FazedNotPhased · 24/12/2021 18:44

Oh my god a Nazi helmet and a DH who might dress up in it on Christmas Day

I only came on here for tips for difficult to buy for relatives, fuckkkk me.

Zoejj77 · 24/12/2021 18:56

Ordered my husband the best Christmas present ever - in terms of he really wants the thing and wont be expecting it- and it hasn’t arrived. Feels like the best worst gift I’ve ever given now

Hawkins001 · 24/12/2021 19:00

For me, it's

£ For my factory unit or base.
Then
Socks,
Thermals
Bath items
Various foods
Magic the gathering cards or commander decks
A DSLR camera, preferably nikion or Canon
Empty metal tins for my cards

PassiveAggressive · 24/12/2021 19:01

My DH is the same. I now always buy him an ‘experience’. It’s monster truck driving this year. He’ll love it.

MrsDrRoss · 24/12/2021 19:01

I get my husband to buy his own gifts. He gets what he wants and not some useless present, and I buy things for him to give me. It works. Next time tell him this but maybe give him a budget unless you both can get whatever you want.

lightisnotwhite · 24/12/2021 19:23

NRTT but I’m not sure interests help much.
Both my dad and DH are heavily into their interests but they literally gave every bit of shit associated with them. They have kit, proper expensive kit, memorabilia, jokey presents, shaped chocolate, Everything. So dull for them getting shit though need just because it had some reference to said hobby.

Apparently you need to pick for the type of person.
A person that likes to be in control
A person that likes names and “ nice” gifts
A sentimental, personal person.

CanadianJohn · 24/12/2021 19:28

I quite literally don't want anything. My biggest pleasure in my declining year is de-cluttering, or maybe it's Swedish-style death-cleaning. I have more clothes than I will ever wear.

Fortunately, my wife feels the same way.

NalPolishRemover · 24/12/2021 19:36

I know @FazedNotPhased it's disturbing on all levels!

SophieSellerman · 24/12/2021 19:48

I have bought mine underwear (for myself).

Mylittlepea · 24/12/2021 19:58

Handwritten voucher for a blow job? Apologies for not RTFT if it’s been mentioned already, had a few wines🤣.

But it’s free, he’ll love it and all done in 10 mins🤣

DimplesToadfoot · 24/12/2021 20:21

One year a friend asked me what I wanted, I didn't know so didn't give an answer. She bought me a membership to The Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society 🤣

It's been a talking point for years and I'm only sorry that I didn't think of it first :-) I totally recommend.

JonSnowIsALoser · 24/12/2021 20:22

You can always do this...

Well that's it, no gift for DH
CrankyFrankie · 24/12/2021 20:29

My husband is the impossible too! He hates waste/tat/anything for the sake of it. He is vv specific with taste in eg clothes plus he is vv tall and broad but v slim so even if you get the style right, the strong chances are that it won’t fit. He refuses to even countenance anything he doesn’t already have, and we’re talking basic stuff like wallet, PJs, etc! He is a lovely soul but quite miserable when it comes down to it 🤣 fortunately he is a boozehound. Every year he graciously wears his slippers down in the run-up to Christmas, so he does at least time it right to get slippers ! This year also some pants (but I know they won’t fit), a book he probably won’t like or read, usually some liquorice and root beer, whisky or rum and if the gods are really smiling down I can refill his aftershave! He’d always be up for a hotel/city break, but with small kids (oh and a pandemic), that’s not really something I can ‘surprise’ him with these days. Oh and I happened to find some ‘Brexshit’ bog roll with Bojo Pfeffle’s face on that he might enjoy wiping his @rse on too.

USaYwHatNow · 24/12/2021 20:33

We had a holiday booked (cancelled thanks to covid) so instead bought theatre tickets (also cancelled due to covid). So nowww we have made a game out of it. £20 limit, one shop only, random present. It ended up quite fun actually 😂

Mermaid67 · 24/12/2021 20:37

@TempNameChangexx

To everyone: Christmas gifts aren't compulsory, adults shouldn't have to be bought a gift!!

In our family we don't really do Christmas pressies unless you happen to see something that one of the others might like - none of this nonsense about buying something just because "they have to have something to open on Christmas Day"...

I probably buy my family more gifts randomly during the year than I ever would have done if we still did the apparently obligatory Christmas presents.

Do a £50 online donation to your local foodbank and give something to someone who really needs it !!

I don’t think it’s nonsense! I love to give and receive presents with my family, including adults
Wife2b · 24/12/2021 20:52

Lame excuse OP. If this was the other way round people would be up on arms about how selfish OH is for not buying a gift.

VanillaAndOrange · 24/12/2021 21:04
@secretrugbyfan I challenge you to find a present for my DF, and I genuinely mean it I am stuck. If you can think of something you'll be my saviour.
He has said no clothes, socks, gloves, scarves hats etc as he has more than he can use/wear, his only hobby is carp fishing which he does less and less and has more equipment than a professional would need, he doesn't read books, he won't do puzzles, he doesn't really drink, he's not a foodie, we have given him lots of experience days he only likes the flying ones and has done them all several times over, he drives but doesn't like it, automatic only and wouldn't enjoy track days etc. He doesn't listen to music, he doesn't use or want any tech. He enjoys walking but has bought himself new boots etc in the last few months. He doesn't garden other than obligatory lawn mowing enough which he grumbles about. He doesn't like novelty things that you might but in desperation best grandad mugs etc. When you ask him, he says he doesn't want anything, but we've bought my mum lovely presents, I know she'll enjoy and I just can't face not giving him anything!
Metal "keep cool" water bottle
Framed print of a place he loves walking or old illustration of fish or aircraft
DVD of one of the above

@Tinseltrauma

Idea pinched from here - gift card for the Ordnance survey mapping app

shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/apps/os-maps-subscriptions/

@Tinseltrauma I could kiss you.

Great idea!

angela99999 · 24/12/2021 21:46

My DH doesn't like much either, though I do sometimes find a suitable book. Sometimes I buy him extras of clothes I know he likes, fleeces, cotton sweaters or whatever. If I don't do this his existing clothes simply fall apart.
Fortunately he's agreed now that we won't buy each other anything at all, which is fine by both of us.

DobbleBobble · 24/12/2021 23:37

Just came to gloat, my husband is so easy, he tells me all the things he wants, kitchen equipment, new clothes, towel, blanket and would never bother to go out and buy this sort of stuff for himself!

xmaswiththeinlaws · 25/12/2021 00:33

If you can't get him a bike, what about a CBT (motorbike beginners) course or an Adventure bike calendar

LoisLane66 · 25/12/2021 00:42

I switched a little-used bank account to Birgin Money and was offered either a 12 bottle case if wine or a gift experience worth 150 pounds which can be used on more than one experience. I re-gifted the experience to my eldest son who was thrilled to bits and is spending this weekend looking at the choices.
