I simply couldn't find anything. He is impossible. :(

OP posts:
Daisy829 · 23/12/2021 18:07

I haven’t got it for his Xmas this year but I’ve been considering a steak stone for my very difficult to buy for DH. Think I might get him one for his birthday in may so it can be used for outdoor eating in the summer.

BananaPant · 23/12/2021 18:20

I've not read through the thread but really.

You couldn't get him anything?

🙄

SourMilkGhyll · 23/12/2021 18:27

For the husbands who like the outdoors, but have everything, an electric heated body warmer.
Totally barking mad concept, but actually quite good.

Well that's it, no gift for DH

Scratch cards 🙂

MakkaPakkas · 23/12/2021 18:48

Blow job?

DiscontentedWoman · 23/12/2021 18:50

Mine loves Readly. He baulks at the price of magazines (and only buys one very occasionally) so Readly has been quite a hit.

Or maybe a virgin experience day?

You've obviously got a very open marriage...[/quote]
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I mean the virgin experience day I last got him was 'glamping' in a pod in snowdonia but we'll go with that!

Made me laugh 😆

theremustonlybeone · 23/12/2021 19:03

what about a membership at a local cinema?

icelolly12 · 23/12/2021 19:17

We don't buy for each other either , we buy what we want or need when we want it through th eyear. I used to spend so much and half of it would be left for ages still in the bags so we stopped ,also he used to buy me awful presents Xmas Grin

isthismylifenow · 23/12/2021 19:40

Does he like to do a BBQ in the summer?

If so, a good tong set.
An amusing apron
Cookery book for a BBQ (can be used as a hint if he isn't into BBQs... Then to revert to the first two items next year.
Salt block

If all else fails, a cologne.

Mummylin · 23/12/2021 19:59

Ticket to festival of speed at goodwood next year. ? You can buy online and get a gift certificate with it, tickets sent out nearer the time.

1967buglet · 23/12/2021 20:09

I ask DH and buy that, and then get a surprise or two. So for this year,

two murder mystery books he’ll like…a surprise

2 wool jumpers…different colours than the one I bought him before which he lives in practically;

A very nice new brolly…he had a walking stick one for 20 years that finally broke, so got the same make

Practical gift: a couple nice dress shirts

Bottle of whiskey he favours…another surprise.

Good luck!

beetr00 · 23/12/2021 20:11

@supergloo

odditymall.com/mood-ring-toilet-seat? Grin

supersop60 · 23/12/2021 20:14

I asked mine. He's getting a heavy duty sellotape dispenser, a thing that makes perfectly round fried eggs, and some specialist cleaner for his new car. I know they sound ??? but he'll be happy.

Also, I’ve bought him a subscription to Private Eye and he enjoys that.

Both myself and my OH are like this tbh OP. We have agreed that from now on unless it is a special birthday/really special occasion we aren't going to bother with gifts between us at all. We both tend to get what we need/fancy as we go along. His only real hobby is gaming but he is impatient and gets the games he wants as and when they are released. I do t really have time for hobbies but if I see a book I like the look of I grab it as and when.
Instead we have agreed that each birthday/Christmas we will each put a set amount away into a joint online savings account to go towards family days out/holidays. Works better for us that way.

NotJustACigar · 23/12/2021 20:42

Mine usually gives me a list but this year he hasn't had any ideas so I've been on my own. I've got him a bunch of things including:

  • roll of cling film in a box cutter dispenser (as he always messes up the household cling fil now he's got his own he can do what he likes with Grin)
  • headtorch
  • bottle of whisky
  • soda stream
  • oodie
  • sky sports pass
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/12/2021 20:54

I have this every year. We also agreed no presents as we got married a couple of months ago and wanted to concentrate on DD's present. Then he saw a music gadget he wanted. I also got him some new running gear from dd, a book and a decent chefs knife but I worry it's not enough.

Faretheewellmyfairyfay · 23/12/2021 21:49

My Dad enjoyed having a Eurosport player added to his Amazon Prime, as a gift.

My sons likes mini but good quality toiletries for when he travels for work. He particularly likes the small Molton Brown bath/shower gels. They have them in the MB shops but also John Lewis.

We've bought some books about such as biographies (Elton John etc.) and Paul McCartney's one about his lyrics that's new out, for someone whose general reading tastes we don't know, but love of vintage records and 60s-80s music we do. We also bought some books about interesting maps, popular science and medicine titles, and other new-out biographies, this Xmas and over the past few months for birthdays in the autumn/spring.

An IOU for a specific or non-specific theatre, music or other trip?

Ikea (or John Lewis or whereever) voucher or IOU for a new mattress or something that he'd really benefit from but doesn't want to spend the money on.

National Trust (or NT for Scotland), English Heritage, Cadw, Kew Gardens or some other local membership (joint so you can both go, some allow you to take guests as well, or children/grandchildren).

Cooking lessons. Advanced driving lessons, off-road experience in own car or theirs, or those skidpan ones:

Mulhollandmagoo · 23/12/2021 22:00

A nice pen?? Or a lovely picture of you both in a frame? My husband is awkward and so am I so we don't buy each other Christmas gifts, we do something nice together instead, in previous years we've booked a day off and just snuck off somewhere for the day. This year we went to a beautiful steak restaurant and had a lovely meal together a couple of weeks ago

NowEvenBetter · 23/12/2021 23:21

@TheNoonBell

I got my other half a reproduction WW2 german helmet. Something he has always wanted as he is into history.

Get the feeling he's going to want to wear it all day on Saturday when he opens it.

Like kids but worse.

…..a nazi helmet, then?
