I have to work on Christmas Eve until 3pm.
I cannot find another roll of my favourite wrapping paper.
I don't know what I want for me under the Christmas tree.

What are your first world Christmas problems?

I accidentally bought a box of Turkish Delight when I already had one.

IgneousRock · 09/12/2021 17:27

We haven’t got our tree yet, and this weekend is looking so busy (DC’s Christmas concerts, a trip to the panto and a Christmas meal with friends as well as the normal weekend stuff) that I’m not sure when we’ll find time.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 09/12/2021 17:28

I seemed to have left it to late, to buy a pre lit pencil Christmas tree. So I will now have to go into the loft and mess about with lights.
I am also working till 3pm on Christmas Eve

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/12/2021 17:42

Properly Christmassy wrapping paper is thin on the ground. And BTW, M&S, I don’t want Percy Pig paper, thanks, not even for the Gdcs,

squashyhat · 09/12/2021 17:46

My inlaws asked what we wanted for Christmas and my DH told them - nothing fancy, some slippers for him and some waterproof gloves for me for riding my bike. We received a Christmas card from them today, including the line that they had donated to Crisis on our behalf. We did not request a donation to Crisis. I hope whoever did doesn't get our slippers and gloves.

SushiGo · 09/12/2021 17:47

We can't order a turkey because no one would commit to where they were earing and now they're out of stock...

Also I forgot to buy the traditional santa wrapping paper.

Scout2016 · 09/12/2021 18:09

I think the green trainers I have got DH are too green.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/12/2021 18:12

With 10 days to go, we are still half expecting our holiday to be cancelled, and half the kids Christmas presents are arranged around the trip. So if it is cancelled, I'll need to change their presents...

JuicySatsuma85 · 09/12/2021 18:13

Our first DC is due on the 18th of December and I’m worried people will buy them Christmas presents even though they will be a tiny newborn & don’t need anything. I hate clutter & waste & the planets dying and all that. I don’t want or need anymore baby clothes, blankets, cuddly toys.

Sunsetsupernova · 09/12/2021 18:17

The personalised gift bags I bought so that I wouldn’t have to write tags and they’d all look beautiful under the tree were posted last Saturday and still haven’t arrived

FairFuming · 09/12/2021 18:23

Hermes is running so late with delivery here that a few of my gifts for my family (that I ordered ages ago) likely won't arrive in time 🤦‍♀️

Blossom64265 · 09/12/2021 18:30

My contractor is going to do my extensive bathroom and ceiling repair much earlier than expected, as in a few months earlier which is fantastic. He will be delivering materials including a giant bathtub and stacks of tile and sheetrock the day before Christmas eve and starting work immediately after Boxing Day.

Thankfully we are not hosting this year, but I was hoping dc would be in school, not home on break.

ImInStealthMode · 09/12/2021 18:32

I've accidentally let slip to DP that I could have Christmas Eve off instead of the half day I'm supposed to be working. Now I'm faced with an additional 4 hours with his family.

They're lovely, but we'll be there until late anyway as they're a nationality that celebrate on the 24th. I think I'll go to work and join them later Wink

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 09/12/2021 18:42

I am struggling to find the perfect plastic free christmas crackers that go with our table theme of white and gold I don't theme the whole christmas but do enjoy laying a special table so need tablecloth etc so do pick a theme for it

SilverDragonfly1 · 09/12/2021 18:51

SushiGo, do you have a local butcher? Ours is still taking orders as they don't get the stock in until the 21st. Good luck!

Mercedes519 · 09/12/2021 18:53

I keep forgetting to take the stuff for the DCs out of the car and it’s Friday again tomorrow. Which means if I forget again I’ll have to spend another weekend not opening the boot of the car when we go out Grin

AuntieStella · 09/12/2021 18:54

I can't find nice pyjamas for the DSes

My DBro is being even more peculiar than usual

The major declutter that was meant to have taken place in October (fallback November) still hadn't happened

Agadorsparticus · 09/12/2021 18:57

We might be moving house the week before Xmas and the DCs want the tree up now. If I can find it at the back of the storage unit.

Do I put it up for them and dismantle and move it and put it up again or do I wait to see if we are moving and put it up later? It would be the 22nd, it just seems really late.

Sosomego · 09/12/2021 18:59

You've all just reminded me of the million things I still need to do, especially the eco wrapping paper and crackers. If it helps I've just found some nice Kraft recyclable wrapping paper on offer at Argos/Habitat.

If anyone has recommendations of nice crackers that are not full of plastic tat I would be forever grateful!

Pickles89 · 09/12/2021 18:59

Not specially Christmas related but the plumber I called out to the dodgy bath tap has changed all the taps in the bathroom without asking me, and although they're pretty to look at they've got a rough carved metal design on top which rubs the skin off your hands when you turn them!! Angry Can't even complain as he went out of his way to fit me in before Christmas!

Hesma · 09/12/2021 19:00

@Mercedes519 I’m with you there. Haven’t opened my boot for weeks!🤣

Zeitgei5t · 09/12/2021 19:01

I can't find any supermarkets selling gluten free yule logs

Pickles89 · 09/12/2021 19:02

@Sosomego If you're able to reportage your house/sell the kids/live off gruel for the rest of the year they do some on Etsy. Nothing special, just wooden versions of the plastic tat.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 09/12/2021 19:03

I can't find French mustard anywhere!

Blossom64265 · 09/12/2021 19:04

We moved into our new home right before Christmas once. It was dc 1st Christmas and I was sad there would be no tree. DH arranged for there to be a tree set up in the house when we first entered. It was the most romantic thing he ever did and talk about Christmas magic. It wasn’t an especially grand tree, but it was still amazing.

So my vote is don’t set up your tree and get one to be there, lit up when you walk into your new home. It might have to be small enough you could carry it in set up, but you could probably pull it off, especially if your vendors are willing to help.
