before making an online order.

I bought parcel delivery from Evri and they delivered as promised. I used the parcel2go website and they have added information about the current status of each company to help customers make an informed choice.

RaraRachael · 09/12/2022 11:23

I can't speak highly enough of my Evri delivery man - always delivers on time, happy and cheerful - never had an issue at all,

I guess I made my choice on them saying it would be delivered in 2-3 working days. I presumed that they were telling the truth basically.

But I was more responding to the comment that it’s because they are overwhelmed with deliveries. If they’re so overwhelmed they should make that clear. ‘Yes, we do online delivery but it’s very poor service and we can’t guarantee when or if your order will arrive. So…’

TheOrigRights · 09/12/2022 11:29

I think it's down to your local driver. Mine is fab. I see him around the village when I'm out running, give him a wave. He knows I work out the back in my garden office and we have a very tiny chat if he's got time when delivering my parcels.

tartlets · 09/12/2022 11:33

we don't have a local evri courier any more- they sacked him apparently, so now our parcels get delivered to the nearest village with a courier and they 'hope they get a chance to get them to me' before Christmas...

Yodel on the other hand insist on delivering my parcels 6 miles away to a house that used to have the same name 12 years ago, I'm on first name terms with the lady that now lives there and she's lovely about it but it's wearing thin!

Ohjustboreoff · 09/12/2022 11:36

Evri are terrible. I ordered from Debenhams and they use Evri. Tried tracking my parcel the tracking said it hadn't moved since 25th November so a few days ago I start emailing. Evri said please wait but I checked again yesterday and tracking said it was delivered on 25th November which is a blatant lie!
Trying to get my money back will be a right bind!!!

JaninaDuszejko · 09/12/2022 11:37

Evri are fine round here.

Yesterday the postman delivered a parcel, DH said 'the one underneath is for us as well'. It had our name and was from a hamper company local to my Mum, she always sends us a hamper from there each year. Oh no says the postman, it's for number 40 not you. So off up the street he went to No 40, delivered it, they saw our name (thankfully we are friends) and 10 minutes later delivered it back to us!

lemmein · 09/12/2022 11:39

I post a lot through Evri and have never had any issues until the last few weeks - which is to expected I suppose with the strikes/Black Friday/Xmas.

Normally everything I send is delivered the next day and tracked all the way.

chocolateasaltyballs22 · 09/12/2022 11:40

I have a 3 week old order in an Evri black hole. But they managed to deliver an order from 3 days ago this morning. Makes no sense whatsoever. Now trying to get a refund from 3 week old order. V frustrating.

Hadjab · 09/12/2022 11:45

My Evri courier is great - she knows where to leave parcels safely. She's now got into the habit of telling me when she's going on holiday, because when she's not working, it all goes to shit.

mam0918 · 09/12/2022 11:49

Theres an EVRi wearhouse down the road from me, its currently full to bursting point with packages on the floor and all over some all squished and in puddles etc... Its become quite a viral social media tourist spot (people are just walking in and wandering around) with people coming to take photos of the haphazzard over crowded warehouse where sad abused packages go to die.

Apparently the story is Evri took on extra packages to help with the royal mail strikes and bit off far more than they could chew.

Its strange though as the stuff I ordered on black friday with EVRi hasn't shown up but something I ordered on wednesday with EVRi arrived yesterday so less than 24 hours. Both ordered from the same company (and its not the companies fault they posted within hours both time but package 1 is trapped in the overcrowded depo somewhere).

So it seams new stuff is getting through fine its the backlogged depo that they just dont know where to start with.

It also seem the Evri dropoff and pick ups are running fine too as Vinted stuff seems to be getting through fine.
