@TheNoonBell

"I got my other half a reproduction WW2 german helmet. Something he has always wanted as he is into history."

…..a nazi helmet, then?"

Yes. What's your point? Doesn't make her DP a nazi sympathiser. Not every German soldier believed in the ideals, or killing Jews etc. A lot were conscripted and a lotm"volunteered".

German wehrmacht wasn't a one dimensional fighting force full of men wanting to kill Jews and take over the world...
I was hoping that someone would respond to this. Some posters seem to relish opportunities to try to antagonise others! Noon Bell’s little jibe- so silly and irrelevant to this thread. But any chance to get a dig in, I guess!

@ mylittlepea
Oh no! 😳🤮
If my OH ever asked for that I'd be off. Horrible horrible. Luckily, he knows never to mention it.

*@Mylittlepea. Forgot the capital 'M'.

Mine got a handmade wooden beer crate with a handle and a bottle cap remover thingy. (I don’t drink beer. Is that what it’s called? - hopeless.) He likes it, anyway. We’re in Aus, so beer is a thing and Christmas is nearly done.

Karcher attachment?

LeeBowman · 25/12/2021 05:26

This is the first year I've not got DH anything. I wanted to get him a small thing for 'under the Christmas tree' but couldn't think of anything. Blank !
I don't think it's the end of the world !

Hope you all have a good day !!!

meysey · 25/12/2021 06:32

Thanks everyone. I woke up stupidly early on Xmas Day and was worrying about presents, read all the great ideas and just ordered DH an urban foraging walk. I’d already got him something but this is an excellent addition.

Jack80 · 25/12/2021 06:50

We just get something for each other we see, I have got some dr martens this year and he got some Ugg boots

natlie77 · 25/12/2021 07:07

I got my 71 year old dad a wok, and i know he to will be made up. He was stuffing corchettes the other day.

rb124 · 25/12/2021 09:21

For a second, I thought DP meant something else - ooooerr missus as Frankie Howerd would have said! My GF and I tend to buy small sort of jokey gifts, but I wouldn't dare get knickers etc as I'm bound to get the size wrong! An ex used to work in a large shop and got sick of guys coming in and saying "she's about this big" holding up their hands to indicate cup or hip size.

Some suggestions:

Ooni
Hot tub
Pressure washer
Cooking/painting/pottery voucher
Gym membership
Spa day/weekend
Michelin restaurant voucher
Coffee subscription (or tea, magazines etc)
Massage/reflexology/indian head massage voucher
Weekend away

Just wanted to say thanks to all who gave me ideas. He is so hard to buy for that I think I had sort of given up hope. Each year he ends up with not much and I always feel bad so wanted to get him something nice for a change.
DS gave him a jumper, hat and watch and I gave him a dutch oven and a tile. He loved them all. Thanks so much!

Dutch Oven made be chuckle. But then I used to read Viz magazine.

justhavingmysay · 26/12/2021 11:38

We stopped buying gifts for each other years ago. We buy things we like when we see them. I buy for the grandchildren and grown up daughter and her partner and thats it.
