I have to work on Christmas Eve until 3pm.
I cannot find another roll of my favourite wrapping paper.
I don't know what I want for me under the Christmas tree.

What are your first world Christmas problems?

I’m 100% ready for Christmas, all presets bought and wrapped ready to go. Food shop booked, ordered, checked 374 times…..

BUT I’m just waiting for something to go ‘wrong’ eg; forget to deliver a present/something out of stock for the food shop/we get ill etc etc etc. I do have GAD but I’m driving myself mad at the moment!

Sosomego · 09/12/2021 19:05

@pickles89 I will have a look, thanks. At this point I am considering making my own, meaning I will now have a million and one things to do. Sigh

CoolShoeshine · 09/12/2021 19:17

There are no Christmas markets near me! I wanna gooooo!! Angry

Agadorsparticus · 09/12/2021 19:18

Thanks Blossom, we will try to wait but the DC are becoming impatient, we are already in temporary accommodation so I'd like a little Christmas magic for them.

Unsuremover · 09/12/2021 19:18

I’ve got everyone meaningful and useful presents that won’t end up in the bin. It took ages and cost a fortune. But a load of fast fashion and plastic stuff would look flashier and het a better reaction.
I’ve forced Dc to make all the Christmas cards from recycled atlases, they look great but he was yawing and falling asleep for the last few so I think I’ve accidentally made a sweat shop.

LastStarFighter · 09/12/2021 19:20

I was sick for my usual week-off-to-declutter in October, so the house is a mess and I don’t know where the Christmas decorations are.

DS had to self isolate for the booked-a-year-in-advance light show visit that was supposed to kick off advent.

The DC will be at school right up to the 23rd, so it doesn’t feel like there is any run up to the event.

I have no wrapping paper.

Jas1986 · 09/12/2021 19:23

The personalised xbox controllers i have ordered the kids now arent due to be delivered til the 26th December

PeonyRose80 · 09/12/2021 19:26

I spent ages finding dill mustard and found out I bought some last month.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 09/12/2021 19:27

I can't find a big enough table cloth that I actually like to cover the big buffet table. I'm considering using wrapping paper, probably a double layer.

Darkpheonix · 09/12/2021 19:29

I have given dp 2 of his presents and o ly have one left. Now have to buy him something else. 🙄

Well not have to. Want to.

These sound beautiful would you share a photo?
Mummapenguin20 · 09/12/2021 19:34

I found another bag of presents to wrap right after putting all the paper in the loft

LastStarFighter · 09/12/2021 19:35

Oh, I nearly forgot. DS1 and DH both finally decided what they each want for Xmas. Both are now absolute must haves. Both only ship to the US Confused

Pickles89 · 09/12/2021 19:36

@Zeitgei5t I can't find any selling fancy pants fresh cream gain 2 stone from smelling it yule logs! I swear I've had them from various supermarkets in the past.

Pickles89 · 09/12/2021 19:40

@Jas1986 How old are the kids? If still young you could strategically leave present in the garden somewhere (carefully arranged as if it's fallen quite some way from a reindeer-powered sleigh) just before having them go out in the garden for some fresh air? Just make sure you label it to them so they aren't worried it was meant to be for anyone else! Of course if it's a few days after Christmas and it's been bad weather they might wonder why it's not soaked through and trashed...

JudgeJ · 09/12/2021 19:42

@ThankYouVeryMuchGerry

I can't find French mustard anywhere!
Blaming Brexit???
Incywinceyspider · 09/12/2021 19:42

I went to the lights at dunham massey last night and it absolutely pissed it down. DS cried for most of it. So disappointed!

MadameMonk · 09/12/2021 19:46

I was super-organised for once- more lists than Father Christmas.
Just got word that my DD11 has Covid. Symptomless. So hard isolation it is, 10 days (or longer if I catch it).
So my lists sit forlornly curling, while I hopelessly scroll for everything online. Can’t get to storage for the decorations, and can’t follow my personal Xmas tradition of hand-picking a ham to glaze for everyone.

Xmas at home with just DD (the most social bunny ever born) is going to be a nightmare! Hopefully it will feel less so when the shock wears off. (We’re in a country with super-low covid numbers)

InvincibleInvisibility · 09/12/2021 19:53

Have had to cancel our trip to the UK for Christmas. Our presents from my parents were a show whilst there. So we aren't getting any presents from them this year (it was a perfect present and I have no other ideas for any of us)

2020nymph · 09/12/2021 19:57

@Sosomego

You've all just reminded me of the million things I still need to do, especially the eco wrapping paper and crackers. If it helps I've just found some nice Kraft recyclable wrapping paper on offer at Argos/Habitat.

If anyone has recommendations of nice crackers that are not full of plastic tat I would be forever grateful!

We make our own, kit from Sainsburys or The Works. Add chocolate and a scratch card.
UnsolicitedDickPic · 09/12/2021 20:00

I've ordered Santa letters from Polar Post for my young niece and nephew, only to discover that my other niece still believes and is without a letter. Argh. Trying to think what the fuck to do now. Enormous first world problem I know!

repottingthescabious · 09/12/2021 20:09

@squashyhat

My inlaws asked what we wanted for Christmas and my DH told them - nothing fancy, some slippers for him and some waterproof gloves for me for riding my bike. We received a Christmas card from them today, including the line that they had donated to Crisis on our behalf. We did not request a donation to Crisis. I hope whoever did doesn't get our slippers and gloves.
@squashyhat - no i read into that that they find this easier than going round shops. Probably everyone in their family will get the same.

Its a nice thought and someone will get their Christmas dinner.
I used to buy a Christmas meal for someone at Crisis too. Before i went potless myself.

Justonedayatatime11 · 09/12/2021 20:27

@Zeitgei5t M&S have just got them in but I wouldn't rush to get one, even drier than GF food normally is Sad

Thesechipsdontlie · 09/12/2021 20:33

I'm in my first trimester and very nauseas. if I even think about eating a purple quality street/mince pie/pig in blanket I will throw up. No Christmas treats....even though I'm pretty sure I'm on the Nice list Xmas Wink

Thatsplentyjack · 09/12/2021 20:42

We've spent 730 quid on ds1 so far, but it's only 5 gifts and I feel really guilty because it looks like hardly anything because they are all small.
